One of the worst decisions I have ever seen

They are saying that a decision that follows the letter of the law is one of the worst decisions he has ever seen

I mean fucking seriously, they love to pick and choose what to be angry at, VAR wasn't at fault, it worked like it fucking should do, THE RULE IS THE PROBLEM.

I agree with Wilder if that happens to us we would be annoyed, but at least be annoyed at the right thing, expecting the VAR to use common sense today, defending them at Villa not long ago

I think he was referring more to the 'common sense' of it all, he might even have used that phrase.

Nah I want us to buck the trend to be honest, I'd rather us have an honest club that plays and wins with integrity.... But I don't blame them at the same time for playing the game it has been made to become today.

Not really, they ignored the foul on their player which the ref played on from as Spurs had the advantage

So what should the ref do? Stop play and give a free kick instead of playing on?

Or after the VAR decision should the ref then pull play back to give Spurs the freekick?

Or do we just use common sense and allow the goal?

Like the West Ham one last night it’s wrong. VAR is turning the game into a farce at times

It's making a mockery of the game. I understand it's the rule that needs changing but I agree with Redknapp. It was up there with the worst decisions of all time. In effect Moura's penalised twice. He's fouled then inadvertently falls on the ball which ends with a goal being disallowed. Probably a different game if the goal stands.

I don't think he was fouled. He seemed to go down in a normal collision of the type you might get when players are going for the ball and their hips or knees connect in the course of running. If he thought he was fouled he didn't dive. The handball is stupid - letter of the law yes, but spirit of the law as in seeing to gain unfair advantage, definitely not. Shame the refs these days haven't got the balls to stand up to the VAR mob and make the correct decision. NB Apparently, VAR isn't allowed to rule on fouls ...

Sorry but VAR hasn't used common sense all season and so why should Spurs benefit from now that's the rule and it's tough shit, Egan had one ruled out for accidentental hand ball that put the ball in that was going in

If hypothetically McBurnie pushes Dier into the back of Mousset in the Spurs box as Mousset was shaping to shoot, you don’t award a penalty. Surely the common sense interpretation of the rule would have been Moura has been fouled into handling the ball, play-on from point after the foul (ie after the handball). Souness does sort of answer that by saying common sense isn’t in the rules – the instance today is just the latest in a long list of examples of why it’s a law that needs binning ASAP. Regardless of us benefiting from it today, there is no way we should want that to continue as a way to overturn goals. It’s made VAR far worse than it would have otherwise been.

spot on. what happened today was harsh but it isnt even the worst decision in the 2 games between Sheffield United & Tottenham. Lundstram was far worse. because it wasnt even same phase of play

but this goes back to VAR & how it needs to focus on quality not quanity not every goal needs checking scientifically . like many goals were seen last night with west ham when they spent 5 mins on fractions of mm's

I agree mate completely it’s just hard to take the powers that be on, and tonight feels like they have evened one of our very poor decisions out over the season not taking away our performance at all.

You’re missing the point. VAR prevented a goal but then VAR/ ref should’ve given spurs a freekick...
