Not an in depth one really.
Everyone is having their say on our new striker and the opinions are all over the shop.
I just thought I would get a general feel for the striker the fans want the most.

All seem relatively realistic, so please disregard fees, wages and availability.
Just go with who you think would be the best fit for us, on loan or permanently.

I voted Watkins even though he is probably the most unrealistic on the list. I think Brewster is probably the best and most realistic on there.

Dennis will probably reperesent the most value. I guess time will tell.

Brewster the best? That's interesting. I do agree he's the most likely though.

I think disregarding the cost, I reckon Watkins will top this.
We seemed more in the running for him last preseason though than we are this one which is odd.

I meant more in terms of a combination of best and realistic. For me i think Watkins is the best player but I think in terms of the best option for us we might have to look elsewhere i.e Brewster.

Brentford and Bournemouth both seem to have reputations for holding out for the absolute maximum in the fees they can get for their players. Whoever goes for Watkins will have to put a fair wedge down. It’s also why I would steer clear of King and Wilson as Bournemouth would make us pay more than they are worth. I understand that we may have to be prepared to pay over the odds in certain situations but it has to be for the right player.

This isn't a knock because I voted for him but its strange that one of the few on there that has no Premiership experience is walking away with this.
Maybe because people get excited by the unknown, or maybe people are leaning towards him because Villa aren't in for him yet.

Of that list the top PL striker is Pukki, he has scored more then Deeney or Wilson despite being Norwiched

Should've said it then, pal. Cast my vote on Callum Wilson, but that's never goin to happen. It'll be Pukki then, being realistic and still wanting the best we might have with some cash in Prince's pocket.

E: Watkins, King, Wilson. Realistic targets??

He's a class act.
He did only score 1 more than Deeney to be fair though.
Two drawbacks, he's most suited to replace Sharp but even Pukki is 30, and if Wilder wants pace and power, a few more on that list tick those boxes.

Went with Watkins since he's the best of those I've seen play. Never seen Nunez or Dennis play. Think we'll end up with Burke and Brewster though.

I'd say Wilson is the most unrealistic, fee and wages. Not a chance we can afford him. Voted for him to answer the question though, I'd love him here.

Of those we seem to actually be linked with, I'd love Dennis but think he'll end up at a fairly bigger club. I'd like to buy Brewster and see how he develops.

You need all bases covering, Sharp is 34 and is being groomed to be a coach/future manager. Pukki is just about right for me to partner McBurnie/Moose/Didzy

At the price bracket of Watkins, Wilson, etc I'd be seriously looking at Aleksander Isak from Real Sociedad. I suspect in reality it'll be Brewster and Burke though.

Dennis because i've seen him a few times and think he offers something our other forwards don't, very nimble/agile player.

Isak no chance, Brewster good chance, Burke utility player

Power and pace are what everyone wants, but our "organised chaos" approach can really benefit an intelligent player. Pukki, Deeney fit that mould. The rocket ships might be able to get to the chances but the issue is to have the composure to find the space to take them when they are delivered.

11 goals for the rock bottom, not-a*sed-at-all a team to play for is good enough for a striker, methinks. Deeney is 32, and played for a team who did at least try to survive the relegation. I really don't think Pukki would be a substitute to Billy, though, as Pukki is about clever, fast runs down to channels to score. So not an awesome poacher like Sharp. Me too, I want more pace and power, younger age etc. Yet the question is, who will be the man? I see Pukki as a very good alternative in the short run. But I bet Norwich has put such a high price tag on him that we shouldn't really even be discussing about his possible transfer to the BDTBL here. Not gonna happen.

I think Josh King would add the most to our side, but suspect he's beyond our reach. Callum Wilson would be second, but the same applies.

Realistically I think we could probably attain Brewster, Pukki, Burke & Meite and of those 4 I would want Brewster. On a permanent preferably. The others I either don't think are good enough, or wouldn't work in our system.

Damn!! I forgot him and I was only talking about him today.
Would he be your vote though? Above all the rest?
He would have been in my top 3 but having read what the Huddersfield fans think of him, I'm not so sure anymore.

Yes. He’d be my choice because he is young, british, has scored in the PL for the worst side at the time, and has scored a lot for a poor side last year. He appears to be able to play as a lone striker, as part of a pair and as part of a front 3. He seems to have a range of finishes in his bag and scores penalties. He also appears to create chances by himself.

He is the type of player who would have a decent resale value and judging by him sticking with Huddersfield, he’d stay with us if we went down. He would also be coming to Sheffield from Huddersfield, so would have no issues regarding settling in.

He might not be the best amongst the group in any single category, but across the categories, I reckon he ticks all the boxes.

Unfortunately it appears that Huddersfield who previously wanted £16m for him, are now wanting closer to £20m.
