🎵 Amp-a-du du du push pineapple shake the tree.
Amp-a-du du du push pineapple grind coffee 🎵

Need to make it a bit more footbally.

🎵Amp-a-du du du push the goalie and score three
Amp-a-du du du push the goalie score for me
Runs to the left Runs to the right
Up and Down and its a breeze
Come score a goal or three with a
Blades song melody🎵

I never thought I’d be actively preferring the unimaginative use of the “du du dudududu, Ethan Ampadu” song that Wales go for, previously used by us for Lavery and Washington. And yet...

The old Porterfield chant fits..We'll take good care of you,Ampadu,Ampadu.

He’s pure class! If there’s any chance we can bring the lad in permanently we really should. We as fans worry about our goal return and put that down to our strikers. Which admittedly could’ve been better had we been more clinical. But for me we haven’t created enough. Against Liverpool we saw a huge improvement in this department. Ampadu not only broke up play but was also great at getting us going forward. He makes the game look simple. He also frees Berge up to play more advanced, which is exactly what we need.

Next window/next season:

Ampadu signed perm and if we can bring in a quality LCM we really should. I’m a huge fan of both Fleck and Osborn so don’t get me wrong here. But we need someone who is at least on a par with Fleck to improve this team going forward.

Lunny will most likely leave so I’m leaving him out of this scenario...

DCM: Ampadu/Norwood/Berge

RCM: Berge/Slater/Ampadu

LCM: ???/Fleck/Osborn

I’ve no idea how much Ampadu would cost. But if he’s not in Chelsea’s plans then hopefully he’s attainable.
And I’ve no idea who the LCM player would be... but can you imagine how much stronger that midfield would be!
The great news is that two of those players are here with us now!

Think I’d would have to be an either or scenario given what Chelsea would likely ask were Ampadu to be available can’t see it being under 20-25 million personally. Plus we’re going to have to seriously address the centre half position as there’s no succession plan for Basham in place and Egan doesn’t have adequate cover/a long term successor either. So if Berge nails down RCM this season I’d imagine our midfield signing will be a starting CDM and cover for RCM rather than two starting starting caliber players given budget and other holes to fill.

The more I think about it the more Ampadu becomes the ‘must buy’ player. Given our unique playing style what an asset he would be. He would be my first choice CDM, then he’s great cover for RCB, CB and RCM if circumstances dictate. As he’s on loan it makes sense to pursue the permanent transfer in the summer after we’ve retained PL status.

In Jan you would imagine another LCB would be the priority. The calibre of this player is a worry to me though. We already have a first choice LCB he’s just out injured. So do we spend money on another back up player? Does that mean Robinson becomes back up for the back up?

If funds are limited in Jan than maybe a loan could be utilised for the LCB player that we need. Unless of course Ben Davies is going cheap given his contract running down.

Lunny is leaving and with Fleck out he’s currently our LCM. If Berge was to get injured our midfield would be almost non existent! Yes we could field players like Rodwell to cover gaps but it’s fair from ideal. If there one marquee signing in Jan then for me it has to be someone who can go straight into the starting XI at LCM.

I can see him being another Hendo. A fans favourite, man of the match performances every week, indispensable to the team......Then buggers off back to his parent club.
I actually think he might be available. He's not continental enough for Chelsea, that said, I can see Chelsea going all out for Declan fucking Rice and that will limit this kids chances even further.

Ampadu would be an incredible signing in the summer it gives us a top quality 3 in midfield and allows us to look for a cheaper/development player as cover similar to osbourne.
In relation to LCB how much we invest will depend on our opinion of Norrington-Davies and where we see his best position if we see him and Lowe pushing each other for LWB long term then finding the money to invest in a jake Cooper say who could really compete with O’Connell long term and probably push Egan in the middle too due to his height and aerial prowess would make sense. If we see Norrington-Davies as a LCB long term then yeah look at someone like Ben Davies who would presumably be cheaper and take jack Robinson’s place as utility cover for both positions on the left long term.

Another reason to stay up then.

I think we have ample cover for LWB without even considering RND at the minute.
Jake Cooper is an interesting one. Plenty of things to like about him... but can you see him playing the LCB role? Will he offer enough in an attacking sense do you think?

Millwall play in a very similar fashion to us and he plays there for them he’s no slouch but I don’t know about his final ball and like anyone it would take him time to adapt but he would give us some solidity especially in the air.
