I dont care whether that opinion is controversial or not. I'm not saying Gary Megson is the right man for the job.....we dont know who is at the moment, but it beggars belief that the majority would sooner see poor results continue (even relegation) rather than giving it to someone who could potentially get immediate results to sort us out - which is what we desperately need.

Utter rubbish I am sorry to say. Tribalism is what football is all about. Also if you hire Megson you give the players an excuse to fail. Bottom of page 3 and your the 1st to give him any type of support and you don't rule it out as a bad idea. Insane, I think I have seen it all now.

I am just waiting for the club to advertise the MOM text thing for Saturday and I think I will have seen it all

Where on earth have I offered him support?!!! We dont even know if he's in the running yet! (another reason this bashing of him is pathetic). I am merely pointing out that I want the right man in charge.....if that isnt Megson then I dont want Megson but in terms of matters on the pitch (not off it) I can think of far worse candidates that have been mentioned. He isnt my preferred choice.....in fact he's half way down the list, but we cant afford to rule anyone out in the situation we are in!

How does it give the players an excuse to fail exactly? They're failing at the moment so they clearly dont need an excuse. Not insane mate, just rational to keep an open mind.....sorry I forgot.....the tribe doesnt do that. Football is what football is all about.....you can keep tribalism.

nails mate.. mind you i suppose they have those fancy furry motson coats on the right way round to keep em warm.. the anti megson feelings on here actually have less to do with tribalism toward wednesday than some of the nasty and insulting things he said about us at wba and bolton.. he obviously never considered the fact that he might end up applying for a job here.. i dont' think people have a problem with ex wendy's.. but it does depend on how they have conducted themselves in the past.. e.g. carlton palmer would have 'no' chance for the same reasons

I understand that sp and its quite clear that a massive con to appointing him would be the reaction from supporters, but I just think we should be more focused on looking at who can get us out of this mess. I'm not necessarily suggesting Megson can, but I do think he has certain qualities you need in a manager when you're struggling. As I said, not my first choice but a lot better qualified than some that are being touted for it.

Names like O'Driscoll make me shake my head in disbelief. I have nothing against the man but someone who plays tippy-tappy footbal with a side that has had its core together for a number of years is not what we need! O'Driscoll is exactly the sort of manager we dont need to keep us up! Time to get ugly I'm afraid.....a Warnock, an Adams, a Megson, or even a Bassett type character is what we need. A snarling wind up merchant that kicks the players up the arse :mad:

what worries me more is we've had a few games trying to play more football and everyone is saying we need a bassett/warnock/adams figure.

Its a good point puppet, but I think its more a reflection of the lack of patience amongst football supporters. They want pretty football but they want it overnight. Me?....I just want us to win.
 
Unfortunately Puppet, It is not about football now but survival. We would all love an O'driscoll type with a bit of cash. Unfortunately We have a team who can't play football and with no money to improve the team we are bit stuck!
 
You won't see me in the Lane with that shit in charge. His comments after the Battle of Bramall Lane still stick in my throat and it disappointed me that the club didn't pursue him in the courts for defamation.
 
Megson... A massive NO from me. Can't stand the grunter, hate him so much because of his wednesday background. His part in the Battle of Bramall Lane made me hate him so much more :mad:
 
No to Megson, I actually don't think he would be foolish enough to apply as he saw what happened to him at Bolton where no one wanted him in the first place and eventually he got the push and I don't even think he had "history" with their fans!

Thank christ for that. Like I said on another thread, if gingertwat get's it, I'm gonna upgrade my ST to south stand, right behind the dug out, and come win, lose or draw, just make the man's life on matchday a misery. I would feel that strongly about it.
 
I wouldn't boycott United if Megson was manager. As others have said, I'd get behind him, until his first mistake. Then I'd just give him grief, and plenty of it.

Mistakes could be -

Losing a match.
Drawing a match.
Not winning a match by a big enough margin.
Not buying me a opint in the Lion before the game.
Wrong choice of touchline attire.
Wrong choice of hair.
Wrong choice of face.
Wrong choice of whether to breathe or not.

Megson has ruled himself out. Must be an avid reader of the main SUFC boards.
 
Megson ruled himself out of ever managing United a month ago on Kamara's show. To me it looks like he was asked for his opinion on Saturday and what needed to be done. Well I can hope that Birch and McCabe never at any point asked him
 
It's only the sense of fear amongst Blades that the twat might be in contention that ruled himself in, so to speak.
