The red card that wasn’t mentioned? :)

But the one the same referee gave from 40 yards away? Uncomfortable in a "big bad referees, blades are conspiracy theorists" post though.

Edit: half the thread wasnt built on the red card.

Just seen the highlights of the Spurs game this weekend
This was given as a foul that for a Newcastle free kick which lead to the equalizing 1-1 penalty (which itself was a dubious decision)
Zero shots on target for Newcastle all game until then and they pick up a point (which isn't a great outcome for us)
Shocking refereeing all around

Lol...I haven't seen that yet. The side-on view is even more hilarious...he literally launches himself at the Spurs player! 😂

Who have?

Was it that long? Imagine they checked Burke offside and then had a few looks to see whether Targett should have seen red. As you say, no debate over the penalty itself.

The VAR literally said it was checking the penalty.

Leeds goal came from dispossessing Berge, which they did kicking him 3 times
how did the ref miss that
he saw every touch on leeds players throughout giving fouls for barely any contact

the assault on Berge was far worse than Egans red card
we ve had very poor treatment so far

How dare you suggest that Bielsa's Leeds would commit a foul. Disgraceful.

Has anyone found that there enjoyment of football has almost completely gone or at least diminished since VAR? I used to watch almost all the EPL games every week (including those not televised in the UK) and can barely bring myself to watch United now. VAR is an absolute joke. Take our game vs Leeds: there were multiple penalty appeals for United from shirt tugging and holding from corners, including one for Robinson who has a free header at goal five yards out with the defender behind him. A penalty and a red card if it was given - he couldn't possibly have been deemed as challenging for the ball. No pen, not even a VAR review. The ball is whacked at Bash from a couple of yards away and they stop the game for a minute and review whether it was handball. Leeds score - a pretty significant event? - despite there being three significant fouls on Berge that I can see on my TV screen, and they don't even review the goal.Shocking.

This ref in particularly is an absolute joke

Completely agree. That it's now combined with empty stadia and it's pretty much a dead duck for me. When the goal alert flashed up with an 88 min winner for Leeds I was a bit gutted for 10 seconds then went on with my day. This the 1st Yorkshire Derby for 20 years in the top flight. They've sucked the emotion out of it and it's shit.

The lay-off from Sharp puts Berge under pressure and Berge's first touch is a poor one. Could've been given a foul but it's a bit soft. No point moaning about decisions going against us when we aren't doing our job right now.

Berge's "foul" on 2:22 in the highlights was when Leeds Utd got possession then scored. If Berge had not been hacked at 2/3 times Leeds wouldnt have got the ball. I didnt notice it when watching it but its blatant foul right in front of the ref. That goal should not have stood. Also in the highlights just before that Robinson's miss Ayling has got Billy in a Wrestler move pinning his arms back which should have been a penalty if the ref had spotted it.
I thought McBurnie was fouled too, stopping him from getting to the header. And in the first half Ampadu was impeded when he tried to get on the end of one.

I thought this too although I must be honest, I missed it at the time. The defender seemed to back into him. If Leeds defend like this at corners they are going to give away a lot of penalties. Especially against the shit housing teams who like to throw themselves to the floor screaming, making sure that they give the referee a decision to make.

I agree no var and don,t bother with the premier leagues demand look at the moniter.Bad referee decitions again, one of the Leeds players clearly had a go twice at Berger.kick him on his ankle the back of his leg.clearly seen.Berger has class dose not fall over at the slitest touch.too honest just fall over at the slightest touch.gets you a foul.

Exactly how I feel. First Yorkshire derby in the Prem for 20 years and I went to the tip and then out for a walk. Previously I have jepardised relationships with my Blades and football obsession. VAR / crap officials, the media obsession with the big 6, no crowds and the financial imbalance have sucked the life out of me. I hate what I am watching and have got to a point that I never thought I would see where I just am not bothered anymore. I waited until the match was definitely over, turned my phone on, saw the result, shrugged my shoulders and went to bash some balls at the driving range.

I will always have a love for the Blades, but I hate what football is turning into.

I don’t know how you can come to the conclusion that it wasn’t a red card? It’s a tap in if he doesn’t chop him
It's not a red card if a pen is given and the foul is an attempt to play the ball, which I think it was.

Each to their own, I think he’s nowhere near the ball.
The rule is a load of bollocks anyway

Its true a Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal or Bournemouth player would have gone down quickly screaming in agony and got a free kick. Therefore no goal would follow.

I've supported the Blades since the beginning of time, but have to say I think the game has turned septic. I do not say this due to our present plight, I refer to the abomination called VAR, the play acting, the cheating, the general " win at all cost" attitude that has pervaded the game, especially in the PL.
The powers that be have sanitized the rules, trying to allow for every conceivable action within the game, resulting in "the camel that is the horse designed by committee". The game is heading downhill, the fans enjoyment is being curtailed, common sense seems not to be required by the ref. anymore. I fear for the future of
our beloved game.

Agreed with this 100%. I’ve stopped watching as var, “pundits“ and the love in for the big six just irritate so much that I’d rather not bother. Currently at step 6 local non league fans allowed which is great but worrying when you see unpaid players in the 10th level of english football put in corners that beat the first man more often than not as opposed to the overpaid overhyped EPL players on weekly wages that would keep the local non league clubs going for a season and more. Games gone. ! UTB.
