In a half-hearted attempt to get this back on topic I would be happy with Meite as the hardworking athletic option off the bench. Which I and other posters have mentioned multiple times over this summer. Meite and another versatile centre forward would really help add more strings to our bow and add some quality depth.
I suppose if you apply some logic, Robinson & Meite are upgrades on Clarke & Zivkovic

We are really scraping the barrel if this is the best we can do. He isn't even in Readings best 3 players. I would have had Ojaria and Swift long before this kid. We must be getting desperate. I'd rather Chris told us there is no one out there that's decent value and we're going with Robinson and Hackford til January

I can't believe some people are seriously questioning HRH's credentials. Yes i was sceptical at the thought of him winning the court case but he's done nothing but good for the club ever since he won the hearing. And probably before that too.

He was the one that pushed McCabe to spend (equally) more money so we could bring in McBurnie. He was the one that once he took sole ownership of the club, he put it back together again as one asset. He was the one who gave the go ahead to spend a hefty chuck of money on Berge in January so we wouldn't miss out in the summer. He is the one that is investing in the infrastructure by building a new training centre and upgrading the ground to give the fans a better experience.

You can't say he's not invested in the club or players; he's definitely got our interests at heart. Personally i think he is the best thing that has happened to this club in a long long time other than Wilder of course.

Be grateful for what he has done and what he is doing because we could have gone in a totally different direction if it wasn't for him and his family. I for one am grateful for everything he has done and is doing. And long may he continue.

Why would a Chansiri or similar leave the club in the shit? Chansiri spent money at the other club with a plan to try and make it to the prem, he has since put the club up for sale to try and presumably get some of his money back, but in the mean time he continues to finance the club, so why if we managed to attract a billionaire owner, would it be a bad thing? How long have Chelsea, Man City, etc been in the prem and they seem to be doing ok?

No he'll have to pay the mortgage back out of the proceeds like any other transaction of that type.

My god there's some serious bedwetters on this thread!
I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but from how I have read it, how he has done it means the club own the ground, the club have a mortgage with favourable terms and this will be shown in the accounts correctly
HRH owns the club yes but it is all one assett not split into separate entity's like our near neighbours
Good luck to the guy if he sells us for a good profit (so long as its someone who will move the club forwards) I for one thank kevin for all he did, but I feel we are in our firmest footing financially for year's and we need to keep it that way 😀

TBF...:there’s always some bitter pillocks who will claim a player they are selling is shit.
Brentford still laughing at us apparently for JOC and Egan.

I really like the Prince too. He seems savvy and I like his silent style.

However, the hypothetical question was, could Wilder have achieved what he has with a billionaire owner? Could he have achieved more?

Aside from hire Wilder, I don't think our owners have done anything out of the ordinary to get us here - that's been Wilder & co.

They've stayed out of his way, funded him as much as their pockets allow and not sold the family silver from under him without his agreement for a change at United. Considering their resources I don't think they could do much more. A good owner is one that stays out of the way and does what the gaffer says. They've invested in the training facilities as Chris requested. Thumbs up from me

If McCabe was sole owner, there's no way we would have shelled out the kind of transfer fees that we did last season.

Most likely, he would have been in Wilder's ear telling him to carry on spending the bare minimum and hoping he can continue to weave his magic. If we'd have gone down, it would have been down to 'bad luck' and absolutely nothing to do with McCabe.

No bigger Blade than him, Seth.

Theres no way on Earth we would have signed McBurnie, Mousset or Berge with that cretin in charge.

Agree with everything you've said, but don't think it answers the question..

Back on topic; I read through the Reading fans’ views on Meite that, I think, Bergen Blade posted (apologies if it was somebody else, it was long, long ago when we were discussing the potential signing and all that.) Most of them were positive and a few of them said Meite would be good for the McGoldrick role. I have never noticed him in a game as I only really focus on our players. Is this a decent idea of what type of player he is; but thank Christ he seems to be able to score a goal, or is it just the Reading fans not really knowing McGoldrick’s role in our system as they probably don’t watch us that often?

If we could get a 24 year old quick, powerful, hard working McG replacement with good potential and goals to bring, I’m all for it.

Apologies for going back to the Meite discussion, I know some of you were having fun.

By the way, I reckon it’s pronounced My-tay. A bit like “the Mighty Blades” but with more emphasis on the “tay” bit. Unless it’s like the cocktail; is it a Mai Tai? Something like that, anyway.

Thank you for your attempts to get this back on track. Don’t hold out much for your chances of keep it there mind!!

A few sleeper cells been activated on this thread. 😂

What are they trying to gain by doing this?, do they think that if they sow seeds of doubt in our minds that somehow it will affect the players, and Wilder/Knill?

Bizarre.

No offence to the guy who originally stated he would rather have Chancer but it has to be the most bizarre suggestion I have ever read

And I want to clarify that includes if anyone has ever suggested Garth Crooks is a good analyst or if anyone has suggested that they would like to join Garry Glitters gang, neither would be stranger comments than that

Looking at the Reading forum, he seems a bit....Mar-Meite

Then again, he has a song. Can we do some proper research and find out how it goes?

Edit: found it....

🎶We've got Meite,
Yakou Meite
i just don't think you understand,
we signed him on a free,
from Psg,
we've got Yakou Meite!🎶

cant see that one coming across with him.

Has he? Or has he loaned the club money?
Well someone else’s money anyway.
He’s created a company with no assets, to buy a stadium...and hasn’t made a single payment to that club for it.
And you think he’s awash with cash just transferring funds?
Jesus wept.

He’s loading the club with debt, using assets as collateral. And it’s going to end the way many of these so called billionaires flirtations with football end. Badly
This, this and more of this.

Chansiri has done nothing more than saddle the Wendy with enormous amounts of debt. He’s not gifting the club suitcases of money with no desire to see it again.

Jack Walker invested his own money at Blackburn. Dave Whelan probably at Wigan. No other fucker does. It is debt saddled against a club that they can usually walk away from.

I can’t quite believe what I’ve read up to this point - p8.
