Not a contest. I'd beat Supermouth now

Malcolm Macdonald is still shooting on sight: 'Players today don't see chances - they're trained to pass.' | Daily Mail Online'Players today don't see chances - they're trained to pass.' | Daily Mail Online
During the 1970-71 season MacDonald boasted in the papers that he scored a lot that season because centre backs in the 2nd division were easy to play against. When we played the home game against Luton in February, Colquhoun matched MacDonald for pace and had him in his pocket throughout the game. At the final whistle Colquhoun sarcastically slow handclapped at MacDonald

It will be good to see him in a game where we have more of a foothold.

Liked a flick a bit too much at times. But im pleasantly suprised with how he played. Thought he had a good game.

He did some very good aggressive closing down from the front, I think he will grow into the role & become better than most of us thought.

cause everything else this season has worked so well

Not disagreeing, we may as well experiment, but neither are the natural goal scorers that we desperately need.

Was impressed with him today, he's flipping fast as well. Looks to have good ball control even at pace and decent vision for a pass. He could be a really good addition with the right partner.

Did well again today and will only improve the more he plays with our other forwards. Couple of times he could have picked a different option but certainly a threat for us.

Feel like a goal would do wonders for his confidence also and could take him to another level.

Burke played out of his skin yesterday, never gave up. He deserves a starting place for the next game.
too right how he got subbed and not mcburnie is a mystery yet another one of chris's strange decisions of late got to be in next week i would put him up front with brewster lets have 2 pacey strikers up top for a change

I’d rather go with Mousse and Brewster up front and Burke in behind. Burke isn’t a striker, he doesn’t look like a striker at all in how he plays (and I say this as the thread started so I definitely rate him). What he does have is pace, skill and a good eye for a pass. I reckon playing just behind the two I mentioned he’d set up plenty of chances for them. I think he’d be an improvement on McGoldrick as the link between the midfielders and forwards.

Who knows; with Mousse and Burke on the pitch we might actually catch some teams out on the break! 😳

Burke has the speed to scare defenders along with a Rolls Royce engine like Baldock's, it just keeps going.
He is built like a tank only attempt to tackle him from the side, try from the front he will just steam roller you into the turf.

As I have said previously use Burke as a provider for the strikers, he's unstoppable at times but not a striker.

Why this bloke hasn’t had more game time is ludicrous considering the inadequacies of the rest of our attacking players.

Let’s just fucking go all out for it from now on, our best form of defence is to attack as proven in the second half, if we lose this way then so be it, let’s get back to that don’t give a fuck attitude that got us into the Prem in the first place and saw us rise to a European slot.

Yep, I agree. I’ve also said it before. He doesn’t have a striker’s finishing or positioning, but he can find space deeper, run past people and pick out and play a lovely pass. His first instinct always looks to be to set someone else up. Let’s use this behind a front two.

If Robinson is a traditional left back and Lowe is a traditional left back. Why are we still trying to play with 3 centre backs. Surely 4-4-2 is the natural choice now. We have an obvious choice in Burke as one of our wingers. We are creating absolutely nothing down the left. I would really like to see this formation.
Ramsdale
Bogle. Bash. Egan. Robbo/Enda

Baldock. Berge. Ampadu. Burke

Mousset Brewster

433 would suit us and Burke better imo.

Ramsdale

Baldock Bash Egan Stevens

Berge Ampadu Fleck/Osborn

Burke McGoldrick Brewster

No need to change our style too much. Ampadu can cover either full back when they push on, McGoldrick can drop and link up midfield and forwards, but still leaves us with two forwards pushed up. Burke naturally likes to run into the channels, so can carry on doing this, but he should have McGoldrick and Brewster as support rather than just one other forward.
