The article says the stadium is back in the ownership of the football club, I don’t get that. It’s in the ownership of HRH not the football club. HRH owns all the assets not the FC.

Have I got that right?
The Prince owns it all bud.

No. I don't like the normal "English" ownership model. Requiring some clown I'd rather not have owning the Club to own it. It's my Club. It's your Club. We've abolished slavery. I don't really care which kid without a proper train set has us as their toy. I think a football club requires a few key things - a ground being one of them. I find it very interesting that The Prince seems to get a free pass over not buying into the ground originally. This is (now was) a mess of his own making. I'm glad it's sorted. Strongly, strongly prefer the football side & the property side to be owned by the same "thing". I understand - people think if you criticise what The Prince has done, you must be a McCabe supporter. But, I'm not. I'm thankful we can move forward from the position he's re-established. But, it is re-established - it's square one, albeit a good square.
Phil, correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe McCabe separated the club and ground a year or two (maybe even longer) before the prince invested. I remember him at the time stating that "this makes the club a better prospect for investors". I might have just dreamt that. But I think McCabe was always only looking to sell 50 percent of the club without assets.

McCabe forced him somehow did he? Help me out with the words - The Prince was one of two signatories to a deal which split the football & property parts of the Club. How's that grabbing you?

That grabs me that I give up, you are obviously capable of negotiating a deal that suits both parties even when one party did not want to sell at an acceptable price. Oh for you to have negotiated deals in my behalf I would have been a v rich man

We didn’t tho did we . McCabe owned the property
There was a period where one thing (call it McCabe) owned both the football side & the property side.
Then there was a ridiculous period where two things (call them McCabe & The Prince) owned different bits of different parts of the football side & the property side. As fully agreed by BOTH the two things.
And, now, we are, thankfully, back to the original position of one thing (call it The Prince) owning both the football side & the property side.
It's good, but it's nothing new

I mean. We're supposed to celebrate are we? The Football Club has got to a position of owning our ground. You know - like the vast majority of Football Clubs always have. You know - like we ourselves always did. This was the position up until the day before The Prince arrived. We owned our own ground - paaaauuuusssse - we own our own ground. Whoooooopeeeee.
What ?

"The impact of Covid within Sheffield, as with the rest of the World, has led to many within our great City falling on difficult times. This has no doubt led to huge empathy from many of our own club and its own fans, who now understand the daily struggles involved with being a Sheffield Wednesday fan. As a result we will be holding a collection for our City rivals during our next home league game. All fans wanting to help this cause will find these fundraising collection buckets upon entrance through the turnstiles."
Shouldn't you be watching your team? Who are currently involved in a game ?

That may very well be the case. I won't correct you. It sounds like part & parcel of the shit that does the rounds.

Fair do's mate.

Re the above quote I'm not sure it was his choice. I am in no way ITK so to speak but get some very limited info. There's a reason so many less attractive clubs have been taken over before United even though we were probably a far better proposition. The reason for this was McCabe wanting to retain some of the club and the influence that comes with it. He truly thought he was The Club and his behaviour in all this back that up.

The Prince looked at Leeds Utd and was prepared to buy the whole club, lock stock the lot but felt they were over priced so pulled out. No reason to think he didn't want the same deal here.

I think he did it pretty cleverly personally.
He bought into the club for nothing, pumped in about £10m ish, all along knowing, that the contract would allow him to activate a clause, whereupon he could then buy the other half of the ownership for a measly £5m!!!
Hence McCabe hating him, because he knew he'd made an error after Wilder set us on our journey, only McCabe couldn't then backtrack, as he tried to do!
Also in said contract, I believe the option to purchase the ground could be taken, upon the prince being made sole owner......so, he bought the club very cheaply, and paid the current going rate for all the assets, rumoured to be around £50m ? So, he's just bought a premier league club, for £55m!!
That's not a bad deal for him in today's football world!!

I think he's been very clever indeed.

He's been a lot smarter than that, he's using the club's money to buy the ground (hence the low transfer budget this summer), so in effect he's bought a Premier League club for £5 million.

Oh I see. McCabe did force him......

You know it's very easy to do both right?

We're playing a lot better to be fair, the better side, but top 4/5 looks out of reach.

Stadium expansion, & any developments to the Kop, are dependent on the club bringing the parcels of land behind the Kop into their ownership. These are still owned by McCabe & will be resolved through arbitration.

The "further good news" is likely to be related to the development of the club's training facilities.
In any case, this is where the club has stated they will be prioritising their spending before any stadium expansion and rightly so. We're not an established Premier League club yet & can make do with current capacity for another season.

Different assets were stripped at different times ,enterprise centre hotel etc set against injections of equity Into the club ,

Oh, so what's the budget??
And I don't suppose Covid has affected that at all has it. Clever Prince.

Late to this party haven’t read the Statement.

Deos this mean the Disputed land around the Kop is now ours or is that still pending?

Are we supposed to piss in them?

I can rustle up something more substantial than that........

💩

Fantastic news.
I would assume the club has used it's PL income to buy the property. So it's owned by the club in name. Not the prince.
