Give to Chris Basham right now.

Mr consistency, and he consistently looks the most comfortable player on the pitch. The only man on the pitch today who retains any kind of dignity.

When all around him have jacked it in, he’s the only one putting the effort in.

Some of the players have been a complete embarrassment today, but as ever, Bash has played the game out with integrity that has carried him from League One to the Premier League.

He's always the only one to come out with any kind of credit when we play poorly. Definitely player of the season

Agree about Bash but “a complete embarrassment”. Give over, it was a bad performance in an utterly outstanding season.

Have a glass of Merlot and come back tmw :)

Just look at Norwood on that third goal. Jogs towards a loose ball and inevitably doesn’t win it. Then jogs back into the box in a half-arsed attempt to stick with the goal scorer. What chance have we got when players are doing that. Something I never thought I’d see from this team.

Listening to Wilder has cheered me up somewhat though. Always seems to get it spot on after a bad result/performance. That’s why I think we will always be okay with him in charge.

toughest job of the season for me. players i thought shoo ins in December/January have fallen down since. as i thought it was 3 horse race mcgoldrick Egan or ramsdale. but they all got big reasons for why not. in the end i went for mcgoldrick as he has shown moments of quality

only thing i was certain was goal didzy v villa. a rare piece of superb quality in this mediocrity relegation yr

My vote for Lundstram has been locked in.

Went with McGoldrick myself. Ironic innit; we were amazing last year and he was the only one who couldnt score. We’re shite this season, and he’s the only one that can.

Not sure there are any other real contenders; Ramsdales done well since January, but early form cost him. Probably pick him as runner up; saved us from proper embarrasing scorelines at times. Bogle did well when he finally got a game, but didn't even come into contention until we were effectively down. Suppose he gets the “breakout” player award though. Bash and Egan never disgraced themselves unlike some other usually consistent players, but both suffered in a chop and change defence, including their own lay-offs and neither consistently hit their own standards.

There isn't one this year and the players should all say cancel the event.

I chose McGoldrick, but you're right really. McGoldrick and Ramsdale have been a little bit of light in the darkness, but hardly a foglight, more like the power light on an old Gameboy with low battery.

Players should be embarrassed at the thought of it and get together and cancel the thing, donate the money for all the champagne to charity or something.

They deserve a drink and a party, they've still played 38 games + cup competitions, not making out that's easy, but any kind of awards and celebration is a bit much after this season.

At a push its Ramsdale for me, mainly due to his mental strength shown to bounce back and shoe his capabilities after his first half season dodgy keeper showings. Fair dos, he didn't go under mentally and came out the other side to start showing us all what a decent young keeper he is. Shown strength in adversity.

Mentioned in despatches would be McGoldrick who was a positive during the first half of the season before he too started to be wore down with the rest of the struggling team. He scored a few more this season and at times carried most of our attack single handedly, but he has also missed some absolute sitters.

The rest.... The least said about them the better really (maybe Billy gets a pardon too).

Quietly give the PoTY to Ramsdale, cancel all associated parties and fanfare and quietly file this season under the archives under 'Operation Shitshow' (SUFC's version of Gallipoli or the Bay of Pigs invasions). It would be embarrassing to celebrate anything about this seasons total failure.

Still the beauty of football is there's always another new season round the corner with new players, and after a summer away from SUFC, I know I will be chomping at the bit to see us play again.

Some of the current players who have failed so miserably will hopefully be a long long way from the Lane. We all know who these 'players' are.

I'd say it's Rammers or McGoldrick.

Rammers will have got more motm awards because we've lost so many. It's difficult for the outfield players to get much credit in defeat. Whereas the goalie keeping the score down is much more eye catching which is why on the online poll on websites Rammers is well ahead. He was pretty shaky up to Christmas but has been excellent this calendar year.

McGoldrick has been the most consistent this season. Not done much the last couple but he's not really had much of a 'trough'.

McGoldrick's flick vs Chelsea was nice. I also liked Sharp's goal vs West Brom. It was hardly even a chance. He's just such a good poacher. I can't remember McGoldrick's goal vs Villa which is odd given we scored so few!

Furious George for me.

For no other reason, he's stayed furious when others around him have been wet farts! Would love to hear what he thinks of Lundstram and Brewster's efforts this season!

Oh, and the fact that he's seen off Bogle challenging for his position. For me that says everything about the man! Some were lauding Bogle as our one bright spot mid-season, but George has seen him off...

Voted McGoldrick POTY and best Goal at Arsenal. I'd give the runner up spot to Basham with Ramsdale as the most improved player of the season. To me over the season only McGoldrick and Basham have looked comfortable at Premier League level but sadly let down by the rest of the team who have under performed and one or two who have been a disgrace.

As feared, the form of some of these did continue to nosedive... but on the bright side, Didzy continued to improve and Ramsdale cut out the mistakes. So I reckon:

1. McGoldrick
(Country mile)
2. Ramsdale
3. Basham
(Regulation mile)
The rest

Honourable mention for Bogle who’s had some stormers, but he’s only played about a dozen times and wasn’t particularly amazing in about half of them.

Mentioned this on the pod a few times, but since I posted the above, McGoldrick’s form has dropped off (in fact he’s had some occasional shockers), and Ramsdale has continued to improve and be consistently good, with the odd brilliant performance. Everyone else has declined.

So for me it’s pretty easy:

1. Ramsdale
2. McGoldrick
3. Basham

I gave my vote to Rammers as said above, because of the way he bounced back and grew into his role. Shown more commitment to the cause than the rest of the team put together IMO.

Bash had a reasonable season but Rammers dragged himself up from a lower starting position to a higher finishing position, again, IMO.

Goal of the year for me (tough decision even with such few choices) went to Sharp against Plymouth simply because it had Lunny and Norwood making probably their best passes of the season to set up Billy for a superb rounding of the goalie and scoring from a narrowish angle.

The three man move epitomised what we used to be and were probably the high points of the season for all three players.

The other two I seriously considered were Bogle's against Bristol Rovers, again because it epitomised what we used to be and Didsy's against Villa for starting and finishing the move.

I'll think you'll find it was Bogle who scored against WBA. Sharp put the cross in ;)

Rammers
Basham.
Mcgoldrick.
Baldock.
Egan.
After that, maybe Bogle. I can see now how we ended up where we did. Hope next season we've a bigger choice. UTB.

I'd forget this POY rubbish ... just give groundsman a pay rise!
