Therefore some on here are basing an opioning on a very good game at Hillsborough,a poor game against QPR (where everyone was poor,)and admission by you that he played well in September).

In view of 2 good games out of three,I am curious as to why you think this may not be a good signing(if we are signing him) the majority of the times you have seen him he has played well

Agree with bartman here. There is no strong justification to write the lad off based on what we saw in his loan spell. I used to spend a fair bit of time up in the north east and went to watch Sunderland a few times when he played. He always looked a competent and steady centre half so I cant see what all the fuss is about.

The trouble is with football fans (not just ours), if a player that isnt a big name comes in then they are usually dismissed as crap from the off.....quite often by people who havent seen them play week in and week out.

The Pigs game was 7 years ago. He can't get into the Leeds squad which has Alex Bruce in it. Surely even you think we need to do better

He was given a particularly torrid time by Beattie when Wolves were one of the few teams that Robson managed to beat.

The problem with him is, in my view, the ginger hair! Your mistakes are highlighted that much more when you stick out like he does.

Why should we be doing better? We're 21st in the Championship with no serious money to spend and working close to our annual wage budget.

Opinions are fine sheffielder and I dont knock people who want to maintain high standards, but what sort of players do you think we can attract in our position and with the sort of funds we have?

We have to bring in what we can. If Neill Collins is all that is available/attainable and he signs then lets get behind the lad and the team. Moaning and being negative will do nothing other than make you depressed.

I saw him play at Wolves a couple of times about 3 years ago and he looked Ok. I didn't go to Leeds this season but CooperBlade says he played OK earlier in the thread.

Did I not say I dont mind opinions and those who call for higher standards? I've re-read my post and I'm struggling to see where I told you what to do....

I just think its worth keeping an open mind regarding transfers. Writing the lad off doesnt help anyone IMO but that doesnt mean you're necessarily wrong about the player I accept that. I do disagree but you dont have to be sorry.

Can you let me know how many games I need to have seen him 'live' in to be able to justify myself? From the games I remember seeing him play in (including at Leeds this season) I don't believe him to be good enough to play for United. Since being dropped from Leeds team their defensive performances seem to have improved and they have moved up the table. He was unable to get into a Preston team managed by Darren Ferguson of all people. If he does come I will support him however I wouldn't play him infront of the players we have already which really in my eyes makes him not good enough/shit; whichever one you fancy.

I wouldn't mind but I haven't been critical of any of Micky's signings so far, so it's not like I don't support what is being done. You on the otherhand will support anything we do. We aren't in a position to give people a punt and that is what Collins would be in my OPINION

Though would if the rumour's true at the very least be a permanent signing, so would arguably have more to lose through failure than the loanees. You could also argue that Leeds improved since they dropped Bromby and Ferguson's judgement at PNE has put them on the verge of relegation. I've not seen him enough to decide whether he would be a good signing(again if the rumour is true)....however I am sure Adams has looked at him plenty of times in order to establish whether he is the right type of person to get us out of the mess we are in at the moment at the budget we can afford. have you got any alternatives we could consider ?

When will Micky have seen him plenty of times? He was at Port Vale so not shopping the Neill Collins market. He hasn only played reserve team football since Micky came to this club and judging by how many reserve games we play that can't be many.

I don't think this is totally out of the question either. I am sure we all have roughly the same opinion on Nosworth but the injury has taken him out of the firing line for a few weeks now and let's hope he has been watching videos of how to put his foot through the ball!

Despite what some are saying on here I think this is a good signing. Big strong lad, experienced at this level and coming into his best years. This could be a very smart signing by Micky, especially if he builds the lad's confidence up.

Nice to have another permanent player in as well. One that belongs to us for a change!

Have to agree with your every word on this one. An utter joke of a signing who we are saddled with for 2 and a half years. Doyle and Collins, what the **** is Adams playing at, just carrying on from where Blackwell left off. We are becoming a laughing stock taking players off other teams hands who can't wait to get rid, joke, absolute joke. Division 1 here we come.
