He’s not going to say “we’re shit and we’re already down” is he?!

What's that got to do with saying:

"The way we’ve dominated and dictated a few games. We’ve created a lot of chances and not scored"

?

I think we have dominated and dictated parts of games ie Leeds first half, Fulham first half, West Brom the whole game, Burnley second half.

Parts of games, yes, but we've had the second least possession and shots in the league.

Do you not feel we dominated the games against West Brom and Burnley?

Burney - in part, and we did have more possession but they allowed us to have more possession. That was their game plan. To counter on us. You could hardly say we dominated just because we passed the ball around our back 4 more whilst they played long balls.
WBA - Against West Brom it was fairly even. Possession was 52/48 to us and we had slightly more shots but they had more corners. It went in spells.

Both those games, in essence, were fairly even, even though we lost both.

He’s towing the party line. Apart from West Brom, where we did dominate and create chances.

I'd far rather the players have some self-belief, even if some fans think it's misplaced, than have them all hopelessly devoid of any confidence in themselves at all.

I hope so. My worry is the players have bought into this "we're just unlucky" line.
Yes that's what surprised me in that interview - "it's the bounce of a ball or a fine line or a brilliant striker's finish". I was firmly in this Fine Margins camp thinking we'd just been unlucky, until about 8 or 9 games in, when i started to come to terms with one simple fact: that we are just shit, and just cos we lose by 1 goal most of the time doesn't mean we're not easy to beat.

I mean, we could easily, if we'd been really lucky, have picked up more points, but we'd still be in single figures.

and the point v Fulham - Mitrovic missed a pen and i think 2 sitters, and our pen was jammy too; and Brighton really should have nicked it at the death. There is a case that we're lucky to have even 2 points on the board. My God that's depressing.

We dominated against West Brom for periods, and certainly should have taken something from that game.

I would then add Leeds, Villa and Leicester as games where we deserved ( I know we shouldn't use that word but..) something.

So we could, should maybe be 4 points or so better off. We'd still be rooted to the bottom, but much more in the fight.

We absolutely battered West brom. Had enough clear chances to win 3 or 4 games
