Be a bit embarrassing ...

, but the inescapable fact is that whatever spin you put on the support or success, they are pigs. We are better than them in every way, we have the best club, we play in the best colours, on the best pitch, in front of the best supporters (even allowing for the really miserable bastards).

Totally agree, well said DD. Cannot understand why people argue with the deranged cnuts. :nono:

More pro-Wednesday drivel from our resident Pig. You are determined to look at everything from whatever angle puts them in a better light - however weak your argument. The fact is we've had better crowds recently. And we averaged over 30k in the Prem despite being relegated - they couldn't manage it even when they qualified for Europe. Enjoy life in League One, porker.

Porker? I've had a season ticket on the Kop for the past 10 seasons.

Wednesday were an established 1st Division/Premier League club during the late 80s and for almost the entirety of the 90s so nobody was in a hurry to buy tickets just to see them play against Man Utd and Liverpool because it was normal for them. .

Is this why they generally sold out against these teams? Surely if it was 'normal' for them.... they would have averaged around 39,000

Just received the police advisory notice at work and they're expecting between 19,000-21,000 as the attendance for Saturday. Away support of 600-1000.

Be very dissapointing to get less than 25k IMO.

1,200 sold for QPR yesterday alone according to the ticket office, highest demand since play-offs !!

Safe to say we're going to beat 23,000 :)

Why? I doubt anyone but Derby & Leeds will average over 25k - & Derby is one of only two league teams in an entire county & Leeds is the largest city to have only one team. I wouldn't worry about our support - it's excellent all things considered. We just need our team to match it.

For the first game of the season I'd expect a decent turn out. It's probably one of the few games this season we can expect one of the bigger crowds and I don't think 25k is unrealistic.

I'm sure it will be a decent turnout. But there are several games this season where I would expect bigger crowds - Leeds, Dingles, Hull, Derby, Forest....

If they're £34 quid a pop games you could be disappointed Deano. They'd need to be top of table clashes to get walk-ups through the door at that price.

We only averaged over 30,000 because we hadn't played in the Premier League for 12 years. Lots of people purchased tickets because they knew it was possibly a one off, rare opportunity to see Sheffield United play a Premier League season when we are traditionally a mediocre 2nd tier club.

They were in the top flight from 1984 to 2000 with the exception of the one season in Division 2 when they were releagted in 1990 (we can only dream of a stay in the top division for this long).

When they were promoted back to Division 1 in 1991 they averaged 29,589 so they weren't far off.
A man that speaks sense :D

Be more embarassing if we lost to hartlepool! Hahahaha... Oh wait... 2-0 down and we take off a striker for a defender?

Why the hell would I have nearly 400 posts on a United forum if I was a Sheffield Wednesday fan?

Are Len and peter season ticket holders? if not were they last year?

Please see the poster above you, dj_uk_1234.... he's an owl with 1,691 posts.

Yes but dj_uk_1234 is quite clearly open about the fact that he supports Wednesday. Why would I be pretending to be a Blade?

Thats the reason you need to get the plum games opening match of the season should always bring the biggest crowd of the season with no football for months plus a week of buiding the game up.
The Blades are overdue to have the opener,Boxing day and final game of the season the club shouls be making alot of noise about this loss.

Indeed, very logical.
Our board seem more interested in who's at home for St Leger Day though.

18,674 against Brighton suggests things are returning to normal......................................
