Outgoing? Mousset?

I’m hoping Mousset will really appreciate the way Wilder let him basically finish the season early for personal reasons and kick on next year, thanking Wilder for it by scoring 10-15 goals.

I couldn't care less what car he drives. I also couldn't care less about his personal problems, sorry if that's harsh. I have empathy for anyone that goes through difficult times, but everyone does, at some point in their lives. I accept that if they are going through a difficult time personally it may impact on their contribution to the team. Fair enough, but if that's the case then don't play them until they are ready to make a good contribution. But that situation can't run on indefinitely.

When it comes down to him, or anyone else who plays for my football team, all I care about is that they give 100% and make a positive contribution on the pitch. To me the lad has been an enigma since he joined us. Unfit to play when he got here, brilliant and devastating in flashes, and equally looking like he can't control a ball, and making poor choices in good positions, in other games.

The only thing that matters is whether he can put whatever problems he's got, or had, behind him and be the player that we've seen in flashes, consistently throughout a season? And none of us know that.

I'm not in the camp of "get rid" and I'm not in the camp of "he's had a difficult time, but he'll come good". I'm in the camp of, "from what we've seen so far, it would be foolish to rely on him being our main attacking spark, in a team that desperately needs more attacking spark". If I was the team manager, (and thankfully I'm not), I would not stake my reputation on him "coming good", because he's created doubt about that, for whatever reasons. He is the architect of this situation, not the victim.

The decision on whether he stays or goes will probably come down to how we are planning to re-shape the team, and whether Wilder has enough confidence that he is going to be a significant part of it, or traded to bring others in who we feel more confident about filling that role.

at 23 should be able to cope with lifestyle set backs.
Majority of people have traumer in there early 20's
But they aren’t on £20,000 / week, quite often in the real world at that age issues and problems are related to money, employment, providing for a family etc all exacerbated by social media with prickish behaviour on instagram diminishing my sympathy for the lad.

As Cerberus Blade says I want to see him perform on the day, not tell the club he’s in a bad place then hit the boom boom with his mates on worldwide social media, he’s sticking 2 fingers up to the fans who are going through tougher time’s than him.

Absolute baller but I don't think he's reliable long term. He might get fit for a while but he's not going to sustain it for months or years.

Lots of people get a gym membership in January but back on the settee with wine and crisps in March.

The mentality is either there or it's not and I think there's enough evidence to say it's not for Lys.

Even if his mentality isn’t there he can still do enough damage coming off the bench each week for half an hour

But somehow he's still managed to become a professional footballer 🤔

Yes, crazy how someone gets to this position after being given a lifeline and with so much potential hasn't got the mentality to fulfill it.

Feel for all the lads without his talent who would have done everything to make it work.

That decision will be down to Wilder and I think he knows a lot more about Mooses situation, personal problems and his footballing prowess than any of us on a Football Forum
Personal problems will affect a footballers performance on the pitch to say you dont care about his problems is very harsh some people need to be given a bit of slack in such circumstances and be supported through the hard times

He IS a professional footballer.
He has 'fulfilled it'.

I know what you're saying but to be a professional footballer is not Moose's potential.

His potential is to start up front for Paris with Mbappe, not in and out of our squad making the odd underwhelming subs appearance for us.

I want the best for the guy, I think he's mega but he could be so much more if his mentality was better.

What are you on about ?

Regardless of anything else, the lad can't last 90 minutes. If his fitness can't be increased massively then he's a liability. We simply don't have the money to carry strikers.

Clearly back on the continent, I just don’t get Instagram. I was expecting some pics of his missus, new baby, all the things He’s Missed that have contributed to him being off his games during the last 7 months.
Instead he’s bombing about somewhere with his mates listening to shit music and waving his hands about.
Would you stick personal pictures or your wife and child on your public insta feed? I wouldn’t, that would be for friends and family only so on my private account. Given we knew little about his girlfriend expecting I think he sees that side of his life as private.

Aside from the nonsense around what he puts on social media, he’s had an absolutely awful personal issues to deal with on top of everything Covid has brought which will have made it an incredibly mentally tough first year.
Within that he scored some crucial goals and was our real spark in attack when he was on the pitch.
I hope he comes back in more settled and mentally ready to rip the next season in two.

We’ve carried Rodwell, Zivkovic, Clarke, Retsos, Morrison, Freeman, Verrips, Holmes and Besic this season to name a few. I’m pretty sure we can support one of our players who is struggling mentally...

I agree with that lot bar Besic, who wasn't here all season and definitely contributed. You could have the other Freeman in his place.

I really think with Moose it’s a developmental thing. He’s a kid; he should be allowed time. I personally think he’s been managed well, despite his behaviours going against the grain. He needs space to grow, to learn to know what he wants and for his football to start to be the most important thing to him. He’s had a difficult year, when other, more important things, have rightly intervened. I think if he’s afforded the freedom now, to be who he needs to be, he will pay back dividends! He is an unquestionable talent, I’m just glad he’s in the hands of our trusted team.

His prognosis as a consistent player could well depend on what his family structure is going to be.
We hear he has a gf in France & a new baby.
Does he want this relationship to continue ?
Are she & baby going to move here to be with him ?
Are they gonna stay in France , leaving him to his "single young man" lifestyle as seen on social media ?
There are huge issues to be resolved.
I can't see the attraction in Sheffield for his gf.
Nor can I see much happiness for either of them so far apart.
It's not even like a normal job where he could be home by Friday night + return Monday morning.
To me , the likelihood is a return to France for him.

I think people are remembering Besic’s contribution differently to me. He started both games against Man City and his other 7 appearances were off the bench where his average playing time was about 10 minutes. Luke Freeman certainly contributed more in terms of playing time, though granted most of his minutes came at the start of the season so it’s easier to forget that.

Besic was playing and contributing, even from the bench, before his loan ended. Luke Freeman, on the other hand, got frozen out of the team almost entirely.

How much was Besic contributing? Freeman was injured, he wasn’t frozen out. Freeman played more minutes than Besic did.

He wasn't playing much before his injury was he? And rightly so.

I just thought Besic did well when he came on. I know I'm not alone in thinking we should have made it permanent in January.

As I said, he was playing plenty at the start of the season but it’s easier to forget that far back. In the middle of the season Fleck was outstanding so it was difficult for Freeman to get a look in. The last bit of the season he was injured. There’s plenty on here who also thought Freeman did well when he played. Besic barely played more than 10 mins, his contribution was minimal.

There’s no point in having Besic fill a squad position if he doesn’t offer better than we already have. We might as well recruit someone who is going to challenge the team for a starting position.

Besic wasn’t even on the bench for a large portion of the back half of the season. We will recruit better this summer and move on.

I'm not saying we should sign him now, I just thought he was worth ago then.

What I am sure about, and said at the time, is that we shouldn't have bought Luke Freeman. He wouldn't have got into our Championship team and he damn sure wasn't going to force his way into a Premier League XI.
