Completely hypothetical (well maybe not totally hypothetical but anyway) and just a fun question more than owt.

Would you rather go out in the third round of the FA Cup and stay up or.....do a Wigan and win the FA Cup but get relegated?

Given how long it is since we’ve won a major trophy, would anyone take that with relegation? Or does retaining our Premier League status completely outweigh that feat?

I suspect we're going to be disappointed this season but will say a win in the cup may do wonders for morale.

Stay up, easily for me. That in itself would be a momentous achievement at the stage we are in.
From memory the prize money is not that high for FA Cup either (<2m).
I find that a bit barmy.

What the flying **** has prize money got to do with it when over £100,000,000 a year gets pissed up against the wall in any case?

Winning a major honour, even the devalued FA Cup, is a far, far bigger prize than finishing 17th in the Premier League awaiting our inevitable relegation in the next few seasons anyway.

Not that either looks likely, especially considering Watford's miserable experience, but if it had to be a choice between one or the other I'd take the cup win 100 times out of 100

It's too far out there to contemplate.

The football Gods have decreed that Sheffield United shall never reach it's full potential nor have that special one day in the sun that other clubs of the same stature have enjoyed in a lifetime.

Short lived soirees to the top flight every decade or two and the odd cup semi final is the summit for us.

The irony of finally getting to a cup final only to have to decide which 10k fans can go to Wembley to watch it!!

I’ve always thought that I would die happy if I’d seen us win the FA cup so it’s a cup win for me every time. I’ve see us promoted to the top flight three times in my life and I expect I will again. That elusive cup final has always been just out of reach - How about a cup win + relegation this year + championship title next year deal?!!

On a related note I always wonder about the Arsenal cup game from last season which we missed out on as lockdown started. Considering they beat us in the last minute after project restart, would we have beaten them with a full lane and a Wembley semi final at stake?

FA Cup, no question. 3 have had 3 promotions to the Prem in my Blade viewing lifetime.I expect we will have several more. We have not won a cup in several lifetimes beyond that. That memory and achievement will live a lot longer.

Cup all day long for me, let's face it, it's highly unlikely we'll establish ourselves as a Premier League club for the next 10 or 20 years so a major trophy would be amazing for a club like us.

I'd like to be alive when we lift a major trophy.
I, with due respect, believe you mean cognizant, when we lift a trophy.
Having had my three score years and ten+ I realise I could be alive but not aware. Smiley face.
Anyone know why I have no emojis on my top bar. Thanks, for any help.

FA Cup for me, we go down there is a good chance we could go back up first time asking.

Winning something would be a sensational achievement. FA cup all day long for me.

It does seem to cycle like that doesn't it, couple of plucky semi finals are all that's missing from wilders cv...

Owd gets in convo here!!
