Norwich nearly went bankrupt from overspending the last time they were in the prem.and had to use last seasons money to pay the debtsThat's what Norwich thought.
That's what Norwich thought.
So going down is OK then is that not a resignation of oh well we will see what happens. This current strike force isn't good enoughI don't think it's a lack of ambition. Wilder has said, he won't spend money that the club doesn't have. He wants to protect the future of the club and build slowly. This is entirely sensible. Particularly during a pandemic.
we have already agreed a fee it’s just the structure of the payment, initial payment and buyback etc that is taking the time in agreeing.
For 25 id expect a McBurnie, maupay or bowen level signing. Brewster is unproven even to that level. At least with the above you have proven top end championship players. Brewster is more like Robinson and that only made sense because the fee was relatively low and we could recoup aolt of it if unsuccessful.I’d tend to agree but unfortunately that’s the market these days.
As much as I like him and think he’ll be great, I’m not sure we were a Sander Berge away from Europe. I’d of probably rather seen this money spent on a quality striker and then invested in a Swift type as Lundstrums back up.We were a quality striker away from being in European competition last season....CW has said it was a priority to get someone in up top, (and I don't accept Burke is anything more than a cheap gamble).....do we really want to be sat here next season saying we were a quality striker away from staying up?
Calculated gambles....

We probably did need a striker more than Berge but when you get the opportunity to sign Berge and don't think he'll be available again you can't pass it up imo.As much as I like him and think he’ll be great, I’m not sure we were a Sander Berge away from Europe. It was because again he would tick the boxes of proven at that level also a good chunk of the fee redeemable if it didn't work out. I was surprised we weren't in got him at that fee and with our discount.Makes the £13m Southampton paid for Che Adams last season look an absolute bargain after the season he'd had with Birmingham. I think he'll come good this season.
Good point. It would have to be alot less at it's base for me. I don't care if it's 30 mill if it's based on goals and survival.Who is to even say the fee is 25m it is only a fee banded around by so called journalists.
The same journalists that were saying Lowe and Bogle cost 15m when in reality it was more or less half of that figure.
Where's the evidence that we aren't skint? It works both ways if we're honest, can see why folk think we're brassic when our chairman said himself the wing backs from derby were signed after a vote.. and two members thought we were already over budget.I like that bit where if there is no evidence then people just make stuff up to suit

True, plus have we not ended up paying much less for Ramsdale thank quoted as we were able to offset it against money owed on Brooks?
He’s also explained previously the budget isn’t a single fixed pot and is broken down into several sub-budgets for different requirements. The two from Derby may well have taken us over a budget for upgrading the wingback positions (as an example, I obviously don’t know how the budget is made up). We’d have to be pretty fucking stupid not to have saved a decent chunk explicitly knowing we had to sign a striker (or two). It seems the bed welters and doom mongers are jumping to conclusions without knowing what’s happening at all, the reality is they have as much knowledge as I do as to the inner workings of the club yet talk with an authority that suggests they know far better.Where's the evidence that we aren't skint? Aye, I think I'd have preferred to have seen us make moves for the most needed positions before we looked at other spots.. goalkeeper and striker(s) being those most needed. He’s also explained previously the budget isn’t a single fixed pot and is broken down into several sub-budgets for different requirements. Bradford, Barnsley, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Coventry, Ipswich, Derby, Forest etcMaybe a striker away from staying up is a risk worth taking Versus money we don’t have. If it goes tits up we go down with a strong squad and parachute payments, hopefully romp the championship and come back up stronger al la Norwich, West Ham and West Brom. Only problem is it can go wrong al la Blackburn, Bolton, Huddersfield et al.
Says who? Bettis or Terry on Facebook?Tells You we are skint we get offered him but no we want a loan we will miss out due to no ambition. Frustrating

Like your thinkingIs it possible he has signed and all been kept quiet until tomorrow. Didn't wilder say in an interview he was expecting someone in by Monday. No photos of training sessions which are usually on twitter, none of the players posting anything either. Just a thought
