It would be a big stretch but given his previous interest, I wonder if CW will ask the question about loaning Tammy Abraham next season given their signing of Werner. As Chelsea play one up-front, Abraham could easily find himself as third choice, which won't do him or his aspirations to play for England any good at all and what an addition he'd be for Utd.
That wouldn't make any difference with Abraham regarding the England set up, he could finish up playing in Chelsea's ladies team and Southgate would still pick him👍

How much would Benrahma cost if Brentford don’t go up?

How much, if any, would European qualification, affect our shopping list?

Surly it'd be a tipping point with players who would be at the top end of our reach.

I’m sure i’ve read that qualification to the Europa League Group Stages could be worth up to £40m - that nearly covers the cost of buying Bramall Lane etc.

You’re not wrong about Brentford. Picked up some gems over the past few years.

Where have you plucked Renato Sanches from?! Used to love that dude but after a pretty flat loan spell at Swansea I’ve not heard much about him.

I had high hopes for him when he was at Bayern and apparently he's done quite well this year at Lille. Sadly, I dont not have any real insights.... just a player i thought had a ton of potential and didnt really live up to it.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (loan)
+ Ideal RCM, pace power, box to box, works hard, needs regular games for England aspirations
- Would be very upper limit of our budget and realism, is he in Chelsea's plans?

Was thinking that the other day. Wilder would turn RCL into a beast of a player.

Loftus-Cheek when fit is like a solid gold diamond encrusted Lundstram.

No chance though because of the ridiculous wages. Bet he's on close to £200K a week.

Just a little caveat with all these players that seem too expensive for a loan.
Wilder will have made a big splash and a big impression with a lot of the other managers. Let's also remember that some of the big clubs also have young up and coming Managers that are still learning themselves
He has been gracious in victory and defeat and our style and success won't have gone unnoticed.

If some of these huge clubs have players demanding that they get more game time or in some cases at least make the bench then most managers know that they can do a lot worse than to send them to Chris and AK to help with their development.

Only last week I heard Lampard say he learned A LOT from playing us, I'm sure he meant about some of his players character and defensive abilities but I reckon a lot of that stemmed from seeing how a pub side played his World 11 off the park.

Off to Chelsea isn't he, promoted or not. ?

What a player. But. And as much as I love maverick, creative number 10’s. I don’t think they’d work well in our system unless we got considerably better players, which isn’t a slight on our players but we just couldn’t afford it at the moment. Really like John McGinn but I think he’d be too much.

I'd love us to sign someone like Lee Bowyer in his Leeds days. A proper dickhead who has bags of energy, but also can create and score goals.

Am I right in thinking Brenford don't have an academy, hence their scouting system being one of the best.
As with Watkins you are always going to pay a premium when you buy a player from there, but on the other hand they are more than willing to sell.

I'd say he would cost a bit more than McBurnie, so £23m?
Maybe nab him for £17- 20 if the lockdown has affected things more than we realise.

Matty Cash (RWB) - Nottingham Forest
Jayden Bogle (RWB) - Derby County
Antonee Robinson (LWB) - Wigan Athleric
Rico Henry (LWB) - Brentford
Jed Wallace (RCM) - Millwall
John Swift (RCM) - Reading
Jeff Hendrick (RCM) - Burnley
Eberechi Eze (AM/FWD) - QPR
Said Benrahma (AM/FWD) - Brentford
Aleksandar Mitrovic (FWD) - Fulham
Ollie Watkins (FWD) - Brentford

The above are players, mainly from the football league, who (provided they're not promoted) should be attainable at a reasonable price.

From abroad, we've been linked with U. Cakir (GK), A. Bayindir (GK), Cobbaut (RCD), M. Camara (RCM), F. Coman (AM/FWD), A. Sorloth (FWD), E. Dennis (FWD) but I've not seen enough of them to really comment.

Kept having their best kids nicked by the big boys so shut it down. Now run a B team where they take the best of the released kids from Spur/Arsena/chesea/Wes ham etc. Benham runs Smartodds & Matchbook. He purchases players based on stats & algorithm, not just by normal scoutin.

Probably not an exciting suggestion but I recently saw an article suggesting Ainsley Maitland-Niles wants out at Arsenal due to his lack of playing time under Arteta.

He was a regular last season and had a lot of plaudits for his performances. Young, energetic, technically sound and can play RWB or RCM.

Think he’d be a good fit for us.

Big Mick, when he had him on loan at Ipswich couldn’t wait to get shut. (allegedly) His attitude stunk.

Antonee Robinson is an interesting one, off to AC Milan but then detected some sort of heart problem, not sure what it was, but with Wigan’s current plight and wilder friendly with Mr Cook got to be worth a look. As long as the player is healthy enough, could be quite a coup.

Buendia
Cantwell
Benrahma
Jack Cork
Lallana
Ollie Watkins
Max Aarons
Mo Besic
Karlan Grant
Fabian Schar
Callum Wilson
Tammy Abraham

The problem with all this for me is nobody deserves to be replaced!

I obviously get that we will always be looking to improve, but which players do we want to challenge? Basham? Enda? Baldock? The strikers?

We've been successful for years in picking up cheap, unfashionable players to cover established players such as Cranie, J. Robinson, Hanson etc. rather than expensive youngsters with potential like Bogle, A. Robinson, or Godfrey.

I don't think it's a case of "replacing" people, but having two viable options of equal quality for each position (& a bit of variety up front).
Next year there's the very real possibility of us competing in Europe. There's also the introduction of five subs. Add to this the possibility of further disruption from Covid and the potential for another congested fixture list.
Up until recently we've been very fortunate with injuries, but I would expect to see more next season due to the curtailed summer break and pre-season.
It's going to be more important than ever for us to have genuine squad depth and quality. I suspect we'll be more likely to have to introduce an element of squad rotation to meet the demands of the schedule.
