True, but Brewster has at least proved he can do it at Championship level. 1 goal every 2 games is a solid record and a sign of some natural goalscoring ability. There really wasn’t much to go off with DDG. And as for Lunny, he did get 5 goals from midfield in a low-scoring PL side last season & barely started after Berge was signed. I know he’s naff at the minute but he almost outperformed our 20m striker in terms of goals scored. On his day he’s a solid box to box mid.

Always going to be a gamble for us to pay that kind of money but this one has the most potential upside & profit when compared to someone like Adam Armstrong & Karlan Grant who would also surely be in the £14-20m range.
If "that kind of money" is a bit of a gamble, it seems that playing in the PL last season was really just a waste of time!

I'm confused by this, sorry. What do you mean? Salary has nothing to do with transfer fee.

Also, there was apparently leaked info last year that said Brewster earns £10k per week.
A lot of players on a wedge have their price set much lower as they can’t get them off the wage bill, also the whole package is wages plus fee-if a club knows the players not asking much they’re in a better bargaining position to ask for more

Why have we not got a striker then they have had all summer to get one and still do not have one even though it was blatantly obvious we lacked any real quality upfront.

Barely had all summer tbf baring in mind the turnaround between seasons.

I don't get what some people expect, are you aware you're supporting Sheff Utd??

The Prince has never come out and said he's loaded and promised x,y or z. We don't have that much money, it is what it is.

My personal take is that we have spent the agreed budget for the window or close to it. But Wilder pushing for more especially given that most clubs have been far more active than many would have thought.

It's also my view that if we don't sign Brewster it'll be as we genuinely dont have the money required to do it and not cos the owner is tight etc...

So how much was the PL prize money from last season?

The "learning" is that Sheffield (United) never have been (& likely never will be ) a 'big hitting' football club that attracts the levels of investment / football talent that you yearn for
In PL terms we are, like it or not, (close to) bottom of the 'financial clout' league
Now about that (unseen) motor I've sourced for you - remember it's blue 😉

Yep because we have always had dinosaurs involved with our club that are short sighted.

🤦🏻‍♂️ yes. All PL/TV money is for transfer fee's only.

What evidence is there to support the theory that the Prince is sat making a fortune(or any money) on Sheff Utd right now????

Hasn't Nixon got any ground breaking news on this transfer in tomorrow's Sun ?
Something along the lines of Blades still interested along with Brighton, Villa, and Palace with Swansea waiting in the wings.

Depends if player selling club and buying club can agree on everything

But the PL money would have been streets ahead of what we've ever had in the kitty before and the outgoings are far less than the supposed income (£130m?)
So, unless all the seating has been gold-plated, I'd have to ask something I never thought I would -
"Weerz munneh gone?"

On top of the transfer fees we know there is 40 odd million of wages went out-the players cost a fair bit when they’re here not just to get in!then there’s all the behind scenes work we had to do to be premier ready at the Lane you can’t just translate £130m of income into transfer fees alone as there’s other costs to cover

That's true, do you think Captain Blade works for free?
