Fully take the point Oakland, but if in a parallel universe we were offered Bellamy on the basis most reported to Cardiff and were asked to contribute £20k of his wages, what would the answer be if we're not signing players on less than half that? A lot of what we do is going to be based on the levels of generosity of clubs and players. I suspect the pull of "The valleys" has led to Bellamy and Koumas driving these loans through because they actually want to go there. Here's hoping Kevin Davies is tired of Bolton.
So how would you of kept them when they wanted to go?Look at the other side of the coin.Never mind the players who might attract the missing fans back. What about fighting tooth and nail to keep the decent players we've had in the past. The most recent being the two Kyles.Ever since ive being going to the Lane,we have consistently sold players.Only the Blades would have sold their centre forwards just before an Fa Cup semi final. This is the trend that needs to be addressed at the Lane. We've changed managers, chairman, boards of directors, owners, the lot but the policy has always been the same.I started going in 1967,and my dad in the forties and he always said we should be the richest club in the country, the money we've made on transfers.

So how would you of kept them when they wanted to go?
You could easily have kept Walker with the straightforward promise that he could go the following year if we didn't go up, increasing his pay along the way.
When a man is tired of Bolton he is tired of...well...Bolton I suppose.
Wouldn't take long either I imagine.

But could we have done that and easily paid the bills?
So how would you of kept them when they wanted to go?
When all the stories at the time were that he was the one more determined to leave once he knew Spurs were interested
Highly unlikely to be true. Hey Walker you can forget that 20K a year pay packet we are going to keep you on your current terms until next season. You could easily have kept Walker with the straightforward promise that he could go the following year if we didn't go up, increasing his pay along the way.
Well the Kyles certainly did.Who wanted to go Bob?The Kyles,the centre forwards,Mick Jones,Tony Currie,Alex Sabella.Need i go on.
You could easily have kept him, just as Liverpool have kept hold of Javier Mascherano...Highly unlikely to be true. Hey Walker you can forget that 20K a year pay packet we are going to keep you on your current terms until next season.
I'm sure he would of said no problem Len.
Mebbes it was the agents, those pesky agents. They run our club, not the chairman or the directors. They're powerless.
You could easily have kept him, just as Liverpool have kept hold of Javier Mascherano...

Source?Because i think im correct in saying they were both offered and accepted improved contracts at the Lane.Only for one to be almost forced through the door once the Spurs offer came in.

Yes, when a player wants to go, he always goes, doesn't he Bob?
He was an 18-year-old kid who'd played five games. If we'd didn't have the management nous to keep him for one year, we may as well pack up (which is pretty much what we have done).
It was a short-sighted transfer which was all about getting money in now - with the intention that Evans would make up for it.
In the event, even the short-sightedness could have been forgiven if they'd got the loan right but they couldn't even do that.
As for comparing Walker with five games with an established World Cup star, oh dear.
That's not true.
How can we force them through the door, down to WHL and then force them to sign?
The only teams that currently hit 25 are Bolton, Fulham, Man City, Stoke, Spurs, West Brom and Wolves.
So, here's who looks at present at risk:
Bolton: No-one
Fulham: Eddie Johnson, then two of Diomansy Kamara/Pascal Zuberbühler/Fredrik Stoor/David Elm (I missed Dembele and Halliche off the original list, oops)
Man City: Robinho (going to Milan), David Gonzalez, Gunnar Nielsen, Kelvin Etuhu
Stoke: Mamady Sidibe (out for season), Ryan Shotton, Diego Arismendi (not sure when his loan ends at Barnsley). Shotton may get in if both Lawrence and Kitson go to Pompey in exchange for Wilson, freeing up a spot.
Spurs: Jonathan Woodgate (out forever)
West Brom: Luke Daniels, Dean Kiely (goalkeeping coach so won't go anywhere). Possibly Luke Moore if they decide to retain Daniels as a third keeper.
Wolves: Matt Hill, probably Carl Ikeme or dependent on injury, Michael Kightly.
