Easy

------------------Ramsdale----------------

Baldock-----Basham-------Egan-----Lowe

------------------Norwood-------------------

------Berge--------------------Osborn-----

-----------------Brooks---------------------

--------Burke-------------Brewster--------

That front setup would create what we wanted. Attacking play.

pommpey

Ampadu in for Norwood and then we could slip back in to a back 5 easily if needed and would help to prevent from getting overrun in midfield.
Nothing personal against Norwood as i have loved watching him play for us but if by any chance we could fit Brooks in to the team then I think it would require Ampadu playing as the DM.

Also ideally we get Fleck back firing and he comes in to play on the left of Berge but at the minute i agree Osborn is the better option.
I do think having quick exciting players like Brooks & Brewster ahead of him would eventually help bring Flecky back to his best though.

Even if there’s nothing in this I really enjoyed watching his best bits with us again. Fuck knows where we’d play him but he’s the type of player that makes football enjoyable

How good is brooks grinds my gears when some fans don’t see how good he is

Even if we don’t sign him hope he gets fit cause he should be playing at a top premier league club

If Man Utd, Spurs, Leicester et al wanted him he would have gone already. 30 to 40m is nothing to them. We may be the only team to have enquired, they may need him off wage bill and the clock is ticking.

Although I'm 99% sure it's fiction, the deal outlined does look like it could work for all parties. Loan fee may be doable for us, it keeps the player happy and it gives Bournemouth some cash now, a lower wage bill and a revenue stream next summer. If the 'buy' part of the deal is contingent on us staying up, then his value is going to be higher next summer after a season in the PL.

It's just daydreaming though. I really can't see this happening unless we can't get a suitable LCB in but still have one card up or sleeve for a loan.

There is a bigger picture.
On leaving, Brooks maintained he was keen to play under “Steady Eddie” Howe. Eddie gone.
More importantly (than being one of the most exciting players since TC) is Brooks himself. It’s clear Tufty is planning a B team, which is where Brooks fits in.

Thinking about it. Why would Bournemouth loan him out for a fee? He’s probably not on a particularly high wage. I imagine they want to go up at the first attempt this year. I reckon he’d probably help.

And then if the answer to that is they wouldn’t loan him. How on earth are we getting near a sky high valuation for him?

I’m back to thinking 0.1% chance this happens. I was at 5%.
To answer questions like this I just consult the words of our departed leader:

"When the Premier League clubs come calling..."

Offer them next to nowt. Usually worked for teams buying from us.

A £5m loan fee (c£147k/week through to the end of May 2021) + 75% of c£35k/week salary (c£26k/week) = c£173k/week sounds awfully rich to me and would dwarf the cost of bringing Henderson back again this season.

I'd be delighted if he did return but I'd be amazed if he did, especially on the terms quoted.

Sure, I think that seems a lot when you break it into the detail and stare at it. But we're probably paying about the same per year to have Berge, or Brewster.

Richer clubs pay vastly more than that per year on each of their players.

We'll only do the alleged deal if it is affordable (and he's available!)... But those terms surely are affordable, even for us.

There's nobody I'd like to see make a return to the lane more than Brooks.... except maybe Henderson...

So approx £6.4mill (all costs included) for one season of Brooks? Just checking I'm on the same page maths-wise...?

I'm not sure Brooks works hard enough out of possession, and would realistically spend 50% of his time on the treatment table. It's a "no" from me.
