Just wondered if anyone was questioning adams as yet? 8 league games in and no win got to be one of the worst starts from a united manager in History. I have to say that i am starting to worry if he is the man to take us forward and up and out of trouble. Back in early Jan i looked at this month and thought we must take at least 15 points from 7 winnable games, maybe not Ipswich as there fortunes changed when they brought a new manger in but definitely the others. The best we can hope for now is 11 but lets be honest i can't imagine that many blades expecting us to get that. You have to say the board is starting to wake up and give Adams money for Loans and permanent signings, granted we are not paying big transfer fees but it is better than 3/4 months back. The players he has brought in have hardly made a big difference and we are still losing games easily or getting out of jail like last night. If we only take 1 point out of the next 2 games, first of all were f*c$%d, and 2nd i can see Adams jumping ship.

Just wondered if anyone was having similar thoughts?? i am not 100% against adams i really want him to succeed because i like him as a manger and the fact he is a blade but if he takes us down it will simply be a disaster for our club.

I've been fully behind Adams until he started with Cresswell yesterday, if he doesnt start Boggy on sat then I really dont think hes the man for the job. I think boggy and Ched could be a real force upfront

Yes, having very similar thoughts. Inherited a really poor squad but we'd won a few previously and obviously haven't since.

The players he has brought in have, with the possible exception of Lowry, had zero impact and improved nothing. He appears out of his depth but he is at least thinking straight in terms of saying we got lucky last night.

They may gel a bit in the weeks to come and I think we can still finish 4th bottom but that is no achievement for SUFC, irrespective of cirumstances. I'll be laughing when Adams is held as some kind of miracle worker if and when we finish 4th bottom or better. He's a totally outdated, long-ball manager and so what if we stay up, watching Doyle, Quinn, Collins and Cresswell turn out for Adams for another two years is enough to turn the stomach. Very sad days.

Above all else, and this aint just Adams to blame, I am sick and tired of watching loanees who barely know eachothers names trying to win games for our beloved club.

Some of us questioned his appointment from the outset! However, I promised Grumpy Blade that I would back him for a reasonable time and I shall keep that promise.

Adams IN! [with reservations].

Nothing against Adams at all.
However halfway through last nights match I started thinking this is no better than under Blackwell. Maybe in hindsight we should have kept him in charge,at least there'd have been a few more points in the bag now.

The gamble was about going back to the future, even more so with Bassett coming on board.
Exalt perspiration above inspiration and hope that did the trick.
Now Adams was dealt a rough hand but football has also moved on, even at Championship level and putting two lamp-posts up front and expecting them to do some damage is meat and drink for centre halves these days.
We won't survive without some genuine quality coming in.

Saturday and Tuesday will let us know what we need to about our Micky. I will refrain till then but I do have a feeling of heading straight on into a car crash with no driver at present

Your last sentence Lenners.
How many times have we said that.Quality coming in,all it has ever been for a long time is quality moved on and lesser brought in.
Is there any wonder we are where we are.
Always been a selling club, going back to the Fifties.

No I'm not questioning him, he inherited a poor squad. He is still signing players as well and getting a new group of players to gel quickly is a very difficult task.

Mic raises a valid point about games we won before but I would counter that by saying look at who most those wins were against.....

Preston, Derby, Portsmouth, Hull, Millwall, Palace, Swansea

The four in bold are in the relegation scrap with us and two of the others went through poor spells earlier in the season. The only team from those seven that Micky has managed us against is Millwall and we got a point. Whilst I'm not saying we're only capable of beating these sides, my point is that Micky has managed us through an arguably more difficult set of games with a patchwork team.

A bit of perspective is needed I feel. We should be pointing fingers at the players (and in the grand scheme of things the directors) not at the gaffer!

I still think we should have taken this standpoint when Blackwell was here. Every manager makes mistakes but as AlienWoodward mused, we'd most definitely have more points on the board by now.

God no.

If you want hindsight then the only solution was to sack the twat at the end of last season, give whoever (Micky Adams, Grizzly Adams or Sweet Fanny Adams) the summer to recruit and apply HIS players and take it from there.
A complete lack of bollocks in the summer is the reason we have precious few points now.

