Think Wilder will definitely be interested, but it will depend on Robinson going and who else wants him.

Personally think he's likelier to sign for us than Leeds or Villa, but if the likes of Everton come flashing their knickers, we're knackered.

You haven't been impressed by his many outstanding performances & 25 goals this season? What would impress you?
Proven at this level by the way is for now way above our pay grade, even Haller at WH & Joelinton at Newcastle were £40m with wages to match.
 
Commentators last night were saying how he delayed his move to Brentford by a year as he felt he wouldn’t get minutes straight away.

So might play in our favour if clubs like Everton come knocking- if we can sell the fact he will get minutes with us

All will pay the £18M so the player will just hold out for the highest wages which puts us out of the race.

I don't see this. His best attributes are pace, anticipation and strength. I think we lack these AND you can never have enough of them.

If all he's bothered about is who pays the most money we might as well not bother putting in a bid. But he might've looked at what Wilder has achieved with us and thought to himself I'll have a bit of that!
 
For those that aren’t too bothered about him, is this solely based on his performance yesterday? Because I watched him with a load of scepticism earlier in the season and immediately started to see what all the fuss is about, and till yesterday he’d looked better every time I saw him. If we only signed players that never had the occasional bad game, we would currently have a squad of zero.
 
Was Andy Robertson proven? was Harry Maguire proven? no they were not until they were given a chance.

Was Jamie Vardy a proven premier league striker before he moved to Leicester no he wasn't and he won the golden boot last season.

The lad is quality and up top with McBurnie I think we would have a quality partnership.
 
I have seen a fair bit of him, and I’m not judging him on how he’s done for Brentford, I’m looking at how he would do for us.

Yesterday’s game showed how he would manage playing for us when starved of service and creative chances. Until we get more sustained amounts of possession in midfield, are able to break with pace and accuracy running with the ball and turn possession into quality chances through the middle as well as out wide we may as well not bother.

It’s all right looking at goals scored and how he’s played in a very attack minded and creative Brentford side, but just remember the huge gap between the standard of defenders in the premier league compared to the championship. Physical attributes and pace being the biggest difference!

We need Mousset type players, of that build and pace (but consistent) and Watkins though appearing like that in the league below will be found lacking in the Premier.

That’s my opinion. Regardless whether we can afford the fee, wages, or are able to tempt another southerner north with likely several other suitors.
Hate to say it, but reckon he’d be a good replacement for Bamford at the scum.
 

Watkins will follow Smith to Villa I've no doubt about it unfortunately
 
18m for Watkins yet Newcastle paid 40m for Joelinton 🤣🤣🤣

With some of the dinosaurs that follow our club you would think that we were still in league 1 signing Dean Hammond Marcus Williams 🤣

He's not going to play for that dinosaur Hodgson, he'll waste his career away
Hodgson is a steady pair of hands but a bringer of youth he is not
 
Could just be me being biased but why would anyone willingly choose to play under Hodgson/Smith over Chris Wilder

I agree, we played most of last season with about 30-40% possession, home and away. This would need to change for someone like Watkins to deliver the skill set he's shown for a Brentford side who often enjoy large amounts of possession in an attack minded team.
 
I'm not sure about Watkins. Not for £18 million. Especially when he's not going to play alongside McBurnie and so one will be on the bench. I think the money probably needs to go on someone to play next to McBurnie in the long-term.

Imo he'd be playing alongside mcb. Him and moose would battle it out, however with mooses fitness record, he wouldn't be fighting much.
