Ampadu

Ampadu simply has to play - he's a footballer - a baller as I believe the name is now.

Doesn't panic - takes a touch, gets his head up and uses it in a positive way.

Well done to CWAK - it looks as though our midfield has developed or morphed yet again.

Still need Fleck back in and firing on all cylinders - even though Osborn was extremely good last night.

He was very good. Good enough that I think we need to find a place for him in our first choice 11.

He plays really good football, great passer and loads of composure. Only one we have comparable to Berge's level for me.
Easy, give him Lunnys shirt, if he doesn't want to play for United, then I'd let him sit on the bench, Osborn played really well last night, even if he was constantly up against the fact Stevens seems to be in decline.

Just watching again on sky now fiirst half and Berger was definitely brought down for apenalty at 1-0. Ref decided one penalty was enough no doubt
It definitely looked like a trip from the angle I saw on the highlights. I'm boycotting sky so I honestly couldn't see whether he caught him or not. The defender hung out a leg as Berge went past him. Maybe Sander needs to scream louder.

I can see him being another Hendo. A fans favourite, man of the match performances every week, indispensable to the team......Then buggers off back to his parent club.

I thought this after the game Saturday. He could be great for us

Quite possible, but not every Chelsea reserve or out on loan player can get in the Chelsea1st 11 or even 25 man squad - It may work out that Ampadu, at his age thinks playing regular football at his age is more important and CW decides he is one of our quality signings next summer.

Not many neutrals would have said we would get anywhere near Brewster.

Ryan Giggs could also be instrumental in wanting Ampadu to insist that for him to continue to play for Wales regularly then he really has to settle down with a permanent club and make sure he plays most weeks.

What's a massive shame is that Ampadu won't play in front of a full and packed ground as he is heading towards being a fans favourite.

After one full match ? You may be right but let’s not put pressure on the lad this early.
Asking him and Brewster to rescue our season is a big ask.

Its a shame for the lad, he’d love the Blades fans and he’d be well on his way to having his own song by now.

He’s pure class! If there’s any chance we can bring the lad in permanently we really should. We as fans worry about our goal return and put that down to our strikers. Which admittedly could’ve been better had we been more clinical. But for me we haven’t created enough. Against Liverpool we saw a huge improvement in this department. Ampadu not only broke up play but was also great at getting us going forward. He makes the game look simple. He also frees Berge up to play more advanced, which is exactly what we need.

Next window/next season:

Ampadu signed perm and if we can bring in a quality LCM we really should. I’m a huge fan of both Fleck and Osborn so don’t get me wrong here. But we need someone who is at least on a par with Fleck to improve this team going forward.

Lunny will most likely leave so I’m leaving him out of this scenario...

DCM: Ampadu/Norwood/Berge

RCM: Berge/Slater/Ampadu

LCM: ???/Fleck/Osborn

I’ve no idea how much Ampadu would cost. But if he’s not in Chelsea’s plans then hopefully he’s attainable.
And I’ve no idea who the LCM player would be... but can you imagine how much stronger that midfield would be!
The great news is that two of those players are here with us now!

Surely this is exactly what we would want from this type of loan signing?

If Chelsea suddenly made Ampadu available to sign permanently, following a successful half or full season with us, there will be clubs interested in him that will probably out bid us with ease both here and abroad. I cannot see a permanent signing being remotely likely.

Here's the problem when a club like ours tries to sign someone from the top tier of clubs...

I actually mentioned this in another post when I was discussing the overseas market.
I fully agree... Chelsea snap these players up and give them ridiculous wages.
But that article to me suggests we are paying his full wage as it stands. Ampadu was signed from Exeter and he’s never really cut it at Chelsea so you’d hope he wasn’t offered a bumper deal like Loftus (who looked like being a World beater two seasons ago)
I think it’s very possible as I just don’t think he’s in their (Chelsea’s) future plans.
That might change if Ampadu is a huge success whilst he’s here granted. But then again that could also sway Ampadu himself to force the move.

It’s a fair point... and one that I’d not considered... having said that though I’m forever the optimist and believe a player will go to the club that suits him best and that could well be us

Ampadu played really well as did Berge- the video is great- but not just those pair- we played really really well.

Oh for a goalscorer- then hey ho you never know we may just stay up.

The ball to McB if meant- was sweet as a nut,.

I don’t actually think it was... but would’ve liked to have seen what would have happened had Brewster been the second striker!
And imagine if Osborn volley flies into the ol onion bag!
Was a very encouraging performance all round.

Wouldn't it be great if we arranged a loan to buy with fee already sorted.

What impressed me most was the fact that his headers are guided somewhere and mostly get there.

Such a change from seeing balls, over the years, just being consistently headed anywhere when there was a safe option from which we could develop something.

How refreshing!
It’s also a quality that he brings a particular aerial strength that Norwood and Berge both lack – unsurprisingly given he’s played much of his football in the middle of defence.

I think we've seen his position at DM. Combines a bit of Norwood's passing range with some of Berge's engine and strength (with the added bonus of releasing him for his "rampaging elephant" role at RCM.).

Real shame we've got Chelsea coming up as we can't do it again due to loan rules..
Named in the sofa score premiership team of the week
