The Premier League have a global audience, so given such a great like Maradonna has died, do you;

It happened 34 years ago, or are you one of those who can’t get over WWII either and still sing anti-German songs at World Cup and Euros.. Get over it and grow up.
I don’t think that time will change the fact that Hitler was a bit of a cunt. Obviously some people put Diego in the same category!

I can’t really remember seeing Diego play and I’m completely ambivalent to the bloke, I really don’t understand the coverage he’s got this week. His passing is up there with Bob Monkhouse on my scale of being bothered.

Idiot remark in fact here’s a little reminder as it obviously annoys you...once a cheat always a cheat 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Agree with a minutes silence at games for footballers, but not sure it extends to players who are from a different hemisphere, have never played in this country, and seemed to brag about cheating us out of a WC semi-final spot

Will stadia in Argentina fall silent when Sir Geoff Hurst passes?
He scored a hat trick to lift the World Cup and unless it’s been kept quiet didn’t shoot journo’s or hoover up coke.

Would disrespect by boo-ing tho.

What’s your point?
We shouldn’t sell Poppy’s and remember those that gave their lives so we don’t all Sprechen Sie Deutsch?

Think we’re over it, life goes on an all that, but don’t mean you forget the wrong doings.

Not up for celebrating the life of him, not just that goal, but the whole life style

If smack head Dave off the estate pegged it, having cheated benefits, shot at people and in reality died early due to a lifetime of drug abuse would you celebrate his life, or his death?!

Did you just compare Maradona to Hitler?
Fortunately not, I was commenting on the point above about people not forgetting WW2 either. Although come to think of it, Maradona is short and has black hair, he just needs the tache 🥸

As a footballer, Maradona was so good that the only way most other players found to stop him was by kicking him up in the air. Wasn't that cheating?
The endless kickings he got meant that he was playing week after week with pain-killing injections, Of course we class them as 'good' drugs but I can see why the lines between that and the Coke may have been a little blurred from his point of view.
In the 1990 World Cup he was virtually playing on one Leg with a set of teammates that were a shadow of the 86 team. Almost singlfootedly he got that team closer to the World Cup than any England team has manged since 66.
I don't think Lineker would have cheated like that but I could imagine Gazza doing it and although the FA and their ilk would have sneered, I think that we as fans wouldn't have given a shit, especially if it ultimately led to us winning the World cup.
I've seen Pele play but my memories aren't strong before the 70 World Cup, by which time I don't think he was close to being the best player in the Brazilian team, so for me Maradona is the best I've seen

If we are going to pay respect to any individual at a football game, then this guy has to be up there on talent and impact.

I agree with those who say Maradona is the greatest ever player. Ronaldinho may have the best highlights package 🥰, but the tortured Argentine genius is the only individual player I can think of who 'won' leagues and cups for teams.

Also, I think that 2019 film about his time at Napoli is the best football documentary I have seen (I'm excluding 'United' 😊).

Half of you would boo.

Your parents will be sooooooo proud 👎.

UTB

My mam and dad would boo along with the rest of us. In fact, it was my dad that rang me and said, 'have yer heard that cheatin fat argie prick has shook a 7?'
it doesn't matter...cos everybody loves you when you're dead.

A minute of silence for one of the greatest football players ever is fully warranted.

The fact he took drugs and was overweight has nothing to do with it.

If Brian Deane turned into a fat cunt in his old age would we not have a minute's silence for him when he dies?

Pele also has nothing to do with it so I don't understand the poll options.

Fantastic footballer in his day, absolute dickhead of a man in life (or was most of the time that he was off his nut on drugs). Personally, I have no time for the idiot and certainly won't be remembering the little Argentinian with any fondness.

As someone earlier posted, would anyone in Argentina be having a minutes silence if Geoff Hurst pegged it? Would they fuck.

Id rather have a minutes silence for people closer to home who have contributed to our country and its football heritage. Far more people out there who have not had Maradonas natural ability but put their lives to much better use that that little tit ever did.

Each to their own, but I don't agree with the minutes silence at all. Oh, and because people gave their lives for us in WW2, I am allowed to have my own opinion. And if you don't think that then maybe you should be the one to 'grow up'.

He may very well be one of the greatest players of all time, but having a minutes silence for someone that never played in the country, had no effect on the English game (other than cheating)...No thanks

Couldnt disagree more. The fact he lived his life as he did, has everything to do with it. Just because he was once very good at his day job, doesn't make all the shit he did after he finished that job alright. He was a disgrace of a chap in reality.

Why was he a disgrace?

Why was he a disgrace?

Read his biography. And read the news. I also think it's not really on to start shooting at people either (even journalists). Cheeky little lovable rogue that he was. He was clearly only playing with his gun.

Read his biography.

I don't want to, I've never particularly liked the man.

I still think he deserves to have a minute's silence though.

Lots of footballers are twats who make poor life decisions and end up killing themselves through drink and drugs. George Best, Brian Clough, Gazza etc.

They should still be remembered for their contributions to the game.

Six years ago there were 35,000 Blades packed into Wembley cheering a goal scored by our very own druggy.

We still have a player playing for us now who cheated in exactly the same way Maradona did and was castigated for the rest of his career for it.

People need to get over it.

I realise 2020 dictates that you’ve got to howl with outrage as if you’ve got Kelly Brook back “for a coffee” and your todger is softer than warm dugshite, but can we have a “not reyt arsed either way” option next time?

Without question one of the best players the world has ever seen, but a minute’s fucking silence to reflect on the fact his drug-addled life was cut short, really?

Amazes me that there are so many people referring to the fact he was a drug taker to justify their hatred of the bloke.
I bet their music collections are a right hoot.

Maradona may have had issues with drugs, and if that is the way you judge a person's character then so be it. No doubt his life was complex and he was a flawed character.

I'm less bothered about that personally. If you dislike left wing politics you won't be swayed by this article, but if we can (rightly I think) applaud Rashford for his recent efforts:

...and they don't mention it here, but he campaigned for the Palestinian people as well.

...but he did use his hand to score a goal, so he must be a bad man. Oh, and he got fat as well.

I've not spoken out loud for 23 years as I have a minutes silence for anyone I have ever heard of dying.
That's 1440 people per day or over 12 million in 23 years. The only person who could have heard of that many people is God.

If that really is you oh mighty one, I have a request.....please can you arrange for us to have 15 clean sheets and score 50 goals in the rest of this season to get us out of the mess we're in.

If Brian Deane turned into a fat cunt in his old age would we not have a minute's silence for him when he dies?

Yes we would, but would supporters of River Plate, Boca or Banfield?

I think the send off they gave him in his homeland is deserved.

However why are we?

Maradona scored 34 goals from 91 internationals
Shearer scored 36 from 63

Do you think the Argies will ever hold a minute silence for any one of our players?

Booing is bollocks and is akin to the actions of a petulant child, throwing a strop and not getting his / her own way.

Think what you like about the Argie. That is your prerogative.

Booing as a means of expression is for pond life 😀.

I just read obituaries and war memorials to keep me topped up. Need to show respect obviously.

Maradona is a midfielder and creator, Shearer isnt
