I don't believe he's improved from when he managed Liverpool.....And we should be more ambitious, given the position we are in as a club potentially turning the big 6 into the big 7......
He's also done nothing for our club that couldn't be done by another manager, or nothing for us compared to what Wilder has done for Blades.

A fair comparison to Wilder, would be Pearson.

But this isn't the place to discuss that.

Wilder knew this last season, there's some huge clues in his interview after the away game at Leicester that he knew this season would be hugely difficult, and his transfer dealings suggest he's looking for the long term approach.

"These players are lucky.....I don't expect any huge changes next season".

He said something along those lines. He knew then that this squad was not good enough to remain in the top flight for a prolonged period. So he's bought the likes of Brewster/Berge/Mcburnie/Burke etc etc for the long term.

It would be a positive step to see Bogle again, especially after scoring and getting good reviews after his debut.

He's another young signing at just 20.

People would rather sign a 30 year old with Premier League experience just for a bit more hope of staying up for another 12 months, than invest in players for the future in the hopes of progressing and taking bigger steps like a Leicester/Wolves.

Do you want to be a Burnley/Palace, or a Leicester/Wolves?


There's a thread on here actually trying to say the club is an example of the City, in that its attitude is a little bit backwards.....Which I completely disagree with.
If anything, it's the fans with that backwards view, and the club, well more specifically Wilder, looking towards the long term future and potential long term success.

Can’t agree with this at all. 2nd in premier league for distance covered and that is not what players do if they want the manager out. Not good enough and some poor signings I do agree with along with some amazing team selections but let’s not say the players want him out as I don’t see any evidence of that.
 
Lost the dressing room doesn't apply in this case in my opinion. Losing the dressing room would apply if Wilder had taken over a PL side who are sliding after a good previous season. Most of the team have been on the journey from league 1 to PL. So who is he supposed to have lost? They are losing but not getting hammered. They are trying but lack quality and some cohesion. The trust he has built up doesn't disappear that quick.

I do think the players, specifically the likes of Fleck/Norwood/Sharp were not keen on his comments last season about having a squad of League 1/Championship players......
But the reality is, their lack of performance this season prove he is/was correct.

I'm not a fan of criticising the man for his honesty.

Fuck me haven’t won all season if the dressing room wasn’t “fractious” I would want to know why. That doesn’t mean those players have stopped playing for him. Not good enough 100%, lost the dressing room, its cliche ridden comment.

Long time lurker on the main forum here but I can't resist asking you CG why you're now drawing back from your opening post stance? From your statement, you were in no doubt that CW had lost the dressing room but now you seem to be hedging your bets. Is there the slightest evidence for either of your contentions or can we expect any further guesses on the state of the dressing room over the next few days?

When you say it was sorted six months ago, what actually happened was that you disappeared and everything went quiet, I’d be surprised if many lamented your disappearance (and there are opposition fans on here who are well liked, so it can be done). In my view, but I don’t run this place, the accusations you made at the time about the owners should have been enough for a permanent ban, but the site owners seem to be quite forgiving. Now you’re back, out of the blue and it’s all kicked off again, to no good end.

You can obfuscate all you like about being part Irish yourself, so you can’t be racist to an Irish person, but you referred to Rodgers as an “egotistical little Northern Irishman” His nationality and indeed his size are of no relevance to how good he is at his job, why mention those things?

As for pulling somebody up for derailing the thread, that’s breathtakingly arrogant for an occasional visitor, who I doubt has ever paid a penny to the upkeep of the site.

Stop derailing threads and then accusing me of 'Kicking off', just because i'm defending myself from false accusations.
 
Wilder has called out bad performances many times in the past few seasons, also referred to players as ‘league one’ when we were in the Championship and last season called them ‘Championship’ players at times and they didn’t seem to take offence.
Footballers aren’t as fragile as people seem to believe, they will all be falling out at the minute as they care and want to be winning games - it comes with the territory.
Players don’t need to like their manager but they do need to respect him, with everything he’s achieved for them I would be very surprised if they don’t.
Eleven 1-0 defeats doesn’t point to a group of players that are not playing for the manager, we would be seeing some heavy defeats if that were the case and they were trying to force him out.

Tufty hasn't lost the dressing room imho ...... but some of the "senior" players need to take a good long hard look at themselves in the mirror given some of the performances this season and ask ..... if the fans were in this stadium watching this, would I be settling for this level of performance??

And I think the answer would be ...... fuck NO .... they would see right through it in a heartbeat !! :oops:

The players are the ones making the unforced errors and misplaced passes and the players are the ones missing the fucking chances in front of goal.

Back the Club, the Manager and the Team, because it could be soooooooooo much worse. I have seen some really shit players in my time !! :rolleyes:

We have plenty of the ball but don't create. That's not the result of losing the dressing room.
 
Let us be honest, the cause of the dressing room problems is Billy.

He wants to be the next manager and doesn't like being out of the starting line up because it belies his ability to push forth his want to manage the club some time down the line.

His wife can back track all she wants, but this is the absolute truth.

I think the players will be significantly more likely to be fracticious with each other than with the manager tbh. I can see there being quite a few fiery conversations between them. And good.

Watching the performances, they havent been lacking effort. The players are at pains to take responsibility post match. Talk about motivation being high. Training good.

These arent the noises of players looking to abandon a manager.
