Henderson or Ramsdale?

This makes no sense. Why would they offer a new contract to a player when they’ve agreed a price for them to leave if the loan is successful?
To keep the player or to get a larger fee for them.
edit: the wages that the wealthier clubs throw around mean nothing to them (even Fulham probably Villa)

My last comment has prompted a memory; weren't Man City looking at Ramsdale when he went to Bournemouth? I seem to remember United trying to start a bidding war which ended with a Man City rep just stating words to the effect, 'if he turns out well we'll just pay whatever we need to get him later.'

Think they said that in relation to the Brooks transfer to us from themselves, mate?
Might be wrong.
UTB

Sounds more feasible but something still tells me it was Ramsdale, my memory's not great though.

Ramsdale - its time we had our own keeper and in the long run, he will be an asset to the club. On the other hand if a Henderson loan allowed us to strengthen other key areas of the first 11 then perhaps Wilder will go with that option, if indeed it is an option?

And if we were ever to sneak into European competition, Ramsdale would be a vital 1st teamer who had also been developed at our club. Squads need a minimum of home developed players (or at least that's how it used to be on Football Manager!!)

Both are definitely good enough....young with big futures likely to improve further.

All things being equal I’d give Henderson the edge and choose him BUT the important factor is that things aren’t equal.

Ramsdale is permanent on an average PL salary.
Henderson belongs to Man Utd....he and MU have made it clear he’ll never sign for SU....and he’s on much higher wages.

So looking at the overall picture....you would probably give the nod towards Ramsdale.
New signings are normally risks because clubs usually don’t know how they’ll adapt to the PL or how they‘ll settle at the club.

Regards Ramsdale there is ZERO risk.....we know he can perform well at PL level.
He’s already been a SU player, so he already knows the club well and we already know his leadership qualities and personality.

Both, it gives competition, we haven't had two good keepers since Tracey and Kelly.

then send Moore out on loan and let them compete for no1, keeps them on their toes and it doesn't matter who starts then 🤷‍♂️

Compete at Man Utd or here who would you choose? No way Henderson will do that

Having Henderson is like a shite affair, you know they'll never leave the one they are with, even though they constantly get lied to, promised all sorts, given gifts of money etc etc, although wants to keep coming round to have a good time

Time to move on unless there's some commitment

Looking forrad to the game vs Spurs this season where Erik Lamela goes in for a badly timed challenge in the area and there’s all sorts that kick off.
I can see the headline now.
“Ramma Lama Ding Dong!”

The way I see it is that we've been very fortunate to have had Hendo on loan at a crucial time in our history and that he has undoubtedly played a very significant part in our recent success , both in terms of gaining promotion to the Premier League and our achievements having got there .

That being said , it has been obvious for some time that he was never going to stay with us and , with that being the case , it was imperative that we found a quality goalkeeper to replace him on a permanent basis .

Of all the ones we have been linked with and realistically within our price / wages structure , Ramsdale for me is the best option and I'm sure that a return to BDTBL would be great for both him and us .

Henderson obviously looks the better goal keeper at present because he's played behind a better defence for the last couple of seasons, and also knows how the defence plays,
For me that's the biggest thing in Henderson's favour And it's also my biggest worry, because who ever takes over this season will have very little time to bed in.
Add to this the fact that we have been traditionally slow starters these last few seasons, leaves me just hoping the fans will not get on the new lads back if he doesn't start off with a string of wonder saves.

Or maybe he'll be used to having to do that anyway........ ;)

It’s all about the concentration.
we don’t offer that many chances so a keeper has to be alert for the full duration of the game, besides having the talent to keep it out of the onion bag

Plus i cant see Henderson staying after another season so the competition for No1 at the Lane would really push Ramsdale and improve his game

Obviously Henderson is better but he’s out of our reach and we need a perm goalkeeper so Ramsdale.

Its like asking Mcburnie or Mbappe

Henderson just posted on his Instagram thanks for past 2 years so no sign of him coming back

That’s that then?

Cant continue to live season to season not having our own number 1. It must also take a lot of recruitment effort focusing on that position when that energy and resource could be spent elsewhere.

Do I believe Ramsdale is as good as Henderson now? No

Would I rather have Ramsdale than Henderson? Yes
I’ve said this many times. If Hendo was our player, he wouldn’t be our player now. Everybody would have been in for him after this season. The loan has offered us a certain amount of protection from the predators as the Mancs won’t sell to Chelsea or any other top six team and the player was getting valuable Premier league experience.

You’re underestimating what we did for Hendo. We got a daft lad and very good keeper from MU. We made him into a man and a superstar.....We can do the same with Ramsdale.
