I think like most Blades I am prepared to suck these results up and reflect on this fabulous team’s performances over the last four years. The rollercoaster’s had a little two game wobble but, in spite of a couple of garbage performances, I’m not going to pile in. I bloody love this team and what it’s given us. If we lose every match until the end of the season (we won’t) we will still be in the Premiership next year and I am basking in that still unbelievable fact. Doesn’t mean we can’t comment on bad performances or point out a few glaringly obvious pitfalls. I think we all know that but how bloody great is it to have a gentle grumble and still warm our hands on the warm fire of the best times we have ever known in the last 50 years of supporting the club. You were absolute cr@p today United. Let me give you a hug.

Exactly. It feels good to not be worried about our safety after a game like that it’s just disappointing to see us lose in that manner.

Imagine supporting Norwich or villa and having to watch performances like that most weeks like most of us were expecting us to . However, bad that result was, it was the first bad result this year. Hopefully, this is a blip.

Its like I said in another thread you are allowed at least one howler a season and that was ours. (although might be second howler IIRC). The Man U game will be now massive for us especially without Egan, Joc and Deano. We need to keep that top 7 place though. Basham was the only one I thought was playing to the game plan all the others bar maybe Billy and Deano too.

I agree Basham was immense today and it was very, very odd to see so many United players have a collective off day. Not sure if the Man Utd game is ‘massive’. I’m not entirely convinced playing in Azerbaijan on a Thursday night before taking on someone Spurs away on the following Saturday is where we are as a club yet. Absolutely delighted we are all but safe. Obviously don’t want us to fade but sod Europe, let’s focus on more of these great days of Premiership life and securing them for as long as we can

Everyone needs to look at Bash and remember what drive and commitment is.

Wish we could field 11 of him, we'd win the lot.

Even when he's not quite at it or makes a mistake, he still goes for it.

Come on guys and gals. It's not the restart we were all hoping for and I'm as pissed off as the next fan, but not let's get carried away here. Let's look at the facts; major injuries to our key players, a genuine good goal not spotted, a sending off which was dubious, all coupled to the fact that the team look rusty from the start, but don't we usually start slow?
I'm not expecting much at OT midweek, but after that when hopefully JOC will be back, Fleck will have fully recovered Berg may have settled more and the team in general may be playing more as a unit, I'm still positive. Even though Chris is publicly writing off Europe, I think this is down to his frustration after today, but you can bet your life he hasn't given up at all, nor have the players. Looking at the table it's all to play for and I'm sure they will come good. Let's enjoy the ride.

Disappointed with the result today, but thought the 1st half was pretty even and then the sending off turned the momentum their way 2nd half, a one in a 100 games mistake for Newcastles 1st and a cracking strike for the 2nd, the 3rd was admittedly a poor goal to concede after losing possession too easily, and not for the 1st time today. To be fair we expected more days like this at the seasons start, we have performed far better than we could have hoped, to even talk about Europe would have been scoffed at, I'm not going to have a go after 2 sub standard performances because the chance is still there, will we achieve it? Who knows? It's in our hands still and begins again on Wednesday at Newton Heath. UTB

Didnt mean massive as in a Europe place meant massive as we need to do a good performance without 3 key players ! To try and get some momentum back.

Great post. We were poor today and last Wednesday. Not sure why and listening to CW I don't think he knows, but I trust him to put it right.

Read the BBC website where they say we'll be disappointed with only one point from Villa and Newcastle away as they were games we would have expected to win. Take that in, games we were expected to win. In your wildest expectations did you think we'd be reading statements like that at start of season.

We go again next week at OT. Keep the faith. We're still 7th.

Well said. Though in view of lots of other posts today, I'm not sure you are 'as pissed off as the next fan'.

Main Issue for me isn’t how bad we’ve been since the restart it’s the “what might have been”
Pre lockdown we were fully fit, optimistic and firing!
Now we look sloppy. Obvs injury (and now suspension) riddled so it’s a case of IF this break hadn't happened, what would have happened?, which is incredibly frustrating.

They were awful today and awful on Wednesday. But I don;t blame the players - they have prepared the best they could do under extremely strange and difficult circumstances.
Somehow they seem to have got it very wrong and these last few games could be pretty horrific to watch. But I feel desperately sorry for them, rather than angry. They were doing so well, this situation is not of their making and I thing it could be ruining a few of their careers.

Hope I'm proved wrong

This is the best post. Its just how i feel. We have been brilliant all season. Such A shame if it goes off the rails now. But I am not going to not love this team or managment any less. I might have a moan on the day if its a bad performance, but thats just because im dying for this team to do well
