After a shaky first half including their disallowed "goal" I was pleased to see him come out second half and claim some crosses 10 yards from goal (never mind in his own 6 yard box) with a bit of assurance and eyes for the ball only. I've been very vocal about dropping him but he showed a bit of confidence second half which was good to see hopefully he kicks on from here...

As I said in the week, he’s got balls of steel. Came for several crosses in the second half to take the pressure off and took them all cleanly.
He’s not hit the levels he wanted to, but he’s showing his attitude is top class.

Top performance tonight imo, commanded the area perfectly second half, dominated the box claiming several crosses. Shame about the goal, but he had no chance and let's be honest, it was never a freekick to begin with.

You may be right but I think some better defending on Maguire in the first place would have helped. Did Jags trip up?

I wonder, could it be that his (much) improved performance was thanks in part to Jags having a stormer? Maybe that guidance of an old experienced head in front of him, communicating clearly and all that, was just what he needed for such an occasion?

Or perhaps it was just that the defence in front of him as a whole were excellent tonight.

Either way, more of the same please.
