Individual Errors and Bad Luck

He could also have Cryuff turned and rainbow flicked it to Egan. Now I see your point. Completely his fault. He could maybe have even sprinted after the ball and won the header on the halfway line.
you're using humour because you cant give a reasonable reply.

Whilst I do believe Wilder has made some poor decisions in terms of transfers and failing to find an adequate replacement for O’Connell a large proportion of the goals conceded seem to have come from errors and bad luck that he can do nothing about.

If you go through the games we’ve played so far in nearly all of them a ball just ricochets nicely for the opposition or someone drops a clanger. Yes you can say if you are constantly playing negative football you are bound to make mistakes in the defensive third as you spend a greater proportion of the match in it but it really seems too many at this stage in a season:

Wolves 2-0 Ramsdale should stop Wolves second nice height and not really in the corner.

Villa 1-0 Egan caught ball watching and then rather harshly sent off, Lundstram misses penalty

Leeds 1-0 Berge fouled in the build-up to Leeds goal

Arsenal 2-1 Awful performance all round can be no complaints

Fulham 1-1 Lookman gets a nice deflection off Basham straight into his path

Liverpool 2-1 Stevens decides not to mark 5ft5 Jota at the back post

Man City 1-0 Walker allowed to run up to the 18-yard box unopposed but good strike (perhaps harsh).

Chelsea 4-1 See Arsenal

West Ham 1-0 – Shocking clearance from Ramsdale and poor marking from the midfield but blocked shot once again drops perfectly for Haller to hit.

West Brom 1-0 – Poor Clearance from Berge but drops nicely for Gallagher

Leicester 2-1 Fleck loses the ball cheaply instead of getting rid but is unlucky that it drops perfectly for Maddison and then Egan should perhaps take Vardy out.

I do take some hope from the fact we aren’t getting hammered every week although that does seem make the defeats harder to stomach. This run of individuals making bad decisions and unlucky deflections surely cannot go on all season. Yes it will take a miracle from here to stop up but we should be dead and buried after 11 games with one point and were not. There are two or three dreadful teams down there with us and I’m pretty sure it won’t be 40 points to stop up this season. UTB

You definitely have a point, it isn't the only factor, but it is a factor nonetheless and probably contributes to this feeling of 'not being too far away'.

As hinted by others though, we also need to be more threatening ourselves, as per WBA.

You agreed with me this afternoon so my reply can't have been that unreasonable...

I admire you for sticking up for Rammers on this one, but I have to agree that he could have kicked it better with his stronger foot.
There was still a lot to do from the half way line though for sure and I'm not blaming rammers for the goal. But overall I think his kicking is poor and he often finds touch.
