John Lundstram 'set to leave Sheffield United in January'

He should be training in isolation now and be nowhere near the 1st team.

If he is selected to play then how will the other players that are left out feel? Pissed off i would think.
He's also asking for it from the fans if he doesn;t perform at his best. Leaving him out is surely best for the club, and let;s face it, he aint that special is he?

that’s the disappointment of the summer window for me too

we knew JOC wasn’t right and Lundstram potentially/probably wouldn’t sign - we managed to spend £50m and rightly or wrongly neither of those 2 areas was addressed. Our position is self inflicted in terms of being without cover.

It remains to be seen how Brewster / ramsdale and bogel do - but perhaps there’s money spent that could have been better utilised. Better back up at LCB and a midfielder and the situation/season might look different.

That said it’s not that long until January. We just have to pick up some wins in the interim to keep us in the mix.

JOC - did we know he wasn´t right?

Lundstram - As it stands we have...

Norwood
Fleck
Berge
Osborn
Ampadu
Rodwell
Lundstram

To cover the midfield. Do we really need any more than that? 7 central midfielders?

The way I see it, is that we need Lunny to put in some quality performances between now and january. If he does that, then it may encourage a few lower PL teams/ Championship teams to put in a bid for him in the window.
Getting a few million transfer fee in January can be used towards his replacement

Rangers mate, they will have told him to turn the contact offer down and get him for next to nothing because they haven't got the fee but can offer him more money. Stick him on the bench!!
Moyes gave him his first contract and is short of box to box player's I suppose either could be his destination spammer's would be willing to pay more

I dont think he has played well at all this season and some silly yellow cards early in games have also mean he has had to be more cautious for the remaining majority time of the match, again reducing his effectiveness.
However he has every right to play down his contract (and look to secure his financial future) as we have the equal right to not select him. I do think it was obvious he wasnt going to sign for a long time and perhaps CW was still hoping he’d sign and waiting longer than we should have. Also think he sees that he will never be a future starter, as he can see how the club have released (past) important players as they progressed through the leagues and replaced with higher quality, as is the expectation and need.

Lad seems right up his own arse, and as previously mentioned, looks a cunt. He's exactly the kind of player we don't want at the club. This kind of contract bollocks breeds negativity, and it's nailed on he's shared his bright ideas with many of the other lads

In what way does he seem 'right up his own arse' and 'looks a cunt' ?

Maybe CW has been giving him more time on the grass than he should in the hope that he will sign. I think it may well be different now he has stated he is not signing

Some of the reactions on here lol

the lad wants to better himself contract wise, we have offered our valuation and we disagree, fair enough

if he was acting a twat or not pulling his weight off the field he wouldn’t be near anyone but it seems he isn’t and he is doing everything expected from him

I have said it several times, I wouldn’t start him but the way some on here are reacting to him is bizarre, it’s almost top 6 club fan base mentality when someone wants to leave, how dare they

£500,000 tops If we get anything it will be £500,000 tops.

Or "Undisclosed", which in this case would probably mean change from a 3 week old half-eaten bag of crisps.

Because he’s acting like he’s better than us, which on recent form he isn’t. Sure, if he was Ronaldo then it’d be obvious that he deserved a bigger and better stage on which to perform, but he isn’t is he?

And people are saying he looks like a cunt because he has the facial features of a cunt.

I would be very very surprised if it’s an offer say in the top 5 earners.
And so, I am very surprised. This from Sutcliffe in the Athletic: “a new contract that Wilder insists would put him among the “top-four or -five paid players” at Bramall Lane.”

Also, a little more re: attitude that feels different to what he said in the press conference and perhaps is a stronger indication of whether he’ll continue to be picked:

“He is still a talented player and his attitude has been decent. Speaking to him over these nine or 10 months, the one thing I’ve said is there is no downside. He understands that and agrees with me, how there is no benefit to not trying to do as well as he possibly can.

“But I still think there is maybe that little bit in it. Can he give everything and 100 per cent when he may not think his future is here? Personally, I don’t think I would and I don’t think the majority of footballers would be comfortable with that situation.

There was also some indication that our valuation of him in the summer may have been in the £15m region. If that’s true, no wonder there were No Bids.

He’s obviously going for a huge signing fee and wages as the buying club will save on a transfer fee. His motives are entirely money motivated.

I would fully expect him to refuse a move in Jan to go for free in summer and enhance his position.

What way is he acting better than us?? Wanting a better contract with more money ?? You may want to sit down for this one but their is only probably Billy ( maybe Rambo) who would put their feelings towards the club ahead of getting a better contract and more money, that’s not acting bigger than the club

As for facial features ha ha, all I can say is some people must have had some bad experiences if that’s what they looked like

I think the question is, can we afford to exclude him from the squad?

I don't think we can. I suspect he'll not be starting games but we've only got a limited pool of midfielders.

That highlights Lunny is getting above his station and it seems it was purely based on the purple patch he had.

Lundstrum might go to another club like West ham for big wages. And in a month he will be on the bench.

He is at a club with a manager that loves him and plays him every week. The contract offer sounds fair. He is making a huge mistake imo. His agent is a prick. But also lunny is a prick for listening to him so as far as I am concerned he can fuck off now. He's nowhere near good enough to be acting like this and he's been a weak link this season so far.

If Max Lowe is fit for Saturday then Osborn should move up to LCM. Leave Ampadu & Berge in their positions, drop Lundstram. Leave it like that til Fleck is back injuries permitting.

Lundstram can do one now.

Ampadu is not allowed to play against Chelsea. If Wilder wants to maintain the work rate and mobility in midfield, while still having Berge at RCM, there's an argument for playing Lundstram in DCM.

I would imagine he pays good money to that agent to get him a better deal and maybe that agent has got him a better deal, who knows

We are in a similar situation to the one Ryan Fraser has gotten into (twice). You know you are leaving and you know that if you were to get injured before January then your value to a potential new employer disappears. Are you really going to make that last 50 yard run in the 88th minute to get on the end of a cross? Or really stretch to make that last gasp tackle?

I can't answer that and I'm not even sure the player can. Which is probably enough reason to leave him out, regardless of the fact that we are so short in midfield.

But it definitely reinforces the mess we made of the summer transfer window

Because he’s acting like he’s better than us,

You sure you aren't just being a bit precious? He's decided not to sign a contract, he's not wiping his bollocks across your forehead while you sleep.

That would be a concern, which is why I'm sure if Rangers were interested we'd like a pre-contract agreement in place in January with them.
However, I'd think Lunny would rather wait to see what's on the table in the summer, which would mean there is the risk of the above which is why I guess Wilder would rather sell. Personally I don't think they'll be any interest from the PL though on the wages he wants.
