Team vs Liverpool

Taking Mr Wilders oft said statement that he wants to "leave" by the front door I would be very surprised if he didn't start with 2 strikers. Just not sure which 2 but our leading scorer this season would be hard to leave out. (Didsy McGoalrich?) Besides they look a better attacking unit with him as a number 10.
for me it has to be Burke to press their unfamiliar back line, and Brewster as he will know this team inside out and will have played against these lads in training, McG can also be handy in a press, just dont feel he is clinical enough

Conversely the defenders will be aware of any tricks / runs Brewster has in his locker so will be better prepared.

I can see the temptation to use Burke's pace as an "out" option, L'pool have a makeshift CB pairing & keeper at the moment. So we need to take advantage of any set pieces. Despite poor games last time out i would retain Norwood for his delivery and McB for an aerial threat.

It's tempting to give Boogle a start but Mane supported by Robertson on the left is a huge threat so George keeps his place for me for this one.

Ampadu at LCB for me as Salah drifts in from right on his left foot and Ampadu being right footed will challenge him more than Enda or Robbo on their weaker side.

I'd play Ben on the left to help Enda combat Alex Arnold plus have the energy to break if/when he get turnovers of possession.

Rammers
Bash Egan Amps
George Sander ON Ben Enda
McB
Burke

Brew dog to replace Burke when he is knackered from chasing around as we will likely have limited possession.

Last time George slipped over early on and it was a lost cause. Keep our shape and keep it tight till half time & who knows?

On reflection,I would rather play Sharp upfront than McBurnie. Liverpool will have an inexperienced centre half partnership and Sharp may be able to draw fouls and it will encourage us to play to feet I would hope. . Sharp is also more likely to score from crosses( I am sure someone will now come up with some stats to prove me wrong in that one). Play one of Burke for Brewster up with him

Doesn’t matter who we put out, surely it’s about keeping the score down and not embarrassing ourselves.

Sod it, why not...free hit.

Burke to stick himself out on left to make Alexander-Arnold think twice. They'll want to pin our wing-backs back like they did at Anfield so we need to give them something to think about.
Despite lack of mobility, I've included Norwood because I can't see the game being stretched (they'll be camped in our half) and we'll need his through balls to hit them on the break.
McGoldrick included to hold the ball up, relieve pressure on defence and maintain possession.
McBurnie not chosen because the temptation to launch it long will be too much for our lot to resist...if we do that, the ball will keep coming back.

I agree McBurnie might be missed for his defence duties but it is up top where we are lacking and after Sunday's missed chances he should be replaced.I see Tyler Swift is knocking them in for Swindon .5 goals already hurry up back mate can not be any worse than our blank firing strikers we are playing at the moment.

It's not even meant to be a dig at McBurnie, who I think has a lot to offer. I just think that with him on the pitch and us likely being under the cosh, the temptation to kick it long will be too much for us to resist. If we do that, the ball will keep coming back. I'd much rather we played it into Didzy's feet to hold up and allow us to push up, or utilise Burke's pace like we've done with the Moose in the past. It might be that we use Brewster from the bench once Burke has run himself ragged and have another body in midfield - maybe Osborn for his bite and energy as a spoiler, or Lunny for his ability to play from box-to-box

Well I can understand your thinking Swanny but I am more worried about our terrible finishing that is the reason why I think McBurnie should be rested after the Fulham match which we should have had a decent lead at halftime.I know Billy is getting on a bit but he is our only natural finisher without him we are no threat to anyone. So for once we have nothing to loose lets go for it because we are much much better on the front foot than the back foot.Villa did that and produced a shock result ,now I know we are not about to knock seven past them but with a make shift defence that they will be playing it will give us a chance .Their forwards will be their strong point and their makeshift defence will be hoping they will have an easy shift.I don't think inviting them on to us is going to work with their top strikers who only have to have a sniff to score so lets give them something to think about instead of inviting them on to us unfortunately McBurnie just now carries no threat.
