that you think CW will also like ... and wouldn’t be ‘unrealistic‘.

Antonio - West Ham,
Pukki - Norwich,
Redmond - Southampton,
Deulofeu - Watford.

Pukki is truly shit. I agree with all the rest. I personally love Vardy as a player and would love him (loved) him at the Lane. If we could sign any player, in any mould, at that level this summer it would be Vardy.

I would want Cenk Tosun on loan. We need someone who can help fill the Didsy role. Wilder always wants new strikers, and a cheapish loan move for a player that has been described as a hybrid between a 9 and a 10 sounds like a dream come through.
Then we can shift on the Moose to greener pastures for a hefty profit, and get a new youngster in to ease the workload of mcburnie.

Almiron - Newcastle
Abraham - Chelsea
Harry Wilson - Liverpool
Kyle Walker - Man City
Tarkowaki - Burnley
Kyle Walker-Peters - Tottenham

It would be a big stretch but given his previous interest, I wonder if CW will ask the question about loaning Tammy Abraham next season given their signing of Werner. As Chelsea play one up-front, Abraham could easily find himself as third choice, which won't do him or his aspirations to play for England any good at all and what an addition he'd be for Utd.

Not sure he's anything more than a big lump up front (although his record indicates he knows where the goal is) but either way he's out of action until next year after suffering a knee injury which required surgery.

I think Cenk falls into the same category as many of our players do. They see that he's 6 foot, and assume he's less technical than he is. What I've seen, he has been lightning quick with his feet.
I didnt know he was injuried. We certainly don't need more injuries in that role.
Replacing Mcgoldrick is do hard, he does everything.
Unless we can persuade the likes of Joao Felix or Benzema to join, it's impossible to find someone better.

Antonio in our team would be perfect - would fit in perfectly and combine so many attributes that we currently split between 2 or 3 strikers.

What he doesn't fit into is our price range. I reckon he'd go for £45m upwards.

Players I like (purely Premier League for now);

Buendia
+ creativity from a central midfield, doesn't get regular games at Norwich
- Work rate?, doesn't get regular games at Norwich

Callum Wilson
+ Pace, finishing, think he'd make runs for McGoldrick's vision
- Injury prone, fee

Junior Stanislas
+ Pace, cover several positions, set piece
- Injuries

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (loan)
+ Ideal RCM, pace power, box to box, works hard, needs regular games for England aspirations
- Would be very upper limit of our budget and realism, is he in Chelsea's plans?

Theo Walcott
+ Pace, points to prove, likes playing centrally, good character
- Injuries

Adam Lallana (free)
+ Price, position flexibility, undoubted quality, attitude
- Injuries, wages

Zinchenko (Loan)
+ Position flexibility, quality, offer of regular games, Man City planning big summer, Pep loves Wilderball
- See RLC

Juan Foyth
+ Ideal competition for Basham, I think he's out of contract?, pace, right back/centre back, international experience, wants to play games
- Injuries, would he expect to come straight into the side

Will Hughes (if Watford relegated)
+ Young, British, hard working, footed, can play any midfield role
- Cant think of any worth noting

For a majority of our targets we will have to look in the Championship or abroad - our model of getting hungry, young(ish) players are too expensive or not available from fellow Premier League teams.

Instead of Enda???

Have you even seen McNeil play anywhere other than left wing? Forcing a square peg into a round hole would likely result in a repeat of the issues Marvin Johnson experienced (and he had played LB / LWB previously)

interesting after January that I’ve literally no idea who we might sign. You could give me 50’guesses and I’m not sure I’d get one right.

Originally, I would have said we’d look at the best and brightest in the champ or relegated PL clubs. But we picked up players from Belgium, China, Germany, free agents and championship Reserves - so I’ve no idea who we might go for.

I’d love a couple of Brentford’s attacking players if they don’t go up, though I suspect we wouldn’t be the only ones in for them.

