Do we even need a striker? Is he any good?

No need to ask these questions just sign them up and pay them because Barnsley want them.

Fradi picked up "half a million quid" from us to pay for Robinson's tenure, but hey, you got to chat with their fans.....:)

And we're the ones missing the bigger picture! :D

Wasn't half a million quid from out of my bank account (chance'd be nice eh??) - and I've got no say in how the club or KMcC spend their money, so the bigger picture for me is pretty rosy. I get to talk to new fans, may even get to visit them - all created by the way others choose to spend their money. Result.

And if we get chance to spread love, peace and harmony around the world Man - then that's hip too Man - especially if it's oiled by a few pints along the way!! - Now where's that Cat Stevens album gone! :D

The £50M debt we have isn't burdening your bank account either - but you can bet your life it's affecting the quality of football you're watching week in, week out.

If you have a £100k mortgage, do you consider that you are £100k in debt..?

Well put. Yes, we're £50m in debt but how much of that is secured on the hotel - an asset that we could sell if necessary.

The reason that Wednesday et al are struggling so much is that their debts aren't secured against anything with a reliable value. We're not in the same situation.

I wouldn't swap with Wednesday - but it's not just like having a mortgage either. We've got other businesses for our money - fine. Those businesses are losing money - not fine.

Cut and carve it all you like, the upshot of our debt and what we've done with it is a millstone around our neck at this time. We can hope and speculate that in time it will be a positive. Right now, it isn't.

Clubs don't struggle because their assets are large or small, they struggle because poor cash flow gets them - often driven by big debt repayments.

There's a reason our wage budget is approaching that of Wednesday's last season. It's not because our assets are having a positive effect.

So we have a £50m mortgage, despite getting £20m for Tevez?
If you say so.

I'm not stating anything. The curly thing with the dot underneath it at the end of the line denotes a question. The question was about Alco's attitude to debt, where the debt has been used to buy assets that may accrue in value as opposed to debt that has been acquired through overspending. So would you really be £100k in debt, if you have used the money to buy something that now has sufficient value to cover the outstanding mortgage? Is that a different type of debt to say an overdraft or a bank loan that you had a good holiday on or bought a car that lost 20% of its value when you drove it off the forecourt?

The only people I saw really getting on the £50m figure were the pigs to try to deflect attention away from their own perilous finances. They seemed to miss the concept of assets, probably because they dont have any recent experience of having any. Anyway, keep lurching about if you wish. I can see you're really enjoying your evening...

But that's my point Dunc. If it did cover the mortgage then I'd be happy. But it doesn't. Not nearly. As said above, Chengdu alone lost us £2.5M in one season. The hotel is losing money. I'm not revelling in our problems like Len is, I'm concerned that we've over stretched ourselves. Unlike the porkers, we've got something that might turn into a value adder. Right now it's depreciating and swallowing cash.

But short of either getting yourself onto the board of SUFC - or getting a job as financial advisor to the the club there's sod all you can do about our "over-stretching". So IMO just roll with the flow - and enjoy the fact that for whatever reason, financially valid or otherwise, the club have given us footballing ties with fans around the world. That's something each of us can choose to do (or not) for ourselves. You could PM Kyopityus today and arrange to meet up in Budapest tomorrow - you can't change the financial running of the club. (Not aimed at you Alcho :D)

Absolute cobblers. Fans can do loads to change the management of clubs, both financially and otherwise.
And we didn't need McCabe's company, not SUFC, to buy a club in Hungary so you could email one of their fans. I'm sure you would have been capable of that anyway - if it fit with your 'going with the flow'.

Would you care to expand on this?
