So...... when he's out drinking cocktails out of plant pots............Bert has two shotguns and a big box full of ammunition.
So that's your Fang, gave you a like in case I ever meet him. Let him know it was me please.
Monday 8th Sept 1947. Back row; Young, Machent, Smith, Latham, Cox, Forbes. Front row; Thompson, Brook, Rickett, Hagan, Collindridge.
42 bus in picture as well. Memories fading a bit but think 42/53 was the bus I used to get after the match early 80s back up Chesterfield rd then walk down Woodseats rd.
Our 2nd goal scored by Billy Beer
Affirmative, like the Lone Ranger SB, riding in with honesty and truth. Our 2nd goal scored by Billy Beer
Missed seeing at least five of this team as this was my first season at the Lane but unfortunately only reserves and probably only a handful of games. I say unfortunately because I would have loved to have see Alex Forbes and also Eddie Shinwell, what a strong left side, two excellent players who went on to better things. International status and FAC winners and losers medals, although Forbes won five caps whilst at the Lane.Monday 8th Sept 1947. Back row; Young, Machent, Smith, Latham, Cox, Forbes. Danger Mouse was on our coaching staff???
Well, he was a secret agent. For some reason it’s a secret.
SB, you may know already but I've discovered that 'Beers' in reference to W(Billy)J Beer was a kind of nick name that even infiltrated the higher echelons of the FA. They seemed just as inadequate then as, I believe, they are now. Reference the 1899 FA Cup Final programme.Affirmative, like the Lone Ranger SB, riding in with honesty and truth.
Beer or Beers? I've seen both but am not sure which it is. Should have listened to mi grandad properly.
Should it be referenced CWAKDM from now on?Well, he was a secret agent.
At least. The Russians are probably involved too.Should it be referenced CWAKDM from now on?
That's their want, or at least their leaders want, morose lot. Sure our new postman is one. Post arriving after 1330 for years, now it's bloody 1030, no later, thrown us all out of kilter. At least. The Russians are probably involved too.

Kops Ale and Stout advert on the left is interesting, never knew non alcoholic beer existed back then, sasperella excepted. There's a joke somewhere XM with the Derby black knickers and the forward called BloomerSB, you may know already but I've discovered that 'Beers' in reference to W(Billy)J Beer was a kind of nick name that even infiltrated the higher echelons of the FA. Note the advert. top right Ellimen's Embrocation or rub as I knew it. A well known commodity in footballing circles, I'm sure, to the senior members on here. The smell, close your eyes, imagine your 21 again, in the dressing room pulling on your boots, bet you remember it now.View attachment 92707
Two photos taken on Glossop Road, July 1984.
The first back towards West St. Second one, up Victoria Street.

I thought Darlow's was further on the right along West St towards town, Bornablade. Past the top of Fitzwilliam Street going into town. Where the bus stops were?????? But, then again..Top picture - Barclays Bank on the immediate right. Just next door / behind was a sports shop. Was that Darlows?
