What's the craic with him then? Obviously returning from his loan, but adequate cover for Stevens next season?

Good competition, or even a potential replacement depending on how Stevens does?

I hope we keep him around and try to get him involved. If he doesn't look ready the first few times we still have Osborn (and JR in an emergency). Hopefully he'll get some minutes in the friendlies coming up.

Never seen him play. It would be great if he did come through to the first team. We definitely need to start producing some of our own players again. Interesting what would have happened had Rammers stayed with us instead of going to B'mouth. Would he have got a season in the PL with us? That was a major factor in him becoming an established PL player ready to go into our present team. I doubt it.

Seems to have the athleticism to play the role, which is a the key attribute for PL football more generally.
He really looks the part to me.I honestly forget the match i saw him play in ,it was while he was on loan but he was head and shoulders better than any other guy on the pitch.Really quick and loves getting forward he was a real threat to the opposition.

After the ridicuous transfer fees and wages quoted for lower division players to fill the back up roles out wide I wonder how seriously CWAK are looking at using the likes of Slater and RND this season.

I for one would rather we find out whether RND has what it takes to replace Stevens than pay another kid 45k a week to see if he does

So unless 'people get more realistic with their demands i can see us going down this route.

He could use a Championship loan really. Even if that's just until Christmas. Stick a recall on it.

I think another loan, but this time to the Championship would be ideal for him. Unsure whether there is / would be any suitors though.

I think with Jack Robinson & Ben Osborn kicking about we can afford to let RND develop for one more year and then re-assess whether he's the future, or if we need to invest.

Right wing back needs more attention.

No point him being here if he's not going to get regular 1st team footy, se if someone like Rotherham would take him so we can keep tabs.

Bringing young players through is something CWAK haven't really done since they got here (Brooks being the obvious exception). I can't think of any. They've sold plenty, Brooks, Ramsdale, DCL so I can't see the harm in starting the season with RND as backup to Stevens. We have Osborn as cover too. We have got the January transfer window to correct it if this is a mistake. Great time to bring young players through too with no crowd pressure. Give him a chance. GLTTL

Whoever deputises for Stevens, they should be doing so based on merit and ability. If Norrington-Davies isn't at a level where he would be adequate cover for Stevens, then keeping him around benefits nobody.

Widler proved with Brooks that he is willing to play youngsters, it only works if they can make a meaningful impact though - it can't just be sentiment.

I think we are doing it the right way. Loans at EFL clubs and monitoring progress, the moving them up a league when it suits.

If you consider that Dean Henderson has been at Grimsby, Shrewsbury and us (2 seasons) and he still might not be ready for the first team at Man U it puts it into perspective.

Bringing young players through has been nigh on impossible considering our meteoric rise. Only the very best, who were too good for our academy at the time anyway, were only ever likely to make it. Hence why there's only been Brooks.

I think RND is certainly at a level where he could be pushing for a place in the squad.

I hope so, he was well liked at Barrow by the management team season before last. Speaking to one of them recently he thinks he's PL squad quality but reckons he could do with a year playing in the Championship to toughen up.

I've never seen him play but noticed he played 28 times for Rochdale last season. Does anyone know if he was injured for part of the season?

They curtailed the L1 season due to Covid, he was a regular

I saw him in the cup game up here against Newcastle last season and he was a cut above, allbeit in a comedy defence. The things that impressed me most were his stregnth and positional sense. Kept Premier League opposition in check on his side. Hard to tell if he has the full set attributes Wilder expects of a full back, i suspect that a full preseason would have given him a beter chance to show that.

A further loan with decent coaches at somewhere like MIllwall would suit his development, half a season rather than a full one.
