Wilder

Me neither- talking about next season in the Championship isn’t code for sacking him. I think we’ll be fine next season, just don’t want this one to kill the magic

"insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

For me, Wilder's been disappointing this season. He's not done enough to stop this rot. He's continuously just blamed his players and not taken on any responsibility himself. The system has clearly been broken for a while & we seem to be getting worse as the season goes on.

I'm not for sacking him... yet. But I keep setting myself hypothetical "if we lose the next 2, 3, 4, 5 games" type deadlines and he keeps exceeding them.

The truth is, if we still haven't won a game by 2021 then I think he will have to go. I love him to bits, but this can't continue. These loss margins will soon start increasing once it becomes obvious it's too late for us and at that point, when our heart has gone, his position will become untenable. It will be a sad end, but an inevitable one if we don't turn this around shaprish - which I don't see happening.

Exactly.

By the OP logic we should never have sacked Mickey Adams.

Whenever I see Chris laugh it reminds me of a picture of an inmate of Bedlam I saw as a youth.

Since lockdown, 21 Premier League games played & only 12 points accumulated.
We've lost our only 2 other games in the Cup too.

That's really, really poor form. I haven't seen us try to change shape once in that spell. It looks like he's completely out of ideas.

If we go down with one point I'd still keep CW as manager. This season is a joke, write-off season from the start with no fans in. It's played right into the hands of the premier league primadonnas, where there's no pressure on them in what is nothing more than glorified training games. On the United side of the fence, everything about our team is the players working as a team and feeding off the fans, those tackles and challenges with 30K Blades backing them are much more effective. All the umph the team had last season, much of it was down to the backing from the stands.

If we go down, the best man to take us back up is here already.

Not knocking your viewpoint. In his interview today he said that he had worked with other systems and formations in the past but considers the current setup is the best for the set of players at his disposal. I think we have to accept he knows the players and their capabilities better than we do. Presumably if it was as straightforward as changing formation, he would have done it already. He didn’t hang around changing from a back four when we were in league one, which indicates he is not tied to a particular way of playing. I think the issue is we don’t have the personnel to play effectively in a different system and have woefully few options in midfield.

Hopefully CW is just being stubborn.

After watching the last 10 or so games, if he honestly thinks that the current formation with Kean Bryan in at LCB is better than a 4-3-1-2, with Ampadu & Egan or Ampadu & Bash or Bash & Egan at CB and a front trident of McG, McB & Brewster or McG, McB and Burke, he needs to lay off the gear.

Bryan is a L1 standard footballer. Other than our continuing foolhardy persistence with him, he has only played at that level with Bolton, Oldham & Bury. No other PL club would have him anywhere near their squad, let alone starting.

For some bizarre reason CW has decided that 3 at the back is the hill that he’s prepared to die on.

I don't care anymore, if it's back to the Championship next season then so be it. I will be there whatever division we are in, once we are all allowed back in after this Pandemic is finally over. Tbf with this manager and squad of players we should come straight back up. Hopefully be allowed back in before end of this season to see us play live Prem football again before the inevitable happens. Then back to playing the likes of Middlesbrough again next season.

Shit show right from start. Completely had enough of this season.

I've questioned him this season but when the anger & frustration dies down you realise he's the only man for us. Granted I still feel he's wasted money but he'll learn from that, only the fare weather fans will want him out. If he keeps us up it'll be the most amazing achievement by any manager ever for me.

Billy Shaprish.

Good name for a country and western singer.
