Can you ask CW when we are going to go back to playing with a no:10?

Until that time we don't need an Eze or Cantwell.

The Prince HAS been very generous in supporting CW up until now - we COULD have afforded Eze - he simply didn't fit into how we play the game now.

I don't really know tbh. I assume palace gives better wages, and we can't break the structure unless we want to do a Bournemouth.
And he would be similar to Fleck, so I don't know if we can have two of those in the team?

The prince still have to deal carefully, can't splash too much, or we will struggle if the worst comes to pass. I feel like Eze would fit as a lcm.
 
A lot of people on here didnt want, doesnt run around enough to fit our ‘mould’. He will be in the mix for england soon. Would of been insane if we signed him.

I think we will look to transition back towards the 10 role as we establish ourselves and push on in the league

it doesnt, but i think in most instances the mentality is a bit old fashioned. We should be looking more towards these creative types to progress. I thinkwe have bought players this window whoall possess a bit of magic. So all steps in the right direction.

We’ll still be some way off the sort of wages teams like palace are paying. Id imagine their wage bill is double or even treble. The transfer fee is just half the battle when competing with other premier league clubs for the same player.

Yes he'll be in England mix he's played 3 games in PL fucking stupid like that lad at Brighton, 3 games and an England player fucking stupid.

Are you saying you think the mentality that players should work hard is old fashioned? I’d say it’s the opposite. When I started watching plenty of teams had a fat bastard who didn’t run about much but could spray passes around and unlock defences. Jan Molby was the archetype. He wouldn’t get a look in at Liverpool these days.

Personally, I’m very much in favour of investing in good young prospects but we can’t sign all of them. So there’s always going to be one or two that we can say ‘we should’ve signed him’.

its more overlooking technical ability in favour of someone who puts a shift in. The top teams have more technically gifted players than the bottom teams. We need to ensure we have a good balance.

True but if a player has technical ability but doesn’t work hard, it’s right that we ignore him because we aren’t good enough to carry passengers.

Yes, agreed. I would also have thought himself and his agent would have had Freeman on their mind early days when we were apparently showing a bit of interest.

I hope freeman doesn't hold too much against us for him not playing - it's just CW knowing we needed to change to have a chance in the first season. He now has a different challenge.

i think we have enough in our squad to bring 1 or 2 in to help create more opportunities, even as a plan B. Agree though - balance is needed. Can’t afford to carry anyone.
 
Always seemed a bit of a Lee Trundle type to me. Great highlights, very little effect on the outcome.
 
I was a bit disappointed we didn't make a punt for him last season when his value was much lower (unless we asked and were rebuffed) - although I'll admit I've not seen him play that often. This year, as others on the thread have said we could have gone for him if Wilder had wanted to, but he clearly decided our money was better spent elsewhere and I've no problem with that.

we used to play 2 stikers and a 10 which is more what i was getting at. The duffy role. Didzy comes deep to link play but we used to have a dedicated 10 and 2 strikers. More bodies up the pitch.

I mean. Phillips was in the England squad after playing 0 premier League games.

Our plan B is that we have the diamond formation intruduced this season - it's what CWAK have changed us to - except for me the diamond isn't working with the personnel we've got. The diamond means Osborn and lunny in the middle with Berge at the base meaning we've got absolutely fuck all creativity in central midfield. All we've got now is static, not looking forward options.

What we need to do is get back to how we play in this division which is a front foot 352.
