1 point is £15 for the game. That's obscene.

But then another point worth noting is that they've continued to stagger the Kick Off times to get as much money as possible. If the game hasn't been selected for UK Mainstream TV, then it should be Saturday 3pm.

They're staggering times to cash in

The mad thing is that PL say that clubs get all the revenue and that it was a PL decision.

Burnley chairman said that the broadcasters gave the clubs two choices..."PPV or no broadcasts".

What I don't get is that the games that are now PPV weren't chosen for broadcast in the first place...

Don't broadcasters have to bid to pay to show matches? To buy rights?

So the broadcasters have just forced the PL to charge fans so that broadcasters can increase their viewing figures by showing games that they haven't even bought the rights for?!?

It all makes less sense the more you find out
 
To be honest...it’s like saying “PL clubs receiving over £100 million a season is disgusting“ or “paying Messi £500K a week is disgusting“

In these things economics usually decides the price.
They’ve set a price of £14.95 per match because they feel confident that plenty of people will pay it.
So the trick is to refuse to pay.....if subscribers are low....then they’ll realise they’ve made a mistake.
They will then try various offers and might even lower the price.

The issue though is that for large sections of the country...especially down South and around London...£15 is small change.
Will be interesting to see how successful or unsuccessful this £15 a match scheme is.

I actually paid the £14.95 for the Fulham match because I was desperate to see our biggest match of the season and I was desperate to see Brewsters debut,
However unless it’s a vital relegation clash near the end of the season I won’t be paying this again,

£10 a match I’d pay for the big matches....probabably half our fixtures. £5 a match I’d pay for every single game.

I didn't pay the 15 quid and won't I have cancelled sky sports with Virgin it is ridiculous what they ask fans to pay, but as some say some will pay it needs ma blanket NO good on the Newcastle fans BTW and Blades St Luke's is a marvellous hospice.
 
I’d love know what the figures were tbh. There must be a point when it is not viable, especially as most of the games will include teams who aren’t part of the ‘big six’ as they are scheduled for the live games anyway. I doubt many watched us or Burnley.

if it does keep going then it will be interesting to see if in the next round of fixtures this is altered so the bigger teams are on PPV, and how that would go down.

I actually think all those involved have shot themselves in the foot anyway. It probably isn’t economic, they have shown themselves to be the money grabbing barstools they are, many people are now looking at their expenditure on football and cancelling sky sports completely and if PPV does show itself to be only viable for the bigger clubs they will either want to do that in future, which was already mentioned in the big picture debacle, or have more of the shared tv revenue. Either way the remainder of the teams will have much less TV income in the future.
 
It would be great if the club, players and senior management got involved in this very worthy local cause.
I would also like to see other clubs involved in a scheme to help local charities, using the Fifteen Obscene logo.
Ludlum blade has shown how simple and effective it is, to give fans a voice, when all other avenues are currently closed to them.
 
As I understand it, sky and bt sport pay for a certain number of games per season. Is there anything to stop the Premier league selling the remaining games to another broadcaster? Matches on Dave hosted by Dara O'brien and Josh Widdecombe, or maybe on Babestation, where an over made up trollop tries to entice you to pay a fiver for a close up action replay of a goal.
 
Do what I’m doing, a football version of go sober for October, I am still drinking but I am now not watching any football until after the next International break. I’m not missing the current iteration of football either although it’s only been three days.


Is it a coincidence this covers our fixtures against Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea...? possibly ... possibly not.
 



Sorry to bump an old thread, but just wanna jump in and say that Blades should be really proud of how much they've raised for St Lukes. 2 grand is not to be sniffed at for sure. Nice one
 
Am I missing something with this mini protest? Broadcasters are showing games, that wouldn’t be shown due to the reason that they weren’t due or scheduled to be shown, but they are doing to do so to accommodate fans who can’t go due to Covid and pay £30 on the gate per person. But we aren’t happy, we think it’s a great injustice that a family of 5 can watch for £3 a head. What should they do, offer it for nothing? Crikey, we can’t afford big wages as it is without giving things away!!

I think it's too expensive and personally I would be happy to have similar coverage to i follow. I've only seen i follow coverage this season so I don't know what it was like last season. I've seen several Harrogate Town games and the coverage is very basic with only one camera angle and Radio York commentary. There are action replays but no slow motion and definitely no expensive pundits. I think both Sky and BT Sport are trying to keep up their image and if they made it no frills they could charge a lot less.
I'd be quite happy to have film and no commentators and as games will only be of interest to fans of teams involved I don't see much need for a commentary - after all we don't get a commentary at the ground.
All the games are filmed anyway, so I think a basic screening could be done for £5 and that price might pull a few more punters in.

Exactly, that was my understanding that they are all filmed anyway so a basic broadcast off that didn't ought to be so expensive.

I only tried Ifollow once and it screwed up big time, only got to see part of the game, so I wouldn't be prepared to pay a single penny for a service like that.

Who decides what amount is obscene?
For the unemployed £5 a match is obscene. Whilst some Southerners would happily pay £30 a game on tv....to them £30 is small change.
The Liverpool game is the 1st game I’ve missed this season and I won’t be paying £15 for any tv match unless it’s a once a season special game.
I was desperate to see Brewster debut and was desperate to see our 1st win of the season. Was confident we‘d beat Fulham to kickstart our season.

Many 10000’s pay for Sky....i‘ve never had it because for me its not worth it.
I dont get time to watch too much tv....however if United had of their bigger games of the season I’d pay whatever I could afford.

I had to pay £80 to get a ticket away (included a meal) at MK Dons when we were promoted from league 1.
Seeing us clinch promotion with 9K Blades made the £80 worth it.

Agree thst in principle £15 is poor when normal PPV matches were previously £10.
Think they are trying their luck to see how far they can stretch loyalty. Hope it backfires....but this type is thing has happened for decades.
I won’t be paying £15 again.

That’s because these are additional matches, when you sign up for Sky Sports, it’s not on the basis that all matches are shown live.

It’s a bit like signing up for a mobile phone contract with 1GB of data per month then moaning you run out every month and expecting the provider to give you extra data for free. If you want services above and beyond what’s in your contract then you have to pay for them.

You are absolutely correct but of course you have the option to pay or not. What pisses me off about this is that so many are being asked to pay three time, Season ticket, Sky and then PPV so your analogy is good but maybe you can see why the OP of £15 being obscene is so spot on.

We haven’t paid for season tickets and Sky only covers 207 matches, so we aren’t paying 3 times. It’s just unfortunate that our matches haven’t all be selected as Sky/BT coverage.

Personally, I can’t be arsed with illegal streams so I want a PPV service, so the debate should be over the cost and not if PPV is right or wrong.
