Good stuff. Funds are desperately needed, we can't allow the squad to continue shedding talent.

Good low key approach to this it appears. Sensible management it seems.

Let's trust that TB will not be going onto Radio Chuff and blurt out false promises of major funds coming in in contrast to some lardy arsed porker from S6 who we all know has done so in the past.

It's interesting that it seems to have gone beyond the 'sponsorship' deal he was talking about a couple of weeks ago.

what a load of bollox ...................
If its close nowt wud be said !

Au contraire.

If it's close, they would be confident enough to say something.

If it's miles away, then such preparation of expectation would be pointless.

Don't you have any faith in your Messiah Mr Birch, BB?

On o/s.

Hopefully a deal will happen within the next 6 weeks.

Malaysian coming onto the board.

No rash spending.

Any monies raised will go directly into the first team rather than paying monies owed to KM

Shock horror nothing new actually reported . :)

Nah it's the same 'sponsorship' deal muted a couple of months ago. But it does go further than a traditional sponsorship deal but that is the basis of this "investment".

They were always aiming for it to be inplace around Christmas but this is just the same info previously released. Due to the way it is structured there is the opportunity for other "sponsorship partners" to be brought in.

I think McCabe mentioned something about a share issue at the fans forum where he would re-invest his own money to maintain a stake while encouraging others to share the load.
This is the same plan coming to fruition.

What a strange statement.
When are the latest accounts due out?

Lets hope we are not Wednesday in disguise talking bollox
They haven't announced anything, it's just a re-run of old information. If it was across the city it would of been widely reported months ago when it was all being setup.

I don't see anything wrong with the statement.

Its an update and the update is that nothing has changed...

Of course the OS being the OS just expands this and gets further quotes from Birch, but the fans keep asking for an update and they give one.

Just because there is nothing new to report doesn't mean that Birch or the club should be damned to a life in Hell. It just means that they've done what we want...

Maybe nothing will come of the talks, but sounds like the talks are currently going ahead on our terms so i'm slightly reassured

Aren't the recent statements from Birch simply answers to questions in the Radio Sheffield interview?

And will all those fans asking for an update be satisfied with the update? No news story on a no news day! Is this just a titbit for those demanding action on the transfer/loan front? Jam tomorrow...lets hope so

Possibly, but then our fans will complain if they get information and complain if they don't.

I like the way the club go about this, choosing to "attempt" to share information with the fans, whilst at the same time, playing down the significance.

Ooh Ooh a new dawn, this is it, the great leap forwards, this is why Blackwell was sacked, this is why we got our Gary Speed in charge, this is it, this is it.

Or maybe more of the same. Its a good time to invest in a football club and "invest" in the first team. When the transfer window is shut. The swelling on our trapped fingers as the last one shut on us without any money spent has been forgotten by the sounds of it and we can look forward to January. When, at a guess nothing will happen.

Thats if this guy isn't just some cross dressing attention seeking wierdo of course who just wants to look good for a while. I know, its unlikely we could get 2 of those in a lifetime.

You believe no money was spend on new players during the last transfer window?

In five years ti-iii-iime....

Do you want to have a bet Raul? I bet this is in place and a new face is on our board by the time Santa comes a knocking.

I bet you a couple of pints of mulled wine, what do you say? :)

I must admit, all the recent signs point towards new investment.....and I'm not the sort to get carried away with these stories having heard it all before.

No transfer fees spent in the summer, sensible spending on players and then the manager gets sacked two games in.....shortly after this guy's interest became more public. In this case I think the smoke is definately caused by a fire.

I think considerable transfer funds were spending in securing the likes of Britton, Simmo and Nosworthy.

Agreed. However many of the people who ring the Radio Sheffield phone-ins, the likes of brian the blade, don't understand this. They just look at transfer fees.

I think you mean a chunk of the wage bill has gone on them, not transfer funds.

Raul's bottled Bob's offer and given it legs :(

I imagine there would be a signing on fee, amongst a number of others fees. Particularly for Britton and Simmon.

But then again, I'm no expert on contracts in football.

Is that not money len?

Er yes, it's a commitment to pay money over a year in Nozza's case and was it two or three years for the other two.
There may have been payments to agents etc but I'd hazard a guess those payments are also made over the course of typical playing contracts.
We didn't buy any players but then I don't think anyone expected us to.
As for the investment gubbins on the website, a very odd thing to do.

What is it exactly that will be in place? How, for example, do we quantify the word "substantial"?

Ok, if it's more than ten bob and another one from either the family or an expert from Scarborough it's Mulled Wine o clock on Xmas day in one of our respective households:thumbup:

thousands of small investors in the Blades got stuffed just my humble opinion of course........... what mug wud invest a substantial amount in the Blades without overall contol i ask ?
