Couldn’t agree more, he’s watching his stock fall rapidly. People were talking about the England job this time last year, now it’s just a case of how long this carries on as the failings are a consequence of his own actions.

Seriously he's exposed right now and doesn't know what to do about it. He has to change this up, even if it doesn't come off at least he's tried something different, what's he got to lose? Make changes to the system and players.
 
I feel for him, as I do the owner. Even the most pessimistic amongst our fanbase didn't see this shitstorm coming.

But, it's a brutal business, and both of them know this better than anyone. I honestly didn't think the Wilder era would end for a while yet; I saw him leading us out for at least a few more years. But the PL is serious gravy and if we don't get a couple of wins on the board before January, then I honestly cannot see how any owner would let things carry on as they are, no matter how much we all love the manager.

Then again, Burnley made a long term decision to stick with Dyche, and it paid off, despite a relegation.

There is no way a club can go a whole season playing this poorly and getting such awful results and stick with the same manager. The atmosphere around the club would be horrendous by the summer and I don’t think even Wilder could turn that around. I saw a very good post on another thread today (think it was by Davalon ) pointing out that momentum can be negative as well as positive and I don’t want to go into next season in that kind of shape.

For me he has the five games before the end of the year to show he can at least take us down fighting. If he can’t do it by then, what are we waiting for? We need to start planning for next season and a new manager might want the JTW to begin that process.

Wilder has ensured we will have a prem parachute budget for the next few years. Without him we would never have had a sniff at the prem.
He mamaged to get us Promoted on a shoestring budget with a squad of lg1 players. Invested what he was allowed but never enough money to get his primary targets in. He identified players now doing well for other clubs. Cash Robinson Wilson...

With Wilder we wont get above single digit points this season.

Get fresh blood in and make a fight of it at least. Better to go down on 29 points than go down on 9

Robinson. Substandard, sold for a loss.
Robinson. Championship level player, to be used in emergencies only.
Freeman. Substandard, on loan. Can't get a game in a shit Forest team.
Moose. Not fit for purpose, will be sold at a considerable loss.
Berge. Decent player. Not fit for purpose, hopefully sold at break even.
McBurnie. Jury still out.
Brewster. Paid top money for someone too young, too inexperienced, one for the future.
Ramsdale. PL money for a championship level keeper.
Lowe. Middling Championship level player who appears to be worse & older than a LWB we already had.
Bogle. Current whereabouts unknown.

I'd respectfully suggest it's not the amount that we've spent, it's a question of who we've spent it on.🤔

I cannot believe we are happy to just roll over and accept relegation.

I'm not gonna hammer CW over his transfer dealings & general management this year due to my recognition of his past achievements but he has had longer than any other manager to turn this around and he can't.

We must make a change now before it is too late.
 
100% behind Wilder. There is noone in the English football pyramid that could do a better job with the resources at his disposal (with the possible exception of Dyche.) We will go down with a lean wage bill, parachute payments and a squad of young players that can grow with the club and bring in serious money. It was always a matter of time. Bouncing back is imperative as we'd be in a much stronger position given said young players already being in place. If we're nowhere near by Christmas I might revise my view.
 
Agree there’s no one else I would want managing us in the championship. Our wage bill isn’t going to cripple us well have parachute payments.
We’ve already got a decent championship squad.

But they were all secondary targets for Bogle read Cash , for Brewster read Wilson etc , we cannot pay the wages of say a Barclay on loan !
Chris is hamstrung by the level of wages we can pay and this was coming and don’t forget any incoming manager has the same budget that makes it hard at this level.
Think the prince has gone above and maybe beyond with the money he has but you need a pot full of cash to maintain a squad to stay in this league !

At the end of the day, it makes fuck all difference what you, I or anyone else outside of the ownership's inner circle think. There's little point in getting into these ridiculous, entrenched positions where everyone shouts at everyone else who doesn't share their views and we end up divided into clappers and slashers (or stickers and twisters maybe now). Not everyone who disagrees with you is wrong; not everyone who agrees with you is right, and not everyone who doesn't toe the line is a fucking pig.

We'll have absolutely no input into whether the management team stays or goes. Even less so than in a normal season, as we can't even get into the stadium to voice our support (or lack thereof, dependent on your viewpoint). All this anger, name-calling and one-upmanship is tiring and ultimately pointless. Que sera sera; we'll all still be Blades at the end of it.

I think you have a point. If we keep going like this, his relationship with the players could suffer. They could lose faith in him. However, we could sack him and a new manager might not be able to turn it round. Then we have the same problem. Like Derby with Jewell after they sacked Davies. He’d have probably been OK to get them back up but after several months of them being shit in the PL, the players lost faith with him and he had to go too.

So, my gut feeling is we should hang on for a while, and maybe Wilder has to take one for the club, see it out until we’re down and see what the mood is like. If the players no longer have confidence in him, he has to go. Give the new bloke a full pre-season and transfer window so he’s got the best chance of getting us back up. Of course, if the opportunity to bring in a really good manager came up, it would need to be considered but I’m not up for “rolling the dice” and getting someone like Pardew in, and I can’t see many decent managers wanting to take over right now. New season and parachute payments may attract a better quality manager.

Yeah, fair points there.

I'll admit I go back and forth on this: I thought going into the West Brom game that, if we lost, maybe it was time for Wilder to go. Then we turned in a pretty decent performance (not perfect but better) and I thought maybe he would turn it around. But yesterday was another depressing spectacle.

I don't mind going down because I think the club is in a strong position to succeed at that level and possibly bounce back within a season or two. I am truly sick of the negative, boring football we have been playing since February-ish. That's part of why I'm open to someone new having a crack at it.
