Player Suggestion Bright Osayi-Samuel

We need to be looking at ball carriers like him, either this window or in the summer.

Wanted us to sign him in the summer. As FriethBlade says, excatly the type we need. But I either Wilder doesn't think our system can accomodate someone like that in the Prem and/or we can't afford those types when they are of a quality that can come up such as Benrahma and Eze. Maybe he doesn't want to pay big money by our standards for someone that effectively is a gamble such as an Bright Samuel type. I'm just speculating obviously.

Based on the Burke signing, I think this was Wilders' budget attempt to inject that creativity and pace in there. I'm convinced that back in the Championship Burke could be a really good asset to us possibly in the Duffy role. Some may say, well we spent all our money on Brewster but I seem to recall that deal was structured over several years and I think that made it much easier than others for us to complete. Maybe Liverpool can afford to let players go like that and receive monies over a few years whereas a QPR can't. Anyway, waffle aside, I'd love us to sign him, but it won't happen now where we are. We can hope for a creative midfielder though and tht would be amazing if we could sign someone like Swift as an example and inject some creativity into our currently pedestrian and crab like midfield

Skim read it.....well if it's not the transfer fee that would be the problem then it would be wages, (see Antonee Robinson) and also the fact that as already pointed out Wilder doesn't like flair players or anyone capable of picking up the ball and driving forward with pace....

yes your right it is just what were lacking that bit of individual flair and i know im banging on again but this 352 system just doesnt allow us to have 2 or 3 players like this its far too rigid although i am hopeful that we will be more expansive in the championship

Unpredictability, pace, threat. It annoys me that we seem allergic to this type of player. Everyone else is allowed one, why aren't we?

Precisely. Eze, Zaha and Townsend’s unpredictability made the difference against Palace. Wilder is too welded to a limited workhorse. Especially in midfield.

Never stayed there, but I did stay at Vegas World the first time I went there on business, that was crap, then Stardust, that wasn't much better, stayed at Mirage which was ok, Treasure Island, not bad, Aladdin (new one), Luxor, New York, New York, MGM Grand, Ballys, Aria, Palms, and a few others. Must be five years since I was there.

When I first went, Vegas was cheap and cheerful, tacky, and you could get all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast for $1.99 at most casino's and Steak dinner for about 7 quid. They just wanted to get you on the building, then it slowly changed and had Gordon Ramsey restaurants and stuff and it became really, really expensive.

Even the most basic night clubs will charge you 50 quid to get in these days. The famous ones, with famous DJ's, cost more. And you have to stand all night, if you want to sit down at a (roped off) table, it costs a fortune, I think the cheapest one at Cosmopolitan was 3 grand.

That's a really good question. In the case of Eze and Benrahma, I don't think so as they're probably on much bigger wages than we could afford and probably wanted to stay in London over a move north anyway, unless it was to a bigger club like Leeds - sorry to say that!

But Bright-Samuel I'm sure we could have attracted this summer, or someone else of that ilk. But as we don't play with wingers or an attacking mid, until the last few weeks, and even then its more a case of playing McGoldrick in the position for greater possesion, I'm not so sure where that type would play. Burke is a player with skill and pace and we play him up top which arguably isn't his best position. Maybe if we go down we'll revert to the "Duffy" role and we could then accomodate a Bright-Samuel type but even then I think Wilder may prefer someone more of a playmaker in that role who can pick out a pass, play a one two etc and open up opposition, as opposed to someone like Eze who runs past people at ease. We didn't struggle last seson either way and didn't play a number 10 even.

I still think one of our buggest problems, apart from lack of players form, is the lack of service/creavitity from the full backs, sorry wing backs, but really they're full backs that get forward and that shows sadly at times. Signing Robinson from Wigan would have given us someone with greater potential going forward, so obviously Wilder knows that we need quality there and presumably if he could afford to upgrade on either wing back he would. Bogle looks impressive though.

I used to travel to California at least once a month for around 10 years and occasionally would fly MAN-LAS with a 3.5 hr drive to outskirts of LA. On the way back would always stay an extra couple of nights so done most of the hotels you mention and I completely agree that the place has changed over the years. I was last there in March and got the last flight out before lockdown, that was a surreal moment...have you ever seen the strip looking like the photo?

We couldn’t be anymore defensive if we tried. He’s the sort of player to make something happen. He relies on our fullbacks for creativity. We’re not in league 1 or championship where you put a ball the in box and sharps going to be there to tap it in. You need pace, agility, guile, innovation and creativity. He is that

I get your points, I really do. But we could be more defensive. We could play 4-5-1 and just stick everyone behind the ball and hit teams over the top, bit like how Newcastle play, but they've got some quality to do that. Re creavitiy and the full backs, I can see where you're coming from there also, but our central midfield lack of quality this season has stripped Wilder of the creavity we had from Fleck - goals and assists, Norwood - through balls, set pieces and Lundstram - goals and assists. The lack of quality in the middle is really costing us as is Moose's form as he was important last season.

But you're right that pace, and creavitity etc, all of what you stated at the end of your last post is lacking at times. My thoughts are that Wilder probably doesn't want to have a player like that because within out budget we probably couldn't get someone good enough to do that consistently and then you'd lose some of the qualities we do have from the ommision of whoever goes out for a Bright-Samuel type, and/or possibly would require a complete change of formation and obviously Wilder doesn't want to do that, although where we are now there is less risk to doing that than ever before.

Either way, we were great last season playing the same we have this season, it's just this season we're not as good at it as we were last season for all the factors we know about. We didn't have a Brigh-Samuel type in the year we got promoted and got promoted and we all know we did well last season without any of the individual talent that almost everyone else does. Maybe over the time the plan was/is to add more creative players that cost more money that can be of the required quality. I don't know but I still think that we'll be strong again, even if that means we will be relegated first.
