Sander Berge

A bit suprised of the support for offloading. For me, in a team full of trying but ultimately limited players, especially in midfield, id be very disappointed if we got rid of our most talented, if currently under effective, midfielder.

Building on our midfield in Jan/ the summer should revolve around him IMO.
Spot on its madness to suggest otherwise

I told myself I wouldn't carp abaht any of the team, cos I was really impressed at how they closed the Leicester back four down when they had the ball, and trying 100%, and I wont, but I really dont see Berge as the answer to our troubles. He was largely awol yesterday and that may be because, as someone else says on here, their midfield were good and moved the ball very fast between them, but not too fussed if he goes.

There is a pattern forming here scapegoat our big signings ................ can't moan about McBurnie, Ramsdale can't be faulted for the goals (he did drop a cross though) Brewster wasn't on the pitch for very long so Sander Berge is awarded the scapegoat trophy this week. If all the above are decent target Lundstram yet an absolutely dire Lowe gets away with it game after game because he was a make weight for signing the MIA Bogle.

You think we'll be building on our midfield in January? Interesting.

We can all dream right. I did hedge by throwing the summer in there too.

At some stage we have to, was gutted we didnt last summer

when mousset is fit we have to get him and brewster together as a front 2 if thats the set up were going to carry on playing and tell em to give it everything for at least 65 minutes had high hopes of burke but think his best place is on the bench and then being used to run at tiring defenders in the last 20
When Mousset is fit ? When the fuck will that be ? And will he manage 45 mins or just 30 ?

Berge burst past 3 Leicester midfielders and created some forward momentum BUT HE DID IT ONLY ONCE IN THE GAME !
Why ?
When he decides to have a run with the ball he's almost unstoppable.
Why doesn't he do it more ?
Is he lazy ?
Is he under orders not to do it ?
Why ?

Because he was started in the central Deep lying play maker role and didn't go to the right till lundstram went off for Norwood? Chris is hardly going to want his deepest player who is meant to cover the defense to be making forward runs is he do you have any grasp of the midfield setup?

And yes let's sell our best midfield prospect for a pittance instead of developing him into a really good player or selling him for a lot more money than we paid makes great sense for the club.

the loss of form has nothing to do with berge and everything to do with the way covid changed the game, the super short off season due to the late end to the season and the players being cream crackered all our players had to not get injured and be at 100% all the time to keep last seasons pre covid play up unfortunately

berge confuses me. think our best midfield has berge, lundstram and fleck in it but don't want any of them in the middle. ampadu i guess #1 for that spot but that would mean benching lunny (our best midfielder in last few games + best fit for rcm) or berge (our best player).

Modelling for Sports Direct now is our Sander.

What exactly is 'our style' at this point?
We are trying desperately to rediscover our “style.” after trying to incorporate a very talented but ponderous midfielder into our system. But in doing so we’ve been caught in the Premier league headlights.

He will have a relegation clause and a team in Europe clause

Sander at RCB, could that be a thing?

In our system maybe.

But I don't think he'd want to pigeon hole himself into a specific role like that at this stage of his career.

To my eyes, Berge probably belongs as a deep lying central midfielder with at least one partner, allowing him to drive forward with the ball without fear of exposing himself. He needs players close to him so that he can move the ball on quickly. The way we play him is all wrong.

If he’d grown up in England he’d have been pigeon holed as a centreback coming up as a young player based on his size alone. He’d have to improve aerially to play there but he could do the overlapping certainly doubt he’d want too though.

if he does stay with us in the championship which is doubtful anyway would like to see him in the 2 in front of the back 3 and carrying the ball through midfield hes capable of doing that at championship level

He’s more than capable of doing that at prem level and at the start of this season was one of the best on the pitch for us although that was in a poor side. I agree playing deep in a two is what he’s done best before coming here although when he signed he said he’d come here to learn to be a complete player which probably means playing further forward.

Come on stop beating around the bush what do you really think?

Prior to him signing, he was a player who i was aware of. I was excited by his actual signing & level of fee, and thought it showed the direction we were headed.

In retrospect, he's done nothing whilst at the club, messed up the mdifield as we've tried to shoehorn him in, and but for his injury, i would've hoped that he would leave in the JTW. I don't think that he possesses either the mental or physcical attributes that are needed in the championship and he represents £15m to £20m of scarce resources that we can can best use elsewhere.

Until the end of last season I would have had him down for the Norwood role only. But after tormenting Spurs & Chelsea with his quick feet and power, I wouldn’t be against giving him a run in the Duffy role.

He is easily good enough for the Premiership, just needs better players around

The thinking that a good player upsets our balance of hard working shyte is why we always end up shyte, because the one good player always leaves for somebody average, for average money and gets his big move from there, not from us.

We were challenging for europe before he arrived.

The days of our workmanlike stereotype had already been put behind us.

My criticism of Berge is both because on a personal level I don’t think he does nearly enough, and at a team level our premier league form has been better without him.

And we were a good second division side when Sabella arrived,

The club always thinks it's done enough if it signs one good player.

We've seen Berge's natural position on many videoclips before he arrived, and midfield stopper or right wing back isn't it

It's not these players fault that the one good player we have can't find his feet in amongst the shit that surrounds them

Spot on, when he learns a bit more (he's still young) he will destroy teams in Duff's role

Got to admit he's disappointed me so far, what I'd hoped for was a midfield general, some one in the mould of Coutts or Currie who would eventually controlled the way we play and the tempo of our game,,
Who knows maybe given time he could become that, Currie was that practically right from the start at 18, but Coutts needed time to settle in and maybe he's some where in the middle, only time will tell, unfortunately time is something we don't have a lot of right now....
