Since the rot set in post Lockdown 1.....we are still playing the same formation with the same tactics....the summer recruitment was shocking and we still have no plan B......only difference now is a complete lack of confidence, passion, effort and will to win.

The players are playing the way they are coached, they are not being told to play one way then walking on the pitch and doing the opposite.

Wilder looks completely clueless, like a rabbit in the headlights and utterly out of his depth at this level....time to go Chris, thanks for the memories.

It’s the same bad recruitment whos brought in the bad players.

They’re being coached to play it backwards at every opportunity? And to not go past a man? And to make basic mistakes?

The coaching has changed a lot from last season if so.

Passing backwards and not trying to beat a man? Absolutely they're being instructed to do that. It's all safety first football - Wilder currently knows no other way to play/set-up.

I’m not sure I can agree with that, it’s a combination of players uninterested and not making space for the plays to happen. Coupled with the opposition pressing we just lazily pass backwards, rinse and repeat.

I highly doubt CW tells them to do that, especially when we’re losing. The never say die attitude of the team has completely disappeared.

If it happens every match why are they still doing it then? If Wilder isn't telling them to do it (and so they're just ignoring his instructions) how is he still in a job? He's effectively not managing the team wouldn't you agree?

I am beginning to wonder whether the 5-3-2 CBS was just an incredible fluke. He's been tactically clueless since first lockdown and we're using the same plan b as in league 1.

It wasn't a fluke. It was a well oiled machine playing with momentum and confidence and dare I say with more energy (see Enda for example)

It also had 2 seasons worth of Dean Hederson and JOC that were integral to this system.

Injuries and losing Deano are a big part but the recruitment has been woeful and some of the established players have let themselves down.

A perfect storm to which the messiah of the past few seasons can't solve.

I kinda got the hard start to the season bit but we've just played 180 mins against 2 bang average sides & not come close to troubling either.

Perhaps he could help by trying a different system for a few games

I meant a fluke in coming up with the system. Or at least a lucky stab. Our success and the way we played the system were certainly not a fluke.

CW looks like a man utterly and completely shot. Just watched that Leicester interview again and it was terrible. He needs 2 weeks away from the club , rethink, and then come back with some new ideas, 'cos this isn't good enough - not by a long shot. There is no easy solution, Palace were faster than us, more eager for the ball. closed us down quicker and when they broke they looked and were more dangerous. For a player to run 40 to 50 yards at us without a strong challenge at him and then pass the ball into the bottom corner of the net is just embarrassing.
