I've heard they're putting a load of money into redeveloping swillsborough as a scrapyard
 
I mean. We're supposed to celebrate are we? The Football Club has got to a position of owning our ground. You know - like the vast majority of Football Clubs always have. You know - like we ourselves always did. This was the position up until the day before The Prince arrived. We owned our own ground - paaaauuuusssse - we own our own ground. Whoooooopeeeee.

We’re celebrating the fact it’s not owned by a funny little Thai man who didn’t pay for a vastly over inflated price, who then preceded to put it on last years accounts. I guess that’s not much of a feat really cause that’s a bit far fetched and is probably never going to happen in reality.

Not sure you're that far off with tbh.

I'm not sure we'll have fans inside stadiums this calendar year so we could probably get the bolt on proposal for the kop completed in this time surely?

No. I don't like the normal "English" ownership model. Requiring some clown I'd rather not have owning the Club to own it. It's my Club. It's your Club. We've abolished slavery. I don't really care which kid without a proper train set has us as their toy. I think a football club requires a few key things - a ground being one of them. I find it very interesting that The Prince seems to get a free pass over not buying into the ground originally. This is (now was) a mess of his own making. I'm glad it's sorted. Strongly, strongly prefer the football side & the property side to be owned by the same "thing". I understand - people think if you criticise what The Prince has done, you must be a McCabe supporter. But, I'm not. I'm thankful we can move forward from the position he's re-established. But, it is re-established - it's square one, albeit a good square.

I don’t think the current owners want to implement McCabes plans for the ground so I think they’d need to go through planning if they wanted to alter anything. If they’re going with the plans and removing the posts etc then great.
Just hope we buy the land over the back of BL for future development further down the line.

he did not chose one thing or the other as the property side was not for sale, unless he was prepared to pay what was then an unrealistic figure as McCabe wanted to retain it to lever control

McCabe forced him somehow did he? Help me out with the words - The Prince was one of two signatories to a deal which split the football & property parts of the Club. How's that grabbing you?

I think he did it pretty cleverly personally.
He bought into the club for nothing, pumped in about £10m ish, all along knowing, that the contract would allow him to activate a clause, whereupon he could then buy the other half of the ownership for a measly £5m!!!
Hence McCabe hating him, because he knew he'd made an error after Wilder set us on our journey, only McCabe couldn't then backtrack, as he tried to do!
Also in said contract, I believe the option to purchase the ground could be taken, upon the prince being made sole owner......so, he bought the club very cheaply, and paid the current going rate for all the assets, rumoured to be around £50m ? So, he's just bought a premier league club, for £55m!!
That's not a bad deal for him in today's football world!!

I think he's been very clever indeed.

He didn’t “choose” not to buy into the property side. McCabe separated that side of the business to ensure asset strippers didn’t get a foothold in the club. Which btw I think was well intentioned, it also ensured debt was written off when he transferred the assets.

However the fact remains the Prince was never given the option to buy into the property side. Now he owns the lot and we have to hope his intentions are good. From what I’ve seen of him at fans forums they are, he seems a genuine guy.

The proof will be in the pudding. He’s already stated he wants to improve and expand the Lane. He wants to build a new training ground. Plans have been made. Wilder likes him. He’s ensured he has had the backing to get in who he wants (within reason)

It’s a good day for Sheffield United.

Then why doesn't he just say that in his statement?
 
The article says the stadium is back in the ownership of the football club, I don’t get that. It’s in the ownership of HRH not the football club. HRH owns all the assets not the FC.

Have I got that right?
