Well we're just back from the lane where we were kindly allowed to attend and take part in this afternoons press conference....

Micky Adams has been confirmed as the new manager of Sheffield United with a two-and-a-half year contract. Alan Cork, the last Blades player to score at Wembley, has come in as his number two and the pair take charge with immediate effect. As confirmed by Trevor Birch, Sam Ellis and John Carver will be leaving the club.

It was a bit of a last minute thing that we were called down to the Lane. Chris Steer, the Football Club Chairman confirmed that the decision to appoint Adams had been reached within the last 48 hours.

A few key quotes:

Micky Adams on Alan Cork: "He's the best centre-forward coach around".

Alan Cork: "It's great to be back. Once you're a Blade, you're always a Blade. I've been working with Gary Megson so I was on the phone to him this morning to say the best club in town is on its way back."

Chris Steer: "Teamwork, from the top of the football club to the bottom, is the answer to United's problems. Micky Adams is passionate, with clear goals and is the man for the job."

Chris Steer, when asked for a message for the fans - "Back him". His overall message was that of teamwork and that includes the fans, he understands sometimes we might not have much to shout about, but that we need to be together to drive the club forward.

Micky Adams on style of play: "We want a winning style. We want to get the ball in the box as soon as we can without taking that extra touch. I want passion from the players and a pride in wearing the shirt."

Micky Adams on a message to the players: "I haven't met them yet, but my message to them will be 'let's have a go'."

We also had a quick chat with Alan Cork following the press conference, to summarise, here's what he said:

"It's great to be back, once you've been here before, you are then forever a Blade, there's also still a few around I know and recognise".

He can't wait to sample the atmosphere again, says that when the Kop is in voice there is nothing like it and thats what we want back.

He's mentioned to his lad before his visits to the lane to make sure he gives a listen before kick off, to listen to the song, that's special.

Says it will of course be hard work, but then it's never any different anywhere else.

He said we've got games coming up thick and fast and need to start work straight away at a difficult time.

Overall, just seemed happy to be back and chomping at the bit to get out there and get started.

Oh, and the beard, the first question I asked him... It depends how we get on against Villa and he'll see... but he's not sure his Mrs will agree to it - though as I recall, he said that last time :D

Cheers Foxy, much appreciated and much more extensive than our inept local radio station thus far.

Big up to SSN who have had two interviews already.

Looks like Birchy is farting on our new leader already! (see second pic!)

:D

We'd have like to have done more, but I've only got one arm at the moment and we weren't exactly prepared for it being today :D

Nah den, tha's done more than RS. I emailed the w@nkers there and got a reply from fat boy bennett saying they couldn't stream it because it was in the Bramall Lane boardroom. Then he stated that they had already decided to focus solely on live games rather than FH at this time of year.
They didn't have the manpower, apparently. Whose fault is that then? Just wait till MM gives father ted the bullet in the new year after Udders account for them on the 3rd, and it'll be another w@nkfest there.

Well done on a great job with the press conference..

Not seen the interviews yet. Are they around the net at all?

Alan Cork, the last Blades player to score at Wembley...

And you realise that Cork's goal was 50% of all the goals we have scored at Wembley ever?

Micky, the bar is set pretty low.

Yeah right Scoob - he's just tweeted (twatted in his case?) that he's off to the ice hockey...

Well done Foxy, you covered the important bits well and speedily. We'll have to call you "Scoop".

Can I point out the "we" means it was me and Linz, not just me on my lonesome :D

Cheers Foxy Cheers Linz great job for us all. I dont know about the rest of you, I have no thoughts about where we'll go from here. it seems agreat time just to have fun on here without the constant bickering. I love it when people like silverfox find the funny bit(thanks SF). If we cannot keep a clean sheet then balls in the box and goals more than the opposition will at least give us something to shout about through this struggling time.

Foxy, I just hope your lightbulbs dont start popping.

Thank you to Linz and Foxy, we Blades at a distance really appreciate your efforts.
It had already been emailed to my daughter and two Blades grandsons accross the town.
IMO taking everthing into account since the appaling decision to appoint Robson, and from the names banded around this is a good appointment and one which eventually improve everything at the lane.
Very pleased
UTB

Thank You to both of you.

I hope the 'style of play' comment is not to be taken literally!

Not too fussed about style at the moment - just want us to win some games and get away from the relegation zone. Getting the ball into the box quickly is fine as long as it isn't done aimlessly. Personally I prefer pace & power & running at people (eg Spurs) to tedious over-passing.

You have your standards mate. I'll stick to mine if that's OK?

I am a new posters i like to say lets get behide Micky Adams and just remember them days he had in the premi league.I was shocked to see Micky manange Port Vale as i think the championship is his league.I hope this move works out and once again become a good team like we were under Neil Warnock who ran away to easily from the club.

Great work guys. Put Radio Sheffield et al to shame. Super coverage.

I have in mind some amusing captions/thought bubbles (tongue in cheek) I could put to your photos but wont do it without your permission to use the photos!
