Depends on the contract being offered. I can't imagine that it will be as much this time around and it will probably be offered on the basis that he takes up some coaching capacity. I read an article whereby JOC was saying just how much he has learnt from Jags by training with him every day. A small contract to give experience and impart knowledge to the squad is a small price to pay imo.

Now if he is starting every week next season....

When you have Egan you won’t get anybody good or ambitious to benchwarm. Jags will do that, and so much more while he does his badges. Not sure about him as Bash cover, but Bash is the Duracell bunny, and there will be other options there.

Still in decent nick at 37 years old. Paul McGrath and Ugo Ehiogu were the same age when they signed for us and still 2 of the best centre backs I've seen in a blades shirt. Over 300 Premier League appearences and 40 England caps, his experience will be invaluable.

No probs giving him a coaching job but how can we justify player wages + a squad place to a guy who's looked off the pace when he's played ?
We have the lowest wages budget in the PL + we are supposed to be trying to improve the squad with new blood.

If he ranks ahead of Kean Bryan , why on earth are we keeping KB ? We need some proper competition for RCB & CCB. If Bash or Egan get a bad injury we are gonna struggle.

Makes sense. Egan has been excellent, he's a good age and has a good injury record.

Not an easy recruitment to get someone who is high calibre but in all likelihood will be back up only.

Didn't look off the pace against Chelsea. Made a brilliant block on a Tammy Abraham shot I think it was.

Just because we've signed/ are going to sign Jags again (possibly on a lower wage/pay as you play basis, who knows), it doesn't preclude us from getting other defenders in.

He may take up a place in the 25, but we've got players leaving the 25 like Leon, K. Freeman etc.

If we sign no other CBs then fair enough, but I can't see that. 69 days remaining in this window.
