I'm sure that's what Pep says to his teams when they've been outfought.

I'm as proud as anyone of this team but not tonight that performance was a bad one. They aren't immune from criticism.
 
We know how we can play. We can play that way again, you don't fluke 28 games surely.

Just need a bit of a reminder of what we can do, and to get off the mark.
 
Agree...anyone that says they wouldn’t have been happy with just survival at the beginning of the season are talking BS ...yes expectations have changed but a healthy dose of reality was probably needed ...still an amazing effort this year
 
Sometimes you have to accept that the opposition team and individual players are better than you.
At full strength there are several teams we struggle to cope with now.
That doesn’t mean we are not trying or are not good enough to be in this league: just the top 8
 
Wholly endorse the OP...save that, if beating Arsenal means that we may have to play Man City in a semi-final behind closed doors, I'm not sure that winning on Sunday is a particularly attractive proposition...
 
Agreed. Snowflakes out in force tonight.

With our best team out, firing on all cylinders, we would struggle to get a result at Old Trafford. The first two games were far more disappointing, as they were two away games where we’d hope for a point a piece minimum.

I thought we looked better in the first half going forward, with a few decent spells of possession. Defensively though we are struggling and JOC looks a huge miss. We just don’t have the strength of depth to ride out the loss of key players, inevitable for a promoted side.

Bottom line is Wilder and the players have a huge amount of credit in the bank. Let’s hope we can start seeing some more substantial improvements at the weekend, back at The Lane. UTB
 
We need a goal..... any kind of goal. I don't care if it comes off sharps bellend. Just fucking score a goal.
 
Yes it’s been disappointing and not what we have been used to . That is part of the problem I think , we have been treated to some bloody good football upto lockdown .

It has been a bloody superb season and it’s easy to forget that after the last 2 games . The villa game we should have been victorious. Still have plenty to play for .

I'm sure CW will be thankful for the praise but there's no way on earth he will be happy with just limping along till the end of the season.

He will be looking for solutions.
 
Its a good time to play Arsenal they are bad at the moment and we've had our 3 in a row dodgy performances, everything comes in 3. UTB.
 



Agreed. We're hurting, as they must be, but they've done us proud up til now. Let's just have a reaction before the end of the season. Give us something to look forward to

And this is exactly it.

All Premier League teams can and do get a thumping from time to time. Chelsea got hit with 4 at Man U, Watford had 8 put past them, Soton had 9, Newcastle got done by 5 at Leicester, Norwich 5 at home to Villa etc Even Liverpool got done 3-0 at Watford. It is quite some feat that we got all the way to game week 30 before being comprehensively beaten.

That being said, it is difficult to argue that we haven't 'slipped out of the side door' in these last 3 matches. We've barely thrown a punch never mind landed one. That's not like us. We need to get back on the front foot.

We need to find the courage we had in spades for the last 3 seasons. Hard to fathom where it went but I'm sure we'll find it again. It's all a learning curve. UTB
 
I have to say, what these games have shown me is what a difference JOC makes to this side, Stevens and Fleck look different players without him there

We just can't put teams on the back foot without that overload, that creates the space for Fleck inside too

Indeed, JOC's value increases by the minute.

A point that has been touched on earlier in the season, is the fact that in the first half of matches we invariably do about 70% of our attacking down the left. That is how this team prefers to get on the front foot and seize the initiative. And, given the strength of the 'Fleck, Stevens, JOC' axis, it isn't surprising that that is how we tend to go.
Thereafter, in the second half, it tends to even up and we start using the right flank more so that it becomes more like a split 50/50, if not slightly more down the right reflecting the fact, I suspect, that as the game wears on, Basham and Baldock - arguably our 2 fittest players - come more to the fore as we look to them to carry the fight.

Without JOC for these 3 games, and with Fleck missing Villa and now working his way back to fitness, our left side has been stymied and we haven't been able to set the tone and grab control of any of the games.

I agree with much of the sentiment on here about our teams success, but I think it only fair that fans can have their say too, without being called snowflake, or accused of knee jerk reaction. That’s what the forum is for. Comment and opinion.
I have no wish to slag individual players and I firmly believe that something is amiss in the team dynamic department.
They did not all turn into shit players during lock down, but something has changed for our team to produce such low quality in the last three games.
Let fans tell it like they see it, even if you personally disagree with them.
It’s also true that, to a great extent, whatever is the cause most clubs are dealing with it better than we are.

Yes even when you factor in the opposition.....We offered absolutely nothing.

If that goal had stood at villa who knows how the next 2 games would have panned out? Sometimes you just need a bit of luck to get the team firing
