He's been on BIFF since it started and has been an active advisor since too.

It's only natural to employ the 1 person who's been there constantly throughout the processes good and bad.

What gets me is the amount someone will go to to get an influential job at BDTBL.

Is there any point in him being here? Will they listen? This will flop, just like BIFF

Where is the 'less enthusiastic response' stemming from? BladesMad?

If so, I hope he takes it with a pinch of salt - most people on there think they represent the fan base in it's entirety.

Not the best thing to say on here.

Right, lets just do nothing then. Obviously the club shouldn't make any sort of attempt to engage with the fans.

And objections to him on the basis of his weight are retarded, whether somebody takes life too seriously or not.

Hey Richard ..... if yer read this and care fook Tom Hark off ! PLEASE.

How does the club engage with us? I'm not allowed to take a flag I used to take into the ground because it doesn't have a piece of paper saying I won't set it on fire. This will lead to nothing, the whole concept it a waste of time, this Richard is wasting his time.

The flag stuff was not to do with the club and what they had to do.

If you think that everyone is wasting their time talking to be honest.

I am aware, but the steward wasn't.

Nowt will come of this, complete waste of time, how will it benefit me? It won't.

So what has the flag got to do with him?

So nowt will come of it?

How do you know?

Surely they should try......if not why not?

All these ideas sound lovely, but who gives a hoot if we have the most efficiently run club in the league, but one who are plying our trade in division four again? Some of the best times watching the Blades have been in the shittiest of grounds with the crappiest facilities, which have meant nothing because we're not there to be basking in comfort, we're there to watch football.

Arsenal have a lovely ground, so do Bolton, Reading, even Doncaster etc., and all with excellent facilities but that's it. These places have no atmosphere, they're too sanitized and as a result the whole match day experience becomes stale and passionless, in fairness a bit like the Lane sadly. We have a fabulous stadium now, and one that can still generate a bit of atmosphere but there's only one thing can do that, a team that gives us something to get excited

Nothing against this fella but surely his salary, and all the add on costs would be better spent on the paper thin playing squad right now, as we look to me to be in need of every available penny for investment in on the pitch and not off the pitch matters.

Get a team worth supporting and the support is there, regardless of the marketing strategy, keep watering the squad down though and watch the customers disappear.

To nick someone elses catchphrase, it's not rocket science.

Point well made, Horace.

Not the best thing to say on here.

Nobody on here proclaims to speak for everyone. Just like we don't go round claiming to be the "best Blades site around". We just do what we do and try and Foxy and I try to represent our members wherever we can. We aren't going to change what we do to satisfy people who snipe from afar :) The problem is theirs.

Just because the flag situation hasn't worked how you wanted it to, doesn't mean BIFF has "failed".

As for Richard, he was on Radio Sheffield earlier and invites emails from anyone with any comments. I think he's up to his eyeballs at the minute, but he has a very clear idea of what he wants to do for the fans and for the club and to write him off instantly is extremely unfair.

Change in any organisation can be a long process, especially when so little has been done to engage with fans over the last X number of years. All he can do is try. All we can do as fans is make sure any concerns we have are passed on. It's then up to the club as to whether they're only paying lip service to the ideas and comments or whether they truly want to listen.

EDIT:

 We're now getting abuse because we've highlighted the abuse on Bladesmad!

If you don't want your private thoughts commenting on, don't put them in a public place for people to read.

I haven't put mine in a public place to read.......

What has BIFF done that's a success then?

Glad Mr B was on Radio Sheff earlier and is already getting emails but I'm going to do my broken record routine again.
The forums have become a key route of communication for fans, read by thousands, and it is here that he should be looking to for ideas and thoughts - as well as the emails etc.
From what Mr J says, sounds like he will so good stuff.
As for all the nay-sayers, FFS if you come up with some winning ideas yourselves, that make sense and work, at the very least you've given the club some options.
If they balls it up or play stupid then fair enough.
But for the timebeing, this is an opportunity for some positive ideas to be put forward.

That's what BIFF was supposed to do, what does that say about BIFF if you need him in that role now....

Waste of time.

Well if it is a waste of time, it isn't your time it's wasting :)

I really don't know why you're so upset about it.

Richard works with BIFF and still attends BIFF meetings. It's about talking to as many fans as possible to gather as much information as possible. BIFF is just a small part of that.

He has an email address and you can contact him directly.

Trig, changes aren't going to be made overnight but time is short when it comes to projecting plans for season tickets.
If it's a serious role, he should be on here and asking people directly for ideas.
You could even come up with some yourself.

len, we all have a view of our own role in life and indeed on this messageboard. I see mine on here as pricking the pomposity of pompous p..p..p..people, making sure the lunatics keep their mitts off the asylum, that kind of thing. It's certainly not for me to come up with suggestions.

To be fair, I've been pleasantly surprised by the way you've accepted this new appointment, without cynicism, not like you at all. In the interest of the new openness and co-operation on here, I have given some thought to your request for suggestions.

I think an advert in The Star might do the trick, full houses every week, guaranteed......

Another broken record post (there's an open goal for yers) but this has got to be first and foremost about ideas to encourage fans to buy season tickets.
The other stuff about organising forums, the availability of Bovril, the price of shirts, the temperature of the beer, the quality of the pies can wait for now.
Season tickets, season tickets, season tickets.
Mr Batho, get posting on here and over with the other mob and seek out those ideas.

I'm with leonard. Let's not focus on the fluff right now.

UTB

Waste of time.

OK, you have no ideas and nothing positive to offer. Fair enough.
But for me, this is a critical time in United's history and anything the fans can offer in terms of ideas is worth a go.

No, it's his time he's wasting. That's pretty evident.

I have contacted BIFF before, nothing came of it, I don't think they even took note of the several attempts. Wonderful thing isn't it "we're here for the fans, but not you or you"

Advertising should definitely form a part of selling season tickets but we need the imaginative initiatives first Trig.
Get the plans in place and then tell the people.

To be fair, the last BIFF meeting was in November so nothing formal will have come out since then.

I'm currently typing up the notes from our latest meeting which addresses a lot of comments gathered since November.

Like I said, we're only there to be the conduit. It's up for the club to put things into action.

Serious question Lenners, whats prompted this recent change to the positive?

 We're now getting abuse because we've highlighted the abuse on Bladesmad!

They've pooled all available braincells. Abuse from an amoeba!

You should know that being in "BIFF" but nothing I really feel the need to post on here. It was IGNORED by the blades independent FANS (yeah, right) forum. It is by far the single biggest waste of time and effort, where a fan who puts money into the club is ignored or ideas not deemed worthy enough for a simple generic response. BIFF is a clique of 'superfans' where any words that reach the fans are horrifically watered down so as to make the club and BIFF look good and that they aren't a mere tool that the club is using to make the fans seem part of something.

Why not make someone who QUESTIONS the club the SCM or maybe someone who hasn't been a puppet in BIFF. A real fan, but the problem is you wouldn't find a person who is an 'ordinary fan' to do it because they really have become frankly tired with the powers that be at SUFC.
