The talent of the lad is unquestioned.

But I’m afraid it simply isn’t good enough that as a professional athlete he can’t maintain a base level of fitness and be able to play football for 90mins if needed.

He’s the sort of kid who would just stop when he’s a bit tired rather than push on through the pain barrier to get fitter. It’s in his head. He needs a permanent minder babysitting him, controlling his diet-not just to make sure he’s not eating crap, but also to make sure he’s eating the right things at the right times to be able to train at the level he needs to get fitter!

We simply cannot afford our best striker to only be able to give 30-45 minutes of effort once a week.

Hes got a season to save his career at the Lane. Talent, pace, strength, finishing ability are unquestionable.

All he needs is to last for 70 mins before we bring a sub on. Hes never going to be a chase around kind of forward but we can accept that in return for his other attributes. What we cant accept is his unreliability and that has to end this season.

A.forward pairing of McB and Moose could.be dynamite and CW knows this so he won't give up on him as early as some of our fans have.

Maybe I'm an old fart but where do all these rumours come from people seem to be ITK, yet I just plod on through life oblivious. The main ones are the foreign ones players I've never heard of, I don't mean that bad but don't follow football in Europe.

I agree that his application to his craft isn’t the best but he is our most natural goal scorer, except Billy in his pomp

Everton away, his pace and finish from that angle killed that game off and won it for us, was still possible Everton could have got something from that until he killed the game, no other striker we currently have does that IMO
Agree but does he do it evey week, if a bloke at his age can't manage 90mins there's something sadly wrong

Yes you can imagine Billy being an "impact" player at his age, but Moose by comparison is a chabbie.

Maybe that is all we can afford at the moment? If he added absolutely nothing to the team, then Wilder would get rid. If he adds something to the team, but not enough - then Wilder will be looking for a replacement. But he might have looked and not found anything for the funds he's got. So he's got all his charts and graphs out, and thinks, as it stands right now - Lys is worth 10 points over the season - and that's enough to keep us up and buy a better striker next year. So, maybe that's what we will have to go with this season?
He might be the slowest runner in the 4 x 100 relay team, but the other 3 run quick enough for him to get over the line and take gold!
He's not going to run around for 90 minutes, but when he's on the pitch, even if it's for 30 mins - he has to create and take chances.

The pass from Lundstram played no part in that goal? I completely disagree.

I get that and it’s a fair point, I just find it incomprehensible that the lad can’t look at his team mates running themselves under when he’s barely getting into a jog for most of the short time he’s on the pitch and not think to himself that he needs to do more.
He’s relying on others doing his running for him, but what happens if those others aren’t available and he’s left?
That’s the issue. He needs to be able to put the time in on the pitch. I could stand his lazy style, with the odd sprint if he thinks it is going to be worth it if he could do that for 90mins...but he can’t. At best it’s a 45 mins where he will do half the running of everyone else. And that’s not acceptable.

Love the lad, love him when at full tilt but we need him to be up to that level for 70mins minimum, and then at least on the pitch if needed for the last 20.

Not arguing he does mate, just that his fleeting moments of pure brilliance had a bigger impact on us than all of Billy and McBurnies hard work did, or at very least if you want to disagree it had equal impact

maybe come January if he still is only a sub making 10 min cameo and we can find a similar style player then fair enough but right now he can do a job no one else we currently have can

I totally understand and what annoys me most about him sometimes is that he can't be knackered because he's been on the pitch literally 10 minutes, but if he misses a few chances or the ball runs away from him, he seems to become frustrated and disinterested - not that he's too tired - it's like he's given up trying. He definitely needs to change his attitude, because if he can't up his game, then Wilder will eventually find a replacement and he will be gone .

Let's wait and see how it goes when the season starts, think the pitchforks can be put away temporarily at least

I love Moose, I see a lot of talent in him and a lot of goals if he can make that next step up, and I truly believe he's going to have a fantastic season because as far as I can tell from the outside looking in, everyone in the club seems to love him, so he must be doing something right despite the accusations from fans that perhaps he doesn't have the best attitude

I think he kicks on and bags double digits in the PL this season, I'll put £20 in Billy's foundation if I'm wrong if anyone wants to take me up on that bet with the opposite opinion :)

With regards to Moose, i think BladesPod got it spot on.

It's clearly unacceptable for a Premier League professional footballer on circa £20k basic per week to be unfit. Problem is, we've bought him now and stuck him on a (3 year?) deal so we're stuck for another 2 years.

There is a BUT in all this - even though he spent his first year with us largely unfit, his contribution of 6 goals and 3(?) assists shouldn't be overlooked. If we can get that out of him again this season then i would settle for that, as long as we bring in another striker as well.

I do think though that Moose is more or less in last chance saloon, certainly with us. Any less and i really can't see CWAK accommodating him in a Blades shirt for his 3rd year.

Alright matey - as it happens I also think Lys is going to kick on this season. Think there’s been a concerted effort to push him on within the club and I reckon it’s gonna work... but for the sake of a good cause I’ll take you up on the bet. If he comes up short of double figures I’ll put £20 into Billy’s charity.

Can I trust you to remember - I’ve got a memory like a fucking sieve?

I’d keep him as an impact player ..as we‘d get fk all trying sell him tbh with his fitness issues ....

if we can get another different forward type ..I think we might be just ok up front tbh... if we could get Pukki on loan he would a decent option...and fit into our budget ..rather than spunk £15 mill on a Grant or Similar who are unproven ..

Done deal 😁

I've put a monthly reminder into my calendar, starting from the end of December up to the 23rd May when the last fixtures are scheduled to be played!

Just something to consider before throwing him under the bus.....he is, without doubt, behind the curve in terms of where he should be re fitness. Coaches will be trying to get him up to speed ASAP and to do that he is in the loading phase of his work: more weights/reps etc than others who are further along with fitness. That extra work in the legs will make him look/feel slower than others. As he reaches expected fitness levels they will taper/reduce workload ahead of match play where he will feel like a coiled spring. He won’t be ready for start of season but he def should be ready a few games in.....or like me he just fucking loves his cheese and has no future in the game!
