That was Haller's 3rd goal for the shammers so he is currently costing £15m per goal on his transfer fee. If we assume he has been employed for 65 weeks his wages have been an extra £2.7m for each goal so he's currently costing them nearly £18m for each of his goals.

This is why we need to be better at scouting in Africa, South America and the lower European leagues. We need to lure players in these areas who are showing huge promise and proving their worth with the premier League glow and hope one or two become stars. You would think these types of players are low wages.

We don’t physically need people travelling all over the world watching wonder kids we’ve never heard of. All PL teams will have a worldwide scouting network.

The issue that we have is that our transfer strategy focuses on British players. It’s the strategy that needs to change if our fans insist on seeing foreign superstars.

The problem we have is that we don't have a wide scouting network and therefore we're paying over the odds in fees and struggling with wages. In summer we had to battle with other clubs to sign players and other clubs are more minted than we are and less concerned about sensible recruitment.

That's true. But we've been around since 1889. Having a scouting network shouldn't be new to us.

We should have a few overseas scouts and agent contacts at the very least.

My understanding is that there are agencies all over the world providing scouting services to English clubs, we just tap into the network, takes minutes to setup.