NB: Please note most of this was said in May by more than a few and therefore it isn't really hindsight at all.

Whoever the manager is, with the lack of funds available, he'd be a miracle worker to get us out of this mess. :-/

Hola, have you still got that PM I sent you last year re: Blackwell, Grecian? :hello:

Which is why it had to be the summer, when there seemed to be money for extended contracts for Morgan, Monty, Quinn and Cresswell (all three year deals?) and the capture of Nosworthy for God knows how much.

The one about the night on the town, three large drag queens, a rectal probe and a colostomy bag?

I forwarded it to KB but he never replied. Went on my own anyway.

It's a hell of a lot worse than under Blackwell. Say what you want about Blackwell but he knew how to win and get results, especially at home. Just look at our home record in 2010 when Blackwell was in charge...

Played: 13
Won: 7
Drawn:4
Lost: 2

Included in these results were some really strong performances and comprehensive victories like the 3-0 demolitions of Reading and Premier League bound Blackpool. And remember this was at a time when Blackwell was satan and was being lynched week after week with constant criticism, booing and "Blackwell Out!" chants.

The abuse and criticsism the man received during last season was beyond belief and totally unjustified.

DAMMIT! Sent you the wrong one! :D

Blackwell must be sat at home with his compo money, pissing himself with laughter right now.

Maybe Warnock will be available in the summer. I heard a rumour that QPR won't retain him, even if he takes them up as champions.

I said when he was appointed that i would like to see him get us back into the championship if we were relegated - I still think that.

I wouldn't say I 100% agree with his team selections/subs/tactics but i'm 100% behind him.

it only took 3 or 4 games to see that Adams was not the answer. I reserved full judgment until after the transfer window ended. When i assessed his 5 signings and 2 departures the writing was on the wall for me. I take no pleasure - well perhaps just a bit ;-) seeing the know nowts on here now starting to realise too. Bringing Bassett back was embarrassing. It shows Adams hasnt got a clue.

I said at the time and i repeat - what did Carver do wrong to not even be considered?

Someone needs to explain why long ball football is outdated. I might be sick of watching it, but Bolton did it for years, and now Stoke do with great success.

If you're implying that poor players cannot succeed that way whereas they could in the past then there may be something in it. But the players we have don't have what it takes to succeed by passing, and that ain't gonna change anytime soon. Sadly it seems they can't succeed any which way...

the players we have are no good at long ball either.

Aye, had my usual smile at len's post..."football's moved on". Complete rubbish. Stoke do nothing but long ball. More so than we ever did under Warnock. And they thrive, and the public love it. Nothing has changed that way in football. It's still all about results, and the same tactics that used to bring about results still bring about results.

Yes, the Wimbledon boys are still holding their own at the top level aren't they?

Have a look at Stoke's squad. They have far better footballers than we ever had under either Dinosaur Dave or Neanderthal Neil. I've seen them play some very tidy football this season. Whitehead, Whelan, Etherington, Pennant, Fuller - Hoofers all?

I've just watched Arsenal-Barca. Don't you just hate that boring tippy-tappy rubbish. It'll empty stadia all over the world. Upandatem Micky!

Absolutely disagree on Stoke. They got to the Prem and stay there on the foundation of direct football and set pieces allied with physicality and ariel power. They do have footballers but they only play around the edges. Not possession football, not tippy tappy, but balls fired out wide quickly and crosses rained in towards the monster strikers.

They simply have better players than us, so are better to watch.

Ha ha interesting you mention this game. I was really looking forward to the feast of fantastic football, but up until Arsenal scored it was a pretty average game, the atmosphere seemed dull and it was, to be perfectly frank, boring to watch. No real tackles, typical Champions league for me.

I am in no way saying that I enjoy the way the Blades play at this moment in time, but recent games in the Championship (not many involving us) and the Premier League have been far better than this game.

This isn't a wind-up, right?

Well it wasn't the greatest champions league game i've ever seen....