Callum Wilson gave our defence as much trouble as anyone this season (imo).

im not even sure what positions we will be looking to bolster. I’d imagine a cb/rcb maybe and some more attacking flare

Wilson, Hughes and Ward-Prowse are good shouts.
They are all unrealistic:

Too expensive
Too old/overlap with Sharp
Too expensive
Too expensive

You can’t know about relegation clauses and the like. There might be an argument from some quarters as to why would they leave their current club to sign for us. But none of them are unrealistic. But thanks for your positive input.

That last sentence made me laugh 👍. I disagreed with what you said is all, they aren't realistic signings for a 2nd season PL club with a reduced transfer budget. The 3 in teams staying up are arguably in the top 3 best players at established PL clubs.

I am positive that Redmond, Antonio and Delafeau are out of our price range. I also don't think any of them would see United as being a step up that woukd make them leave their current club without a huge wage offer. And I don't believe United or Pukki would see this as a club his style would fit at. He thrives on through balls, not an aspect of our attacking play unless it's on the counter.

Nice one 👍. Have you any suggestions of your own?

I think you might be pleasantly surprised with our transfer dealings in that case.

CW certainly won’t be seeing us as a “second season PL club” - he’s way more ambitious than to look at us in that light. Yes, I know we are, but that’s not the sort of thinking that has progressed us so rapidly through the leagues under his tenure. And the budget is reduced only because of COVID-19 - something that has affected football from top to bottom and, in turn, all aspects of the financial side of the game. We may try to take advantage of that.

I'm wrong all the time so if you're right on this one (especially Antonio) I'll be delighted

I've got no idea of the budget we are working to (other than the information being that it's reduced from what was originally planned), if we are planning to change the formation at all, if any players will be leaving etc.

If Henderson leaves we need 2 goalkeepers. Probably one in the 21-25 range (The two Turkish lads have been mentioned) and then a steady starter - I'd see how much Villa want for Heaton if they go down

We need a replacement for Jagielka. Could it be Rodwell? I don't know. Most likely we try to pick up somebody on a free/low fee from a fellow Premier League team. Yoshida from Southampton is out of favour - not saying him but somebody of that type

I'd love to add some athleticism to the team, potentially in midfield/at WB. We have Lunny and Osborn - Could Lundstram cover for Baldock? If not we need to add somebody who can play there as Freeman will be gone

We need somebody who can at least come close to replicating what Didzy does - I've not seen much of Eze but I know people like him - I think he's most likely to sign for another London club but who knows. Swift is another option but I have no idea if he has any history playing with his back to goal. You have to be able to do that to fill Didzy's role. You mention Delafeau. In theroy he has the flair for a role like that but he's much more suited wide and as currently set up he would be very much a luxury we can't afford. Redmond is similar to GD. And they are both very short. Didzy offers a huge amount defending set pieces

If Moose is broken beyond repair then our biggest need outside a GK is a forward who can stretch defences. I doubt it's Zivcovic. Dennis from Belgium? I have no idea. Antonio would be perfect but I have no idea why West Ham would consider selling their best player. It's not Pukki.

No way could we afford McNeil or even be in the hunt, he's destined for bigger things (and probably with a club which play wingers, which would help)

Regarding the point of the thread, players I like who we haven't been linked with to my knowledge:
Karlan Grant - goalgetter, defence stretcher, and frighteningly quick. Impressed in a poor poor Huddersfield side
Ben Godfrey - serious pace and potential successor to Basham
Jack Cork - good bit of depth for midfield and he has played in defence, might fancy a new challenge after Burnley

Renato Sanches ;)
I would love us to dip into the Brentford model. Their recruiting has been incredible imo.

How much, if any, would European qualification, affect our shopping list?

Surly it'd be a tipping point with players who would be at the top end of our reach.

Squad size would be my biggest concern. I would probably not invest in high end talent, rather focus on young and exciting prospects.

You’re not wrong about Brentford. Picked up some gems over the past few years.

Where have you plucked Renato Sanches from?! Used to love that dude but after a pretty flat loan spell at Swansea I’ve not heard much about him.
