Player Suggestion Emiliano Buendia

Have we spent too much on back up? We all thought the fee Villa paid for Cash was ridiculous and quite rightly we pulled out. However he was on the pitch last night and our ex Derby boys weren't.

Of course we need to strengthen the squad but our first team last night was no better than last season. Villa's was with Watkins, Cash and Martinez all playing. The same is true of a number of teams who finished below us last season.
We spent 0.5 Matty Cash’s on 2 back up full backs of the correct age and player we want. Good deal in my eyes

It wouldn’t be putting the future of the club at risk buying an asset that if we got relegated we could sell on and not lose out on,a risk free transfer.
Bournemouth have done well selling the assets

I'll stick my neck out and say both Lowe and Bogle will be first choice come the end of the season.

Cash has gone straight into Villa's side as they did not have a decent right back. We do. Likewise Martinez and Watkins in their respective positions (we do need a good forward, granted!)

Let's not forget, we finished 9th and Villa, 17th, so the transfer policies of each club shouldn't be treated the same.

Why on earth do we need another LWB?

Just because players haven’t broken into the first team yet it doesn’t mean they were brought in as back-up.

But they are back up at the minute...and not even on the bench....we need a striker and some creativity but spent 10m of our budget on ones for the future

Why is the Buendia thread constantly at the top of the rumours page? I get we would all be spunking uncontrollably if he signed but unless i have missed him I don't think we have ever been linked.....in fact apart from Leeds being given a £20m price tag back in August there's been hardly any talk of a move for the lad.

100%

We are scrambling for funds to bring in a player in a position where wilder has publicly said he wants another player. A striker

Hopeful to the point of delusion to think there would be another 20m + knocking about for him.

Well Cash has been at Villa a bit longer than Bogle and Lowe have been here, and they got lucky with no game until this week because of Man U, he's just had more time with the team.

He also was bought to fill a gap. Bogle and Lowe have been bought to fight for positions filled by two of our best.

They'll get there.

As for Buendia, could we not loan him from Norwich so they can have him back if they go up? Similar to Mooy to Brighton from Udders?

Though I suppose Norwich aren't as hard up as Huddersfield were

I've been wondering why we don't approach them for this sort of deal. Would seem to work for all parties.

Loan this season with an agreed price next summer unless Norwich get back up and want him back.

But it’s like borrowing money on your credit card to pay off a credit card. We built Hendo up to become a threat for manures no.1 then we’re left with nothing but an empty net. Same with Norwich they would have a PL ready player and we would be scrounging around int scraps again.

But chances are we would still be a Premier league team no covid and another 130 million in the bank and if it goes well he might not want to go back, no brainer really

A loan of either of the Cantwell or Buendia would make sense for, but again with view to a perm in the summer.
Norwich get a couple of million upfront and lose expensive big earners from their wage bill, both of which are important given no fans are being allowed into grounds.
We get to keep within our budget, secure a quality player who will improve our first team, and we can convert the deal to a perm in the summer for a pre-agreed fee.

Because its a player suggestion thread. Many Blades (including myself) view him as player that would help so many on the ball issues ATM while also fitting in with the hardworking ethos around the squad. But as you say finance will always be the buzzkill. 👍

All this fuckin frustration over Brewster etc buy this kid and he will get our current strikers scoring goals, the supply of chances he made in a dire Norwich side was incredible.

You may well be right BW but at £20m I can't see him being signed any time soon, especially as he's not even been linked at any stage :)

Honestly, I can’t get excited about a forward when our supply line is so poor. This fella is more of a solution

In all seriousness, I do think he would be a great fit for us. If we had to choose between a forward or Buendia this pre season, I would choose Buendia.

We lack a bit of midfield creativity at times and can be a bit predictable working the ball down the wings when we are struggling. Many a time the forwards have been living off scraps and I would back the existing lads up front to do the business next season, provided we gave them better service.

Id go for Buendia now and see what was available forward wise, in January or next summer.

Still if CW wants a forward then that's what we need. He knows a damned site more about football than I ever will.
Where does he fit for us do you think.

Are we back to a Duffy style to fit him in?

The 20m is important the not linked isnt...no link to Moose before he came and he was a record signing, no link to the Derby boys and we signed 2 of em and Berg was a shock too altho he had been linked but not heavily.

A left field signing is likely but probably down to our lack of resource.

I take your point FB but Mousse had been linked for 2 years before he signed.

Both Buendia and Cantwell not in the squad today for Norwich
